Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Last Gamble

A group of people hurried through a dimly lit corridor, their hurried footsteps echoing off the metal walls. Their destination—a secret underground facility—was their last hope. The leader of the group, a sharp-eyed woman named Celia, turned to her companion, a broad-shouldered man named Grant.

"Are you sure this guy can save us?" Celia asked, her voice laced with desperation. "If he fails, Earth is done."

Grant gave a confident nod. "I trust him. Romeo has been studying this technology for years."

With no time to waste, they reached the door and entered a cluttered laboratory filled with tangled wires, humming screens, and blinking control panels. The air smelled of burnt circuits and unwashed clothes. At the center of the chaos sat Romeo—an aged man with dead, sleepless eyes, an unkempt beard, and fatigued hands that never seemed to stop working.

"Are you done?" Grant asked.

Romeo exhaled deeply, barely glancing at them. "Almost."

As he continued his work, Celia observed him warily. The sight of his disheveled state made her uneasy.

"It's nice to meet you," she said hesitantly, then quickly pulled back when Romeo extended his hand. "Uh... no offense, but when was the last time you took a bath?"

Romeo scoffed. "What's the point when the world is on the brink of destruction?"

Ignoring the awkward moment, Grant clapped his hands. "He's ready."

Romeo cracked his knuckles and placed his hands over a set of holographic keyboards that surrounded him. His fingers moved at inhuman speed, striking the keys so fast they blurred into streaks of light. Then, in an instant, everything around them vanished.

A Desperate Fight in Space

When the group reappeared, they were inside a massive spaceship, floating above the ruins of Earth's orbit. Alarm sirens blared, and the mechanical voice of an alien AI echoed through the ship.

"Intruders detected. Deploying security units."

Outside, an alien fleet spotted the sudden anomaly and immediately sent robotic scouts to investigate. Inside the ship, the human team armed themselves with high-tech weapons and enchanted gear.

Romeo raised a hand. "Don't worry. I've got it under control."

As he manipulated the ship's systems, the alarms abruptly stopped.

"How did you—?" Celia began, but Romeo was already guiding them forward.

They navigated through the ship's corridors until they reached a massive sealed door. Romeo examined the panel, his fingers flying over the holographic keys. A hiss of decompression sounded as the door slid open.

Then, chaos erupted.

Alien soldiers stormed in, firing high-energy plasma rounds. The team fought back with magic-infused bullets, energy swords, and combat spells. Romeo, analyzing the battlefield through his status window, shouted directions.

"Left flank incoming! Cover the rear!"

Despite their efforts, the aliens pushed them back. The humans were losing.

"How much longer, Romeo?!" Celia shouted.

Romeo gritted his teeth. "I need time!"

The enemy overwhelmed them, forcing them toward the ship's core chamber. When they reached the center, they found themselves trapped. The aliens surrounded them, their leader stepping forward with a mocking grin.

"You struggle in vain," the alien said. "Humans always crumble under pressure. Your fate is sealed."

Romeo clenched his fists, despair washing over him. Was this really the end?

"Is there another way?" Grant asked desperately.

Romeo fell to his knees, his expression hollow. "It's over…"

The alien leader laughed. "Typical humans. Once they lose hope, they accept defeat without resistance."

But then, Grant stood tall, his voice defiant. "You think this is the end? Even if we fail, another generation will rise. Another will fight. And one day, we will stop you!"

Romeo looked up, tears forming in his exhausted eyes. But instead of despair, something else took over—determination. He wiped his face and stood.

"We haven't failed yet," he declared.

Romeo placed his hands on the ship's core. Energy surged through his body, causing the ship to tremble. The alien leader's eyes widened.

"Stop him!" the alien screamed. "Absorbing the core will destroy us all!"

Romeo smiled grimly. "Then we die together."

Power flooded into him, unstable and uncontrollable. The alien leader attempted a countermeasure, using advanced calculations to stabilize the energy, but Romeo saw through it.

"If you're trying to reduce the blast, let me make it worse."

He inserted a final override code. The core exploded, flooding the chamber with an overwhelming force.

But Romeo wasn't done yet.

Breaking Reality

At the brink of death, Romeo executed his final experiment. Using the stolen alien calculations, he combined their technology with a forbidden code—one designed to break space, time, and logic.

"If these aliens can manipulate time, then so can I!"

A massive burst of energy ignited. Light swallowed everything. Time itself unraveled.

The universe reversed at impossible speed. Stars collapsed and reformed, battles rewound, events replayed over and over. Time turned back—past the invasion, past the destruction—until everything reset.

A New Beginning

Romeo gasped awake.

The morning sun streamed through his bedroom window. The scent of fresh air replaced the sterile stench of metal. He was lying in a familiar bed, but something was different.

His hands trembled as he lifted them to his face. His skin was smooth, unscarred by years of struggle. He leapt out of bed, rushed to the mirror, and stared in shock.

A young face stared back at him—his teenage self.

"It worked…" he whispered. His voice cracked, not with exhaustion, but with youthful energy. A grin spread across his face. "I can't believe it worked!"

The universe had given him a second chance.

And this time, he wouldn't fail.
