Kai had finally gotten away from his overprotective mother and was running along the path chasing a random insect, and he also wanted to see what all the village had, so it was a win-win, carrying his makeshift basket in a wing. During his attempted speedrun of touring and bug hunting, he tripped over a tail. He took a few moments to pick himself off the ground, turning around to see another dragon who seemed around his age but slightly older, a youngling. "S-sorry." He said nervously. "Watch where you're going pipsqueak." The annoyed red dragon stated. "A-Ap-pologies, I w-will." Kai stated, feeling nervous, he hadn't really had any experience interacting with anyone else besides his parents, so he was very nervous, especially with the big dragon glaring down at him. Kai grabbed his makeshift basket and attempted to run off. " 'Ey! I'm not done with you!" The dragon exclaimed, grabbing him by the tail, causing Kai to yelp. Kai turned around, his body starting to tremble.
"Hm." The dragon hummed as if thinking on some sort of punishment. "A furred dragon, ain't that a rare sight? Normally your punishment would be worse, but I'm in a good mood today so I'll go easy on you... Say, isn't that quite the pretty necklace for a pipsqueak, heh, what's in the basket? Pretty little gems to match your nice little necklace?" He asked, eyes practically turning into dragold (draconic coins used for trade between dragons) "Why not hand them over, and I might be willing to let you go without any... issues." "No! These are my lucky charms!" Kai exclaimed, pulling the basket back. "Fine then, I'll just take them!" The dragon stated, reaching for the necklace first, but the second he touched the necklass he was shocked, painfully. He grunted and only seemed angrier, rolling on the ground cluching his burning paw which had visible smoke coming from it, despite having fireproof scales, he'd somehow been severely burned. Assuming Kai had retaliated against him, even if it was just a bit, he yelled. "Why you little!" He exclaimed angrily, attempting to swipe at Kai's face, claws out, only for his claw to be frozen from out of nowhere. "Leave him be!" Came his mothers very, very angry voice, Kai stood straight suddenly, like a well behaved child, looking at where the voice came from. "Stay out of it lady, just teaching this little pipsqueak a lesson!" The bully snarled, not understanding he was picking a fight he couldn't win.
Suddenly the red dragon started huffing in pain, what made it worse was the claw that got frozen was the same one that'd gotten burned. Kai's mother reached them and gently pushed Kai behind her, taking a protective stance. "If you don't want to lose that claw, I suggest you back off, I don't even need to make that threat, I could go to the chief, I am sure he wouldn't tolerate things like this, you'd be in deep trouble, but I'd prefer if we could keep your little agression between us, hm?" She asked. "Screw off bitch! This has nothing to do with you!" The dragon scolded, then started to charge up his fire, "Tarkov! You stand down right now young dragon!" A femenine voice yelled, another dragon running over, This dragon was a light blue color, almost matching the color of the ocean when seen from underwater with the sun shining on it. Tarkov's ears perked up and he quickly stopped, and now looked afraid, visibly shaking, he was definitely in trouble and he knew it. Karill took Kai away as Tarkov's mother started scolding him for attacking a defenseless dragon without provocation.
"Ma I-" Kai started, but got cut off
"No need to say anything hun, I'm just glad you're alright. Let's find your dad, we should head off soon, especially after this, but first, before we leave, it's well past time you learn to fly, you're getting too big to just ride on my back, and, no more running off on me alright?" She scolded.
Later that day after the Scolding, Tarkov wandered away from the village, going on a run through the woods, fuming. "Little brat, if only I were stronger, I would be able to do what I want to who I want with no fear of getting in trouble." He'd mutter to himself. "Is that your wish?" A cold chilly voice spoke, but there was no one around, only a black misty silhouette holding a dark crystal. "I can give you the power you crave, all you have to do is accept my gift, and I can do the rest." The voice spoke, one could hear the dark grin in the voice. "How much power exactly would this grant me?" The dragon asked cautiously, "All the power you could ever want and then some! The process though could be painful." "I'll do it!" He exclaimed, hooked on the idea of being able to easily overpower anyone and everyone he wanted to. Next thing he knew he was knocked unconscious, when he woke, he felt pain in a few spots, but ultimately, he felt strong, and powerful. Then he saw a figure, a bipedal, not a shadowy silhouette anymore. "Bow before your master." The feminine voice spoke, and his body moved against his will. "Good, good, good." She smirked. "What'd you do to me?!" The dragon explained, blasting a flame at her, though all she did was lift her hand, and grab it, snuffing it out. "You obey me, understood? What else did you expect? Power doesn't come without a cost? Your kind really is stupid aren't they? So easily pursuaded, it's honestly too easy!" She cackled. "Go to the volcanic region, reactivate the volcano and stay there and wait for the ancient one to come to you, assuming he ever makes it that for. Bring him to me... alive." She ordered, and once again, against his will, Tarkov left, doing as he was told.
