Synopsis
He is a scientist. He is a breeder. And ultimately, he is a trainer. Anthony of the Kanto Region has arrived, ready to cause storms in the world of pokemon _________ This is my first fanfiction, so don't expect too much. The first volume will be quite slow-paced, though not exactly slice-of-life themed. Also, I'll admit that the first chapter is kind of ass, so I'll say sorry in advance. Also (2), because the MC is a researcher the badge acquisition, pokemon capturing and battles might be quite in between chapters. Also, all of my pokemon knowledge are from the games, specially from GBA to Nintendo DS era (or the 2D era) so I'll focus from Kanto to Unova, however, demands can sway me of course.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Welcome to the World of Pokémon

Note: I'm going to be honest, this chapter is not that good, but I promise for better ones. Also, I must say that the first volume is more on the Slice of Life side, there will be more actions in later volumes.

Also, There might be inconsistences, so please point it out.

__________

Kanto Region, Fuchsia City, home of the Poison-type Gym of the region. Pidgeys flew above head of everyone in the city, creating a V formation to maximize air resistance and make their flock more aerodynamic. Inland, Machops and Machokes assisted workers and elderly ladies in lifting heavy boxes or sacks of rice and Pokémon food that they would otherwise struggle to lift or risk hurting themselves if they had to do it themselves.

In the streets, the cars, buses, and bikes are manned and enforced by intern Officer Jennies. Despite the sweat dripping all over their foreheads, they, alongside their trusty Growlithe, cheerfully used their batons to ensure that there would be no jams in intersections. Of course, traffic violators are not so cheerfully given tickets.

Meanwhile, in public training fields, trainers face together on both sides, commanding their newly caught Rock and Ground-type Pokémon respectively in a bid to familiarize themselves with their new partners and also so that they will have a type advantage if they ever challenged the Poison Gym of the City. In the seats were children who wanted to become trainers themselves or other trainers who were scheduled for a match, both cheering on the two trainers.

The world of Pokémon is littered by scenes of Pokémon and humans living together and helping one another, while some Pokémon are aggressive and need no provocation to attack a human; most Pokémon are friendly, or at worst, indifferent to their existence.

However, in a hospital, a man looked at himself in a mirror, his forehead had a bandage wrapped around it, while he was wearing a patient's gown. While staring at his reflection, confused, the man, or, by appearance, the boy, felt a tumultuous wave of headache coming from the right side of his forehead.

_Where the fuck is this?_

The boy thought to himself as he ignored the headache, he had just finished ordering the latest Nintendo console and was about to have another intense overtime in his work for the games. And then the next morning, he saw himself, no, not himself anymore, but a boy with that body he could strangely control.

As the boy thought of all this, the door to what looked like a hospital room opened.

"Chan...?"

The boy's eyes widened, shock evident on them as he saw who or what it was that opened the door. It was a pink-colored creature, the shape of an egg, with its head that's adorned by three hair-like organelles on each side, resembling a nurse cap, while its two fingerless hands are resting in a large egg that's inside the creature's belly pouch.

_This is..._

The boy can't help but hesitate in his judgment, thinking that maybe he was being tricked by his mind, but the headache made the man realize that this possibility has an abysmally low chance of being the truth.

This pink egg with legs is a Chansey, a Pokémon, iconic for being the partner Pokémon of every Nurse Joy in the world of Pokémon.

The boy, formerly known as Alfred but now known as Anthony Dover, has transmigrated to the Pokémon world, and as he realized that, the Chansey who saw him standing up put on an angry expression.

"Chansey! Chan! Sey!"

It shouted, though Anthony is not particularly convinced of its anger, of course, in order to rest, he said "Sorry" while looking at the Chansey that's waving its fingerless hands around while berating Anthony with "Chan!" and then "Sey!" repeatedly.

Groggily going back to his hospital bed, Anthony was finally able to have some peace and quiet as the Chansey quieted down, it then put the egg out of its pouch and put it in a medical utility cart that has a hole in the middle of the first rack, apparently for the stability of the egg.

Alfred and Anthony, watching this, were finally able to integrate each other's memories; now Anthony was able to remember how did he ended up in a hospital. In summary, the former Anthony was promised by his mom, Hana Dover, a retired pokemon trainer that Anthony can ride her Charizard when he turned 7, there has been an opposition about this promise from his still active trainer dad, Ben Dover saying to save it when he's 10 so that he can be mature enough and avoid incidents, but Hana insisted.

And indeed, an accident happened, Anthony, being a child was too excited, jumping around since the beginning of the day and didn't even ate a single slice of his cake, so, when the time of flying arrived, no, before that, Anthony wriggled too much in the hands of Charizard, causing him to fall head first when he was just at the eye level of the orange beast.

It was already his 2nd day in the hospital, his father, upon learning of this, immediately rode his Fearow and abandoned a tournament so that he could come as fast as possible for his son.

_Apparently, he's in Hoenn at the time of the incident, which is surprising for someone who's using a Pokémon to fly... Father might be a very exceptional trainer... and Mother is too, considering her Charizard and the Gyarados she has used to go as fast as possible on the other side of Fuchsia City._

When Anthony finished thinking of what happened to him, the door once again creaked open, and a disgruntled woman appeared alongside a doctor, apparently a doctor of humans, as she doesn't have pink hair.

Anthony recognized the disgruntled woman to be his mother, she have a little bit of brash personality and seem to still live out to her trainer days by letting kids challenge her, normally, she would pound them to the ground until they come out of the battle crying while saying things like "I will get you one day!" or something like that.

"Gyarados is just worried about my son. Why are the Officer Jennies giving me a penalty? Can't they understand that Pokémon have sympathy towards their trainers' children?"

Hana Dover sighed as if she was wronged; however, a man besides him, who had his arm latched around Hana's waist, Ben Dover, looked at his wife strangely.

"Dear, Gyarados' body is in he middle of the road while its giant head is peeking through the window, there's a 4-hour traffic jam because of it. Of course, the Officer Jennies would get angry."

Hana once again sighed at this, looking as if unconvinced, while the Doctor just smiled awkwardly at this and immediately changed the topic.

"According to the city scans conducted on your son, he should be good to go after 2 more days of observation as long as he ate Chansey's eggs three times a day during that period."

The two parents sighed in relief at this, and even Hana who is famously known to have a tough love style of parenting, as evident of how strong the couple's pokemons are felt genuine relief at this, after all, it was her that promised something so reckless to her son and she was also the one too late to catch him from falling.

No mother wanted their son to fall five feet up and then fall unconscious for a whole day, after all.

"I'm sorry, son."

Hana sighed again while shaking her head, making her tough personality melt as much as her pride could to reveal how guilty she felt about this incident.

"It's okay, Mom, where's Charizard?"

Anthony used what the former owner of the body would have asked if he were in this situation.

"It's very emotional, so it took the incident harder and put the blame on itself, so Charizard will be gone for a few days, perhaps a week, before finally having the face to see you again."

Anthony slowly nodded, though this motion made him squint his eyes as his headaches acted up again. This caused his parents to worry; however, Chansey coaxed them to stop as he finally finished prying open the top of its egg.

"Chansey!"

Chansey made a drinking gesture while putting up its most serious expression, though because Chansey is designed as a mascot of the Pokémon Center, the egg-shaped Pokémon looks cute while doing so.

Anthony took the egg from its tray and then drank it full.

_That's sweet... and delicious... I hope medicines back on Earth are as good as this._

Anthony drank the medicinal egg full and couldn't help but think.

_If not for that medicine, I would still be vomiting left and right. Concussions are no joke, thankfully, this body has no internal bleeding... hmm... I'm too calm for a person that's in a stranger's body..._

Anthony watches a lot of animes and reads novels about a protagonist who transmigrated and is surprisingly calm because of their shitty life, but Anthony's life in the previous world is not that shitty he landed on a good company that has a reasonable promotion and salary rise process, and overtime is optional, except the times when they have clients.

_Is it because my memories and Anthony's have merged?_

Anthony thought, though, soon, due to his unusual calmness, he decided to just discard these thoughts.

_Welcome to the World of Pokémon to me, I guess..._

_____________

Two Days have passed since the transmigration of Anthony that started from him getting hospitalized, he is now standing before giants of varying shapes and in the back of these giants is the one story house of the Dover family, apparently, Ben, Anthony's father cancelled all of his tournaments and had an early vacation to spend time with his son who was just hospitalized.

Anthony looked at the large Pokémon in front of him, amazement at the fact that these creatures could now be seen by him and even had worried looks because of his recent hospital discharge.

_If I remember correctly, the one on the left is the core team of my mom, while the one on the right is my dad's._

From Anthony's left, except for Charizard, there's his mom's Gyarados, Kangaskhan, Venusaur, Electivire, and Scizor, while to the right is his dad's Blastoise, Breloom, Fearow, Magmortar, Manectric, and Heracross. They are not the type to ponder deeply on what Pokémon to catch, as most of the Pokémon are not that great in their first stage.

_Wow, they're really strong trainers for them to be able to control proud Pokémon like Gyarados and Charizard... not to mention Dad's Fearow breezing through Hoenn to Kanto, Mom's Pokémon team is specially built for the "hit them harder" strategy._

After greeting all of the pokemons of his parents while reveling on the feeling of his once just fever dream becoming a reality, the trio went to the wide one story house, it's a little bit in the outskirts of the city and it has a sizable lot, as big as the pokemon battle court standard with a lot of berry for Anthony's mom's Kangaskhan, Venusaur and Scizor as well as Charizard to live while the rest lives in Prof. Oak's sanctuary in Pallet Town.

Anthony also remembered that some of the Pokémon of both his parents are in Pallet Town as a rental "leader' Pokémon to guide the lab-owned or trainer-owned Pokémon, while the rest are there to maintain shape and to cut Pokémon food costs.

This is the source of income for the two couples, so they are quite well-endowed.

The couple, not being able to see each other for a while, heated up all of the dishes for Anthony's birthday 4 days ago before eating them all together. They also mixed it with some berries and Pokémon foods for the giants in their backyard to eat as a snack. After that, Anthony requested to go to his room so that he could continue reading books about Pokémon.

Of course, this is not what Anthony did, though he plans to really read all the Pokémon books later on; for now, he has to plan what he will do from now on. He's already so calm for someone who just transmigrated, so he might as well use his time for future planning.

_Now... even though this world is tamed compared to other worlds, at least I don't need to fight myself, being strong and well-travelled will still help me. Of course, I will become a trainer, who in the world who crossed over doesn't want to become one..._

Thinking of this, Anthony frowned.

_The problem is, this world has a more structured law and regulations regarding socioeconomic differences, and our income tax return just so happened to make me not qualified for a starter pokemon and needed my parents to give me one, or I need to accidentally bond with one and register that as my starter Pokémon when I turned 10..._

According to the original Anthony's memory, it was explained by his mom, Hana that the League, effectively the "world government" of some sort of the world imposed the Pokemon Starter System Centralization Act and prohibits anyone who have connections to procure a pokemon like, for example, having one of a child's parents as retired trainers or active trainers to receive the starters given by the league to 10 year old aspiring trainers.

This is also an act that prohibits aspiring Breeders, coordinators, or Pokémon Professor assistants from acquiring one, as they will usually be given by their organization a Pokémon that they will have to raise once they are accepted. Moreover, children who accidentally bonded with Pokémon are not allowed to get starters either.

This system can't be penetrated by abusers like shrewd well-off families that wanted to sell Charmanders or any other region's starters because it is already stated in a law that to preserve the best interest of both pokemons and humans, it's forbidden for anyone without a pokemon to get out of their hometown using the non transport route and also, any trades or gifts regarding pokemons are needed to be registered and preceded upon by the one and only pokemon professor of the region, in short, Prof. Oak will know that the pokemon has been gifted and automatically will disqualify the child for starters illegibility.

Now, not only are the parents of Anthony already far away from the "catching them all" delusion, they are also not inclined to give unevolved, yet experienced Pokémon of theirs to him, citing a false sense of independence if that is to happen.

Not to mention, they are also not so cruel as to beat up an Oddish or Trapinch to give to Anthony.

_This is tough love, huh..._

Anthony, in his previous life, is also a product of such a type of love, though it's the first time he has found it especially troublesome.

"Where will I get a Pokémon..."

Such is the question.
