I took a few steps backwards in surprise, creating a distance between me and the man's sword. "Old man, aren't you taking things too far?" I questioned with a look of disappointment on my face.
I don't understand what is actually wrong with people in this town, first, is the old lady's daughter trying to kill me because of just a hundred gold coins and secondly is this old man. 'can't they give me a break?' I yelled mentally.
"Kid, leave here or I'll be forced to do something bad!" The old man warned, holding his sword firmly even though his hands were shaking.
"If I were him, I'd just leave. Besides, we are just some useless weapons," the feminine voice that had spoken earlier said with a sad voice.
Leave? I ain't leaving without getting what I want. "Old man, I am not afraid of the sword in your hand, I just don't want to end up killing you by a mistake. I only want something from you and after that, I'll simply leave," I said to the man.
The man, not wanting to back off raised his sword to attack me. Before he could do anything, I was already behind him. I quickly rushed to where the energy was coming from and when I got to the place, I saw the sword.
"You are coming with me!" I said as I picked up the sword. I turned around and saw the man coming towards me with his sword, I saw a red flame at the tip of it and knew what it was.
"I won't let you live!" The man yelled and at his command, the little tongue of flame shot out towards my direction.
I was already prepared to dodge the attack but to my shock, as the flame was moving towards me, it was spreading. It kept spreading, making it difficult for me to dodge or leave the room.
The man seeing the situation I was in chuckled evilly and began to approach me, "I told you to leave but you refused, now you leave me no choice!"
"Let me help you!" The sword suddenly said and pulled away from my hand. It then flew into the air and stopped at the centre of the flames. It began to vibrate vigorously and as it did that, the flames around began to go up into the air.
Not only was I shocked, but the man was also shocked, he looked even more shocked than I was. We all watched as the sword devoured all the flames around, leaving none behind.
After devouring the flames around it, as if not enough, it vibrated and flew towards the man who was immediately taken aback. "For so long I've wanted to be free!"
After I heard the sword say this, I saw a red floating ball leave the man's body and flew toward the sword which devoured it immediately.
"That is the man's elemental core!" One of the weapons exclaimed.
"He won't be able to cast magic ever again, that serves him right!" Another weapon chipped in.
Now I understand what the sword did, the red flamy ball that left the man's body was his magic core, it devoured the man's magic core. 'The sword is really capable but what kind of weapon is that!' I inwardly thought.
'System, what sword is that?' I asked. Only the system could know what the sword is.

'This is getting interesting!' I thought as I stared at the sword. I could not believe that a day would come when I will own such a powerful sword. While I was still excited about the sword, the system sent me a message.

'Holy fuck!' I yelled in shock. I seriously didn't see this coming at all, I can't imagine it devouring me as well.
"Master, let's leave!" I heard the sword say as it flew towards me. It called me master for the first time, I should be happy but hell no! I felt shivers run my spine.
I didn't reply to it and pretended like I didn't know it could speak. Then it vibrated for a short while before replying to me, "I know you can hear me, so do not pretend."
I guess there is no escaping this time, I swallowed hard and took the sword in my hand. Since the sword is now mine, I have no other choice than to make it obey me no matter what it'll take.
At the man's hopeless watch, I left the weapon store with the sword behind my back. "Now where?" I asked as I walked out of the store. I am quite happy with today's achievements, no doubt! I earned a hundred gold coins and now an ancient sword, this was more than mere achievement.
"Hey! Do you know that Elite Mage Academy is recruiting able and intelligent students this month end?"
"I heard that too, I wish I could be one of them, it has been my wish to be an EMA student!"
"In your dreams bro! People like us can't afford that Academy so you should stop dreaming already!"
I watched these two boys talk and I couldn't help but pity them. The only Elite Academy I know is the one located in the central town, since when did it become an Elite Mage Academy?
Today is the tenth day of the month, I still have up to twenty days to prepare for the Academy if I wanted to be one of them. Talking about money, I need to make enough money for the Academy.
"The days ahead won't be easy at all!" I mumbled as I looked up to the bright sky.
