Chapter 1 - Don't wake him up.

Wu Mei never thought her morning would end up with an aching core and marks all over her body.

"What the hell?" She exclaimed, staring at the angry red lines on her arm.

She couldn't remember anyone tying her up with a rope, so where the hell did this come from? It almost looked like....

Her eyes dragged downward—slowly.

Her boobs were out. Fully on display. Red marks were scattered across her fair skin like some wild beast had claimed her. And the only thing covering the rest of her body was a thick, black fur coat.

To hide her dignity that was already trampled inside her.

Her heart dropped.

She jumped the moment her gaze landed on the man lying beside her—tall, shirtless, and absolutely not supposed to be there.

His long, dark hair spilled across the stone bed like some ethereal male lead straight out of a manhua. And yes, he was fine as hell.

But that was not the point right now!

Her hair was a mess, her skin was littered with love bites, and she was sore in places that shouldn't be sore unless you—

Oh.

Oh, no.

Even her back hurt, like it had been clawed open and sewn back together.

How did this happen?

She'd planned everything. She had a plan. A clean escape. So how the hell did she end up here…? Sleeping with a stranger who looks so appealing?!

She tried to move. No luck.

A large, muscular arm was draped across her stomach, holding her in place. One more twitch and he was definitely waking up.

Her heart raced. Her head pounded. She was going to pass out from panic. What now? What the actual hell was she supposed to do?

Think, Wu Mei. Think!

She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to recall everything.

She remembered running away from her great-grandfather's banquet due to her heat outburst that caused a ruckus, and then running into this man when she went into the cave.

He smelled like sin and everything she wanted in a man, so she made her choice to use him to quench the burning lust in her veins.

And now she was sore thinking of a way to leave without getting killed.

"Ugh..." she winced as a sharp, burning pain shot through her shoulder. She shifted carefully, checking the area. Her breath caught.

Right there on her shoulder blade was a red flame-like mark—etched into her skin like it belonged there.

What did it mean?

Just when she was thinking of how she was going to die when the stranger wakes up, an idea snapped in her mind. Why hadn't she thought of that earlier?

She was no more going through her heat, so she could shift.

She closed her eyes and shifted into her fox form, getting rid of the arm wrapped around her body, and without a care of what was going on behind her, Wu Mei zoomed out of the cave.

She didn't stop to catch her breath. Didn't even realize he had opened his eyes.

Not that she cared. She already knew—if he woke up and realized what she did, he'd probably kill her.

If he were a normal man, she might've left a thank you note. Maybe even offered a goodbye kiss.

But this? This wasn't a normal man.

She knew he was powerful, more powerful than her great grand father. That's why the first thing she had to do was runaway. After all this was just a one night stand right?

That's what she thought, but it was the start of her doom.

"Yan." Fengtian called out in a cold tone. His eyes fixated on the cave entrance. There was a cold smirk at the corner of his lips but annoyance in his gaze.

It was a first for him to be treated so coldly by a female. A fox. A stinking fox that didn't know his place.

The one called Yan appeared out of no where kneeling before Fengtian and suddenly he felt an extreme cold, he was afraid to look up and see his master's face for fear that he might be the one with his neck cut clean and crushed.

Wasn't his master in the arms of a woman? Why did he suddenly look angry?

Yan racked his brain for reasons the King might be this pissed. The only conclusion?

His master failed to satisfy the woman.

…Was Master that bad?

He didn't dare say it aloud. Sweat rolled down his temple as he waited in silence.

"Find out who she is and bring her back. That fleeing fox is your Queen." He said, grabbing his clothes and wearing them, but no matter how fast he was putting them on, he couldn't get the image of the weird lady stripping him and having her way with him, without a shred of fear.

Yan stood frozen. How could their King make an unknown woman his Queen especially when she didn't want him?

Unfortunately, Feng Tian didn't owe anyone any answers, immediately he was done dressing up, he disappeared with the wind, leaving Yan there crying for his unlucky fate.

Wu Mei finally reached her courtyard after sneaking back into the Wu house. She let out a breath of relief, unaware that her scent was already being hunted.

Just as she went to her bed, someone called out for her.

"Master, is that you?"

Wu Mei stiffened but realizing that it was just her maid that she hired, she sighed in relief.

"I am fine, bring in water so I can wash my face." She instructed, and laid on her bed. She was up all night without getting a good sleep, so all the fatigue washed on her immediately.

She checked her pulse and found that her demonic meridians were no longer chaotic which was a good thing since she woke up in this body. If she keeps cultivating, she might end up clearing the poison in her body without making use of her traditional medicine skills.

Because that would call attention she didn't need.

The door to her room was opened and Wu Mei was quick to hide her wrist inside her sleeves, it was her maid, Chao Xing, a cute young darling that Wu Mei fell in love with at first sight after meeting her in the outskirts of the Demon City.

Beaten, weak but still extremely beautiful. After Wu Mei saved her, she refused to stay and signed a soul contract with Wu Mei as a way to repay Wu Mei's kindness.

"Here is water for you, Master."

Her silvery soft voice rang out and Wu Mei had the sudden urge to grab her cute puffed up cheeks and bite them. But she coughed out that thought awkwardly.

Wu Mei squeezed out the cloth while Chao Xing placed the basin down. Then when she stood up, she gently took it from Wu Mei's hands without a word.

....

Wu Mei wanted to say something but kept her mouth shut.

Wu Mei pulled her robes off her body one by one, when she finally reached the last robe, she hesitated biting down on her lower lip. Her face was beet red but Chao Xing was patient with her, she tilted her head and blinked at her master.

As if asking with concern, if everything was okay.

Wu Mei gave her a sympathetic smile, before finally bracing herself and pulling the clothes off her body. Chao Xing gasped, her mouth falling wide open in surprise.

"Master!!!! Who did this to you!!" Chao Xing asked but Wu Mei felt dizzy trying to find ways to explain how it happened. But nothing could roll of her tongue as a valid answer.

"Just clean my body for me, Xing'er." She responded in a small, embarrassed voice, clenching her fist. Chao Xing didn't hesitate any longer. She cleaned her master gently, careful not to aggravate any wounds.

Once everything was done, Wu Mei draped herself with a silky blue robe and laid back on the bed.

Just before Chao Xing could leave with a dozen of questions in her head, Wu Mei stopped her. "Tell the housekeeper to give you a healing ointment."

"Yes master." Chao Xing bowed slightly and made a run for it.

As she closed her eyes and drifted into sleep, one thought replayed in her mind:

"If I had known what was waiting for me on the other side, I would've begged the heavens not to save me."

Because before she became a fox demon… She was just Wu Mei.

A tired doctor… who never believed in demons.
