Springtime for Freshmen
Chapter 1: Taking the First Brave Step Is the Beginning of the Journey
The spring breeze was as gentle as the wet kiss of a beautiful woman.
Water splashed, steam slowly rose, and sunlight pink as ocean waves shone upon the Chaldea school building. The white bricks glistened after the spring rain like the smile of an angel.
Mochizuki Eikou stood in front of the bustling school hall, surrounded by Servants wearing the same school uniform as him.
He looked down at the puddle at his feet, which reflected the brilliant spring overflowing with cherry blossoms at this school, the hurried footsteps of students, the faintly visible thighs beneath fluttering skirts of girls, and his own ordinary high school student face.
He had been isekai'd.
And not just anywhere — he had been isekai'd into the 21st century, full of Servants, his soul possessing the body of a high school transfer student named "Mochizuki Eikou."
Apparently, it was because he clicked on some suspicious Fate doujin game, and then got pulled into this world.
Eikou was pretty sure he was dreaming, so he immediately pinched his cheek.
"You bastard! Why the hell did you suddenly pinch my cheek?! Wanna fight?!"
His classmate Jeanne Alter, who was walking to school with him, was suddenly pinched and turned around to glare at Eikou.
...Yup, it felt incredibly real. And very soft too.
Clearly, this wasn't a dream.
Jeanne Alter snorted and stormed off, while Eikou took a moment to reorganize the scrambled memories of this body.
First of all, the parents were still alive, but due to work, they had gone abroad, forcing him to transfer here.
Even though it was isekai, Eikou didn't find anything particularly strange — it simply felt like returning to student life.
Here, there was no bloody Holy Grail War, no fierce battles with the seven Lostbelts — the Servants were simply going to school like normal, lively and cheerful. It looked exactly like the setting of a school romance film full of youthful pink tones.
However, on the wrist holding his schoolbag, a line of code suddenly appeared, reflecting these words:
[...This is a crack in time, a Servant Utopia that should not exist, this world is about to be cut off]
Mochizuki Eikou rubbed his eyes and reread the text two or three times to confirm he wasn't hallucinating.
A glowing line of text like that was floating right in front of him, yet none of the other students walking by seemed to notice, as if it didn't attract anyone's attention at all.
"Jeanne Alter-san, can you see this?"
He quickly stepped forward, pointing at the line of text on his wrist and asked.
Jeanne Alter, walking ahead, turned her head, the corners of her eyes tilted as she looked directly at his face: "Yeah, I see a dumbass face!"
"..."
Could it be… that only he could see this line of text?
As strange as it was, since he had already isekai'd, nothing could surprise him anymore.
Mochizuki Eikou quickly entered the boys' restroom in the academic building, where no one would bother him, so he could carefully examine the line of code on his wrist.
Still the same text:
[...This is a crack in time, a Servant Utopia that should not exist, this world is about to be cut off]
[To this world, you are an outsider from a higher dimension, a player participating in a game.]
[In this school overflowing with Servants, you are the only human.]
"!"
Could it be that after being isekai'd into the game, he retained his identity and powers as a player?
[You will play the role of a mysterious high school boy named "Mochizuki Eikou". Within the campus, you will meet Servants with different personalities and unique abilities. Together, you will search for the truth of "destruction" and recover the lost Holy Grail — while gradually uncovering the true nature of the "Servant".]
"Why does this intro sound so familiar?"
[Do not, under any circumstances, reveal the content of this text to anyone.]
[Do not go outside at night unless you are fully prepared.]
[Complete your studies diligently, engage in social interaction — academic performance and social influence are the units of combat power at this Servant school.]
[Absolutely do not fail a subject, or you will be expelled and it's GAME OVER!!]
That was a lot of information, but Eikou was starting to understand... this world still seemed to follow the rules of a game and a school rom-com.
The next line of text appeared:
[Would you like to use Deduction of the Future? YES/NO]
Was this his special player ability?
He hesitated for a moment, but couldn't resist his curiosity and clicked "YES".
Next came a new string of text:
[Select your Deduction Skills — you may choose only two of the following:]
[1. Triple Fail EX: You may fail three exams without being expelled]
[2. Clairvoyance C: You have good eyesight, can easily remember what's on the board, and it's easier to peek at classmates' answers]
[3. Endless Martial Training B: You can easily pass physical education exams]
[4. Instinct C: Your intuition is sharp, you have a high chance of dodging chalk thrown by teachers, and higher probability when guessing answers]
[5. High-Speed Divine Words A: You can finish exams and homework in a single breath]
"Hmm..."
As a transfer student and newly arrived player, Eikou still didn't know which skill was truly useful.
He could only rely on his gut feeling to choose.
After hesitating for a while, he picked [Instinct] and [High-Speed Divine Words].
The deduction text earlier had made it clear: he had to complete his studies, and academic performance was the unit of combat power at this school — so choosing High-Speed Divine Words to study diligently was definitely the right move.
And Instinct was for predicting trouble, like a Peter-tingle or something!
Straight path to graduation!
[Loading life progression...]
[At age 1, you were born into a middle-class family.]
[At age 4, you enrolled in Chaldea's Servant kindergarten.]
[At age 5, you learned Hero Creation E.]
[You incited little Artoria to use a poop-covered mop — "Excalibur" — to chase after Servants around the nursery.]
[You acquired a new skill: "A Knight Does Not Die with Empty-Handed C".]
[At age 9, you started elementary school.]
[In 1st grade, you almost smashed Uruk's Age of Gods with your fists.]
[You taught upperclassman Gilgamesh=senpai a lesson with your iron fists, showing him that even a mortal body could rival the divine.]
[You acquired a new skill: "God Slayer B".]
Damn, even Gilgamesh got beaten up that early?
[At age 11, you nearly soloed Beast III.]
[One day, you met a strange onee-san named Sesshouin Kiara on the roadside. She invited you over, spoke to you in a disturbingly intimate tone, said she wanted to see your "Tower of Babylon", and could teach you how to climb on top of adults.]
"???"
Why did such a highly questionable woman suddenly appear, and on top of that, the content suddenly became extremely dangerous?
[You resolutely rejected the temptation and immediately called the police, leading the school to apprehend this poorly-behaved older sister!]
"Don't reject me! You'll regret it when you grow up! Hurry up and use your 'Tower of Babylon' to seal her 'Heaven's Hole'! This is your chance to save the world, right in front of your eyes!"
"I don't acknowledge that this child is me — I absolutely won't let 'little Eikou' miss his chance to fight!"
[Report successful. Your reputation has skyrocketed!]
[However, as you neared junior high, you suddenly realized everything and shed tears of regret.]
[Within that regret, you truly matured and awakened new skills: "Human Anatomy Research A" and "Mana Burst A".]
Good lord — it's like a shounen protagonist awakening their ultimate skill after intense training!
But this is clearly a different kind of "awakening" entirely.
"I can kinda understand 'Human Anatomy Research' — I mean, boys at that age, who doesn't want to study the female body? But Mana Burst? What the hell is that? This so-called 'mana'… is it even real mana, damn it?"
Wait a second…
Eikou suddenly remembered what type of work the Fate series originally was…
WTF!
It's over — we're not even done with the first chapter yet and the whole deduction sequence is already pulling all these lewd and pervy stunts. This is all just cheap jokes!
"What the hell did you make me deduce here?! Your mom — who's still working hard trying to make money on other websites — would probably cry her heart out if she saw this! She didn't give birth to you just for you to go on YouTube doing trashy goldfinger gags like this!"
[?]
The deep blue cube in charge of life progression immediately projected a new line of information:
[At age 18, you were successfully admitted to Chaldea Comprehensive Servant Academy with fairly good grades.]
[Please confirm your enrollment information.]
Mochizuki Eikou
Archer
Strength: B+
Endurance: B
Agility: B+
Mana: E
Luck: A
Noble Phantasm: ??
Personal Skills:
「God Slayer B」
「Human Anatomy Research A」
「Mana Burst A」
「A Knight Does Not Die with Empty-Handed C」
「High-Speed Divine Words A」
「Instinct C」
Noble Phantasm: None
Looking at this status sheet… it was honestly hard to judge.
Even though he had two more personal skills than an average Servant, he didn't possess any Noble Phantasm at all.
Maybe because he wasn't considered a real Servant to begin with?
Was he really gonna have to go to the Throne of Heroes just to gold-plate his academic resume? How would he even get there — by making a contract with Alaya?
