Chapter 1 - Glenn's Return

Glenn felt something inside of him snap, and time seemed to freeze as hundreds of memories flashed through his crushed head.

A memory of him and Maggie on Hershel's farm. How innocent and full of life they had been back then.

A memory of him and Maggie being held prisoner by the governor.

He and Maggie, together with the group back at Terminus.

Every memory that flashed through his mind continued to fuel his anger. An anger that he had only felt once before.

When he was back at Woodbury, the governor had Maggie naked and afraid. He had never wanted to kill someone more than right then.

And now that anger that had once before seemed like the darkest part of him felt like a small flame compared to the blazing fire of anger that burned within him as all he saw were dark figures past the red blood covering his eyes.

He had been too naive, holding on to his morals even until it got him killed. A bat straight to the head in front of his sick, pregnant wife.

Now what?

What was her fate? The child's fate?

He trusted Rick; he knew in the end that Negan would regret ever having ran into the man known as Rick fucking grimes.

But what about his wife?

Would she be alive after all of it? Would she be happy?

With another man?

Who would his kid call his daddy?

Feeling his anger rise to new heights and the taunts of Negan dulled out by the ringing in his sunken head, he turned to Maggie with all the strength he could find within himself.

He couldnt see her past all of the red, but he knew she was there. She was always there.

"Maggie, Ill find you," he managed to stutter out a few words while wishing that he could go back in time and do it all over again.

He understood it now. Really. He would do anything to be there for his wife. Anything. For his unborn child.

He felt his skull shatter once again, and his thoughts became fuzzy as the only thing he hoped for was another chance to see his wife again.

—-------------------------------------

Under the raging stormy night sky was a small barn, and within the barn, Glenn, who had just died, felt himself awaken to the sound of thunder and pelting rain.

'This feels to shitty to be heaven.' Glenn thought as he opened his eyes and glanced around, confused, before finding the place recognizable.

It was the barn where he and the group had ridden out the storm before meeting Aaron.

'This feels way too real to be a dream, and shouldn't I be dead after getting my head crushed in?' Glenn rubbed his aching head while trying to come to terms with what was happening.

'I went back in time by a few months. I'm alive. Maggie.' Glenn felt the spot next to him but didn't feel Maggie, and sat up.

Glancing around, he saw a group of people holding the barn doors closed while a group of walkers continued to try and bang it open.

Maggie was one of the few.

She looked stronger than she had when she was pregnant, but still looked weak after weeks of hunger.

She was wearing a worn-down white shirt that was starting to turn brown and old jeans, but she still looked beautiful with her pale skin.

He felt his anger rise and thought he saw red before he calmed himself down.

'I won't let things repeat themself. There is so much I can change. So many people I can help and so many I can send to hell.' Glenn's eyes hardened, and his jaw set before he stood up and ran to the barn door to help the others.

'It's going to be a long night.' Glenn got beside Maggie, and she gave him a tired but beautiful smile.

He couldnt help but get lost in her smile, and he knew nothing and no one would stop him from seeing her have his child, not this time.

He held the barn door closed for hours as the walkers and the wind fought against him and the group.

He didn't mind the tiring labor as his mind spun and was still trying to wrap around having been sent back in time.

He didn't know if there was some higher being, and frankly, he didn't care. God, devil, it didn't matter; he was grateful and that was it.

Though he did feel different from his old self but he didn't know if it was a side effect of being reborn or just a new outlook on life.

It felt like days before he dragged his tired and wet body back to his patch of hay, where he felt Maggie curl herself into him while he wrapped his arms around her.

She didn't know her husband had died. His head caved in, and he would make sure she never had to.

Enjoying her warmth, he closed his eyes, but all he saw was red, and the only thing keeping his anger from overwhelming him was the woman lying next to him.

And so he drifted off to sleep dreaming of the color red.

—-----------------------------------

Glenn could hear the wet thuds of Negans bat against Abarhams skull before he awoke, staring straight up at the barns roof with a cold glare.

While awake, he had to survive, and in his sleep, he was haunted by nightmares. Would he ever find peace?

When he killed Negan, maybe? Or will there just be another Negan to take his place? Someone worse?

How many people will he have to kill?

'However many stand in my way.' Glenn thought while reaching out towards Maggie, but all he felt was a cold blanket full of scratchy hay.

Sitting up, Glenn looked around and saw the group was up, though no one looked particularly full of energy after spending the night fighting the storm and being low on food and water.

He quickly noticed that Maggie and Sasha were missing from the group and remembered this moment decently well as it was his first meeting with Aaron.

Michonne, who was sitting up against the wall with her sword in her arms, must have seen him looking around and assumed he was wondering where Maggie was, as she gave him a small smile.

"Don't worry, Maggie went out with Sasha, said they'll be back in a minute,"

Glenn gave her a thank-you nod before sitting up against the wall himself.

A second later, he heard the barn doors open, and his wife's southern accent rang out.

"Hey. Everyone…"

"This is Aaron."

'Ah shit here we go again.'
