Chapter 16 - Welcome To Silver City

I looked out of the window and I could see lots of people, cars and buildings. Definitely, we were in a city! The place looked so beautiful.

I stood up and carried my bag and then approached the man, glaring at him. Besides him was a map, it turns out that he found a map leading to the city which was why we were able to arrive at the city before the dark.

"You are very lucky, thank your stars!" I mumbled to him before leaving the bus. Behind me, I heard him heave a long sigh, he must be relieved, I guess.

As I came down from the bus, I looked around me, the tall buildings, beautiful ladies and handsome men, fine cars and many other things. These were all that make a city.

The sun was hastily setting and so I needed to find a place to stay for the night before I find a place to live. Knowing nowhere, I opted to go west and thus, I turned around and began to walk, searching for any available cheap hotel.

Lastly, I found a fine hotel by the end of the road, it was not all that busy like the ones I had come across but it was worth a try and so I crossed over and walked up to it. Entering the place, I was shocked to see how busy it was inside.

There were so many people inside the hotel, eating and drinking while watching a group of young ladies dancing for money. The ladies were pretty for sure but showcasing their bodies was something I didn't buy at all, I would never wish for my partner to be like one of them.

Realizing the line of my thoughts, I shook my head, literally shaking those thoughts out of my head, I haven't even made money yet, I'm already thinking of having a girlfriend.

"Mister, what can I get for you?"

While I was dealing with myself, a fair pretty lady walked up to me, with a smile on her face. To be honest, I was enthralled but remembering my long-time plan, I shook off the thought and acted like the gentleman I am.

"I need a plate of rice and roasted fish and also, a bottle of wine to taste. A cheap one if you don't mind," I replied, adding the last line with a clear of the throat.

The girl chuckled, her chuckle sounded like sweet music to my ears, but then I wouldn't allow myself to be carried away. "Sure, there is a cheap wine. Have a seat while I get your orders," she replied after a while and then turned around and walked away.

I watched her walk away and then sighed and went ahead to take a seat by the corner of the place. "The men here are sure rich and generous!" I mumbled to myself as I watched how the men were throwing money at the dancing girls.

"Of course! They would rather spend all their money on pretty young girls than use them for something far more important."

I turned around and saw a young boy who could be of the same age as me standing by the side of my table. I didn't immediately reply to his comment but he chuckled slightly and took the empty seat opposite me.

"I don't remember asking you to sit there," I said while glaring at him. So much audacity for a kid his age!

"Haha, since I wasn't welcomed, I welcomed myself. By the way, my name is Aidan, a level three hunter, how about you?" He said with an outstretched hand.

I glared at him for a while before looking away. First, he came uninvited, second, he introduced himself without me asking for it. Isn't this kid going a bit too far?

I watched him retreat his hand with a smile curved at the end of his lips, he wiped his hand on his clothes and pretended as if nothing had happened.

"If not for my new job, I wouldn't be in this godforsaken place in the first place!" He mumbled as he stared at the men throwing money in disgust. He must have the same mindset as me, or else why would he not be enjoying what they were doing? Talking about the job he just mentioned, it must be related to the one I overheard on the bus but I wouldn't be the one asking him about it rather, I'll wait till he spills it.

He didn't say a word again and didn't turn to look at the dancing girls and the men throwing their money, I noticed his eyes were fixed on the bracelet he was wearing and it piqued my curiosity.

"Here is your order!"

I heard the girl say as she approached my table with the tray of food in her hand, she dropped it on the table and made to turn but then the boy stopped her.

"Could I get the same order, please!" He said to the girl who nodded and walked away.

My mind was telling me something but I didn't want to believe it because that would be something I wouldn't want to do. Soon, the girl returned and served him as well. In no time, the boy began munching his food, the way he ate, one would assume that he has been starving for days.

"Hey! Why don't you eat your food?" He asked seeing that I wasn't eating.

I didn't say a word and also began to eat my food, the meals here were tasty and nice, definitely worth the try.

"Damn! The food here is something I never expected to be this awesome!" The boy said as he gulped down his drink. I couldn't agree less either, the meals were indeed awesome. "Hey! I know you are kinda lost and stranded, looking for a place to stay. How about you pay for my meals while I let you into my apartment?" The boy said with a cunning smile on his face.

"I knew it! This guy was up to no good!"
