Chapter 3 - Warnings

"Meeting adjourned for now!" The chief announced, Kai just sat there as the two spoke, their hushed voices made it hard to hear what was being said so he tried going closer so he could hear them only to be interrupted by his mother. "Not yet" Karill said, "Here, why don't we meet some of the folk here while we are here to rest for a couple hours, maybe get to know some of the lovely young ladies?" "Why all the secrecy?" Kai asked, rolling his eyes, he wanted to do other things, he wanted to explore, to fly and be free, but most of all, confused why he was being kept in the dark about something he was so curious about and why there was the urgency to leave so soon, unable to understand why they wouldn't tell him what was going on, he wanted to know what was happening. "It's better you learn this from someone else." Karill explained as if sensing his unasked questions, if his powers weren't active now and the threat of being in public--in the outskirts like this, were miniscule she'd be more than happy to satiate his confusion. But if he were to learn the truth there was a chance that his emotions would get out of hand which would be dangerous, considering how they'd hid this from him from the day he hatched, that and there were too many people around, even in a small town like this there's bound to be one evil apple who'd be after him for bad, bad reasons.

After everyone left the open building that looked like a majorly oversized makeshift tent made of wood. "You're telling me..." "Yes Jara [pronounced Jah-rah] it's just as the seer in the elder council had foretold, a great evil is plaguing our world, and the one meant to face it was born, we've hid ourselves away, hid him from the radar from the dark witches with that enchanted amulet by containing his powers in it. When he came to us to ask about ancient blood and I sensed the air of lingering dark magic around him, I am guessing the one we feared the most has found him, and his powers could no longer be contained in the crystal, at least, not completely." Rhazi stated, fearing the danger that loomed over their heads like an executioner's axe.

"That sounds bad, very very bad, not even an army would be able to stop her if she accomplishes her goals, we cannot let that happen, she needs to be stopped, so, first thing's first, do you have any idea of his elements?" Jara asked, a claw on his chin as he thought. "Judging by the runes on the crystal he has wind, fire, and ice, with the combination of fire and wind, there is a chance he may also be able to summon lightning, that may just be a small breath of what he might be capable of if he has 3 elements like his kind is supposed to have. There is no telling what a Dark Witch or Wizard could do if they could get their hands on that kind of power." Rhazi continued as Jara just nodded. "Okay, yeah, that's good, if he learns to control them, he'll become very powerful, defeat her with ease, and he may just be the second ancient blooded dragon in history to survive the final confrontation." Jara stated sincerely, "That is if he learns to control them, if he doesn't, then he'll be a danger to far more than just himself."

In the background, Kai, had lost interest distracted by the buildings and some shiny things, though ultimately uninterested he was intrigued. Being a sheltered dragonling, of course he'll be curious of most things around him after finally leaving home. Rhazi watched him chase after some random insects trying to eat them, chuckling before getting serious. "Are we sure we can put our trust in the boy? I mean, he's so young, he has so much life to live, I mean I don't wanna put my own son down like this, but, I won't delude myself and say that we can trust him with our lives, I don't want my boy getting hurt or worse, killed. You've heard the stories of other ancient blooded dragons dying, either they died together with the one they were fighting, succumbed to their wounds, obtained a nasty disease, were killed by other dragons who were envious, or fearful, or both.

The only one that lived beyond their major fight and other trials that they had to deal with rallied all of dragonkind together under one rule, of course each region has reigning 'kings' though officially called governors, all answering to the one and only king and queen of all dragons, but he died fighting wickens just as his son was born, none of them have ever had a very long lifespan, and I want my boy to live a prosperous life, but instead he'll have to deal with the mess this world couldn't clean up on its own." Rhazi ranted, more worried about Kai than anything else, Jara patting his shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, I've a good feeling he'll be the longest one to live, and maybe for once this world might be able to see if the ancient blooded one's powers can be inherited." "Thank you, Jara, you really are my best friend." Rhazi gave him a thankful smile. "Anyways, we should get some sleep, we'll be leaving in the morning."

"Alright then old friend, be safe, don't let her catch you off guard, that vile witch plays very dirty, protect him with your lives until he comes to his full potential." He warned. "We're his parents, we'd do that anyways." Rhazi said, scoffing at him. Jara just turned around to call his messenger, which whom was the fastest dragon in the region that wasn't living in the castle. "Brava!" Jara called, "Chief!" came the dragon's quick response, rushing over to their chief, "Tell the royal family the witch is on the move and that his powers have awakened." He'd instructed, "Yes sir!" Exclaimed Brava and with that, he took off.
