Chapter 1 - Transmigrated into a Novel

The thunder roared in the dark sky, as the rain violently crashed on the mansion's window. Dark clouds covered the sky as a thread of moonlight lit the inside of the house. A man sitting cross-legged on the sofa swirled the glass of wine in his hands. Even if it was nighttime time the man still wore a black suit and his golden watch. A novel named "The Making of a Killer" lay on his lap.

"Sir, we found this man in front of the mansion," another man in a black suit reported. They were men specially hired to take care of dirty business.

The man glanced at the suspect, who was on his knees begging them to let him go. Blood dripped from his head and his knife wounds, tainting the perfectly polished wooden floor. He trembled in horror as he recognized the man's face. It was the judge who was in charge of his case.

"Why are you guys so incompetent? I hate having blood in the house," he said to his men.

The man sitting on the sofa twirled the wine again and sipped.

"How ironic," his cold voice echoed in the living room. How dare the bastard ask for forgiveness when he committed horrendous crimes? Being a high figure in society, he bribed his way out of prison. As a serial rapist, he was reported multiple times by the courageous girls who decided to speak up. However, his rich status allowed him to escape all trials.

"Why are you doing this?" the criminal huffed tiredly.

"If the law isn't able to punish guys like you, I will," the man said calmly. He wasn't some kind of saint or angel; he was just doing the dirty work that not everyone would do. During his years of work as a judge, he sent a lot of criminals behind bars. If you did something bad, you had to be ready to face the consequences.

"Why are you all still standing there?" he asked his men. "Get it done quickly. Don't leave any evidence."

"Yes, sir!" The men in suits dragged the criminal out of the mansion. The criminal's cries and begging died down in the hallways.

'Finally, some peace,' the man thought. He opened his book again and continued reading.

After solving a case, a teenage girl gifted him the book. She wanted to thank him for bringing justice to her deceased dad. Her dad worked as a construction worker for a company. He had an accident at the construction site and died on the spot. To not damage their reputation, the company threw cash at the girl's family to keep their mouth shut. Her family sued the company and won in court.

The bright sun rose in the orange sky when the man finished the book. He closed the book and placed it on the nightstand beside his king-sized bed.

'What a pity,' he thought. The kid in the novel was pretty interesting, but he died young.

The novel 'The Making of a Killer' talks about a young boy taking revenge after he finds out that his relatives plotted to kill his parents. After killing all the people who took part in the plan, he was caught by the police at the age of 22. Before going to prison, he killed himself after finishing his revenge. As he died, he thought that if he were stronger and richer, maybe he wouldn't have to dirty his hands. The world cursed him and feared him. The world knew him as a murderer, but only the reader sympathized with him.

After finishing the novel, the man went to sleep. That day, he had a vivid dream of a scene inside the novel. His well-polished shoes were drenched in a pool of blood. A strong metallic scent intruded into his nostrils. He was accompanied by a few other people, who seemed to be police officers. As he adjusted his eyes to the darkness of the small room, he saw a boy staring back soullessly at him. There was no trace of life in his pale blue eyes.

The police officers rushed to the boy, making sure that he was safe, but it was as if the boy couldn't hear them. Looking further inside the room, the man saw two dismantled bodies. He instinctively knew that it was the boy's parents.

The man woke up, feeling a migraine forming inside his head. He reached for the glass of water that he always put on his nightstand, but it wasn't there. He realized the unfamiliar bedroom that he woke up in. What was going on? It was still a luxurious room, but very different from his own black and white bedroom.

Suddenly, a system window popped up in front of him.

Puzzled, the man now named Valentin reread the information. Did he transmigrate into the novel that he read last night? How was that even possible?

The man snickered. He did save a lot of people from those bastards, but he also killed a lot of people with his own hands. He wasn't an angel. It was ironic how the system considered him a hero. During his years of working as a judge, he killed a lot of guilty criminals but somehow got away with it. The man who intruded into his mansion last night was one of the people he had to kill. At the age of 29, he was finally able to live a peaceful life, but he had transmigrated into a novel.

He glanced at the mirror standing near his bed. A young man with black hair and red eyes reflected in the mirror. He had the same face and body as he had in his past life, but he seemed much younger, around 22 years old.

Well, now that he was here, he might as well enjoy his new life and identity. It was not like he had someone important to him in his past life. His parents were as cold as him. They would rarely contact each other. He had no friends as he was always busy with work.

If he were lucky, maybe he would get to meet the male lead of this world. He admired him for his courage and determination.

'Wait,' Valentin thought. He read the system window again and laughed. He will get to see the male lead, Han Seojin, very soon.
