"My life has been a whole series of accidents, some of them happy, some not."

You know what I love about college? The fact that I can get up and leave when a lecture feels boring. Of course, I never said there wouldn't be any consequence for trying to leave, my professor loves to make my life harder.
I gathered up my books as quietly as I could threw my bag over my shoulder and started to creep towards the door while my professor was talking to the other half of the class. I don't know why I even bother waking up this early in the morning to be here in the first place. I began to reach for the door handle when my professor spun around and stared right at me. Busted.
He smiles at me innocently but if you could see his eyes, they told another story, one full of aggravation and it was all directed at me.
"Axel since you know everything and always leave my class early can you tell me what a zygote is?"
"A diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid gametes" I could hear small laughter around the room. What did he think I would get his question wrong? What nonsense I thought as I smiled back at him. Then I turned back towards the door.
Seemingly annoyed by his student's laughter and my responses his innocent smile now matched his eyes as you could see a wide frown forming quickly.
"Humph, very well. Make sure you complete the project due two weeks from now and you're all free to go we can cut this lesson short" he said his back facing the rest of us now as he erased the board and then turned to look at me.
Project? What kind of joke is this my hand slipped off the door handle. I stood there motionless the rest of the class dead silent as well. I couldn't remember him telling us about any project. Let alone one due in two weeks. I glanced across the room real fast to look at my classmates, surely someone would've told me. They all looked just as shocked as me, they also had no clue what he was talking about. I finally turned back around facing the professor looked him straight in his eyes so I could ask the question on everyone's mind. "Project? We never had a project due!!".
"Well, you see you are in fact correct but due to your lack of interest today and, since you act like you know all my material, I'm assigning the whole class a project. As of now they will have to pick up the "interest" you don't seem to have, feel free to help them. Details will be posted online in three days class dismissed."
Great... I turned around to see the whole class staring at me, not the happiest of looks. "I'm sorry guys!"
Their eyes could tell a story, a story of an army against one singular man except they all have their swords drawn and I'm barehanded so when I say if looks could kill, I'm sure I would have died about ten times over at that moment.
"Here let me get the door for you "Professor Smith said holding the door open with a big smile.
Now if this wasn't pettiness at its finest. "Thanks" I said slowly walking out and down the halls. What a dumb class I pay for it and still can't leave without some type of crap happening but necessary still for me. As I walked outside my morning class was over and it was now around noon. As the crowd of people swarmed the campus and began to change classes.
"Hey Axel" A voice I uncomfortably recognized spoke. Not sure how anyone would even find me in this crowd of people bumping into each other constantly.
"Hey Katie" I said back in a low voice. Hoping she couldn't hear me over the chatter of everyone else.
This girl really loves to bother me especially when I just want to get through my day. Like that's been going well so far anyway.
"Living up to your name I see giving the whole class a project now including me! Or did you forget I was even in there?
"Haha you're still in that class? I didn't think you had enough brain power for it" I smirked.
You sure you're not just trying to pick a fight with everyone?" She said shoving me on the ground.
Katie was a childhood friend how in the world did we end up both going to the same college I'll never know. I remember she was smart but her actions always contradicted that. She was cute too probably one of life's favorites. She was blonde and not the stereo-type ditzy and clueless blonde, she was more on the say the wrong thing and I'll be waiting for you outside of school blonde. Wait...? Do those even exist? Anyway, she's a rare breed.
"How long you going to stare at me from down there with those brown bug eyes of yours? I don't get you at all, always keeping to yourself. Go out and be spontaneous, join a sports club you're at least athletic looking, or just not come to school altogether so I won't get involved with your games!" She screamed.
"Mr. Lune, Ms. Windsor!"
This had to be absolutely the last voice I wanted to hear and the highpoint of my bad luck that seemed to be increasing by the minute. How did he even spot us in this crowd? I looked around and could only see him coming closer. Because of Katie's little outburst and pushing me I realized we were in the center of a small circle with tons of people on the outside of it. What did they think I was going to fight her? Well, I hope they enjoy the show.
"Chancellor Saze" we both said bowing our heads.
"I have been tasked with watching over this prestigious university for those of you talented enough to attend. This is a disappointment, and I don't want to waste any more time on the matter. You are both dismissed for the remainder of the day. I will be informing the rest of your professors for the day that you both won't be attending their lectures." He gestured towards the schools' front gates. Giving the rest of the crowd a death stare as the students quickly dispersed back into their classrooms.
"Yes sir" we both said in unison as I watched Katie storm off looking back a couple times at me, rage all over her face. I walked off campus to the parking lot across the street they had for students and got into my car. I turned the keys in the ignition and realized my car was not moving smoothly at all. Flat tires. Well I guess somebody from biology class was not happy and decided to take the rest of their frustration out on my car. I'll deal with this tomorrow I could use a walk anyway. I started on my way home just replaying everything that happened in my head over and over. The walk wasn't too bad, but I was exhausted from the events that took place today. I thought about everything so much I didn't even realize I was at my front door.
What a guy, dismissing us over a little dispute. I guess it was my fault anyway just like everything else today.
"YOOOOOOO AXEL."
Oh God I just want to sleep.
"Hey Lex" my roommate was my best friend or rather I was his and he grew on me. I even gave him a nickname cause saying Alexander every time made me feel overly formal with him and I don't need anything going to his head anymore than it already does. He was a game tester and designer, so his life was just a bunch of scenarios at random. An endless world of problems and solutions, conflict and peace, and so much more. I wonder if he gets virtuality and reality mixed up sometimes honestly. Clearly, he couldn't tell that I was not in the mood.
"Come play this new game with me I'm trying out; it won't be released until the end of this year." Eagerly shoving a controller out towards me. I grabbed it and contemplated his offer of escaping away by playing something mindless, I could be anyone or anything else, that wasn't currently myself.
"No thanks" I said as I put the controller down and walked upstairs drained from the events that occurred in such a terrible sequence. Maybe I'll just get some rest. That's what I wanted to do but my mind kept wandering. Over and over, I kept thinking of the events that happened today. There's always something that I say wrong when I should be keeping things to myself. This always happens. I took a deep breathe i thought about holding it untill I passed out but chose not to. "what's the purpose of any of this" Pointless so pointless.
*click* I turned on the tv "tonight in the town of Shadow Brook there will be a meteor shower shooting across the horizon. This will be the first time on this side of the planet we will be able to see one right from our bedside windows." *click* well that's enough news for me.
Later on I finally decided to get out of bed and went outside for a jog as the sun was beginning to set, I guess that walk home took longer than I thought it did. I made my usual rounds to the park and ran a few laps around the outskirts to try and clear my mind of what happened today. I suddenly couldn't see as the sun set into the golden hour the perfect time to take pictures and I wish I could have captured on camera what was about to happen next. As the suns beams blinded me for a few seconds.
-SPLASH-
I guess someone else was coming the opposite way. That's what I get for not being able to see, I guess I should of stopped moving. Technically not my fault fully but I'm sure the person I just body checked into the pond doesn't want to hear that.
…..
Wait a minute. I looked at who I made fly headfirst into the park pond. Don't I know them? I was really hoping I could get away with an apology and leave.
"Nice going stupid, sometimes you make a dumbass look smart you know that?"
If I could hide under a rock, I would. Worst day of the year award goes to today. You've got to be kidding me.
"Heyy Katie, what are you doing out here? At this time of day." Inching backwards slowly until I tripped and fell back onto a bench. Nowhere to go now I suppose.
"Going for a late-night swim I guess what else, since you can't seem to see with all this sun out you must think its night" as she squeezed out her shirt glaring at me slowly walking forward.
"I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going are you ok?" Maybe if I act more concerned, I'll get off lightly.
"Obviously you had no idea where you were going. Your head was so damn far up in the clouds, I'm surprised you stayed on the trail in the first place. I came out here same reason as you to clear my head! After that school embarrassment. Looks like I fell right into another one, damn was the sun in your eyes? Actually we won't use that as an excuse, or you'll feel you can brush this off. This was obviously a mistake" she said.
"Well sorry about that again I'll be on my way" I stood up and began to hurry past her I could feel something grab my shirt and pull me back hard. I was stuck and I accepted my fate.
"Oh, I'm soaking wet, and you just get to go home dry and it's all have a nice day bye? What kind of fantasy story do you think you're living in. I'll tell you what you're going to do, you're going to walk me home and make sure no creeps try to come onto me while I'm soaking wet."
"You're not even that attrac-"
-WHACK-
Just like that another unfortunate event added to my day. I'm starting to think I should keep my mouth closed more often and my eyes open for what life will throw my way next. Now my face is throbbing, bright red, and I'm accompanying this walking puddle of sunshine to her home. You've got to be kidding me.
I've never been over to Katie's new home now that I think about it. Since we were kids her parents would never stay in one place and travel around the world so of course she's a wealthy girl because she sure didn't get into the same school as me with her brain. Sadly she was usually home alone. I'd be more afraid of getting kidnapped then guys making wet jokes at me if I were her. I never would want anything to happen to her though, so I guess this is what happens.
"We're here" she said pushing me inside. What a big house this is very spacious she really stays here? Would be very lonely to stay here by yourself but I don't think Katie is that type of girl to care anyway. I could see old pictures of us on the table close by the kitchen and many pictures of thier happy family hung on the walls.
"So now I can leave right? Why am I inside? This was not part of the deal". From bad luck to confusion this day just needs to end.
She looked at me intensely and got closer "my parents aren't home."
"They're never home" I said trying not to look at her shirt sticking to her skin "don't you need to go change or are you dry now" I nervously expressed laughing.
She moved closer to me, step by step she took one forward and me one back until my back was up against the wall. She put her hands on my shoulders and leans closer pinning me, I can feel her warm breath on my neck. My body started to get hot, I was holding my breath close to passing out it was hard to focus on anything else but her gaze, I never felt this way before is this how she really feels about me? I guess I never looked at her that way before as I started to notice the curves her body made. She starts to run her hand up my arm until I can feel her holding my face her hands warm, I wonder if she can feel the blood rushing to my face. I can feel her wet clothes pressed against me as well as something soft on my chest, but I dare not look down scared I might skip past her hazel eyes and wonder off into oblivion. She whispered something in my ear, but I was to focused on her to pay attention. All I could hear now was laughter.
"Wait what did you say?" I ask her as she starts moving away from me and walking to the staircase she turned around and smiled.
"I said what a dumbass you should see the look on your face right now. I can only imagine what dirty pornos or silly anime you must watch thinking anything like this would happen with us in real life Hahaha I suggest you keep your mind out the gutter." She squinted looking me directly in the face for a second.
"Your bloods on the outside I don't think humans are supposed to turn that shade of red you know. I had to get you back for making me dive into a 3-foot pond headfirst" she smiled laughing.
"Thanks for the company, buddy. I'll see you at school soon ok." As she disappeared upstairs, I decided it was time to go. Embarrassed and upset with how that turned out. I never even saw her as attractive or worth my time anyway. We just have a long history with each other that's all. I kept telling myself. You know the lies you live are your truths or so they say…. Right?
As I was walking making my way back home it was already nighttime.
Oh, they were right! Looking off into the sky I could see streaks of light beaming across. Is this how meteor showers always looked? So many radiant colors. The news is never right as I stood there silently and enjoyed possibly the one good thing about today.
Huh.... why does that one look like it's coming this way? I must just be tired. As I pressed the button for the cross walk. Time to get moving again I guess the shows about over.
In the middle of the intersection, I could see it.
*BOOM*
All I could see was smoke and a crater half the size of my house to my left. The explosion knocked me off my feet dulling my senses everything got blurry as I picked myself off the pavement trying to get out the road I fell back over again. I couldn't hear the horn of the truck who couldn't see me through the smoke and dust the impact of the meteor made.
Swerving around the hole in the road the back wheel fell inside and burst open into pieces. I could finally see the sparks flying off in the air from where the metal rim was scraping the ground I glimpsed the driver turning the wheel as hard as he could to try and avoid me, to late as I watched the truck flip instead. When I finally was able to pull myself together all I could see was a car barreling toward me. I dove out the way only to feel myself still impacted by the side of the vehicle that sent me flying across the crosswalk rolling until I had made it across to the other side but not how I intended to. Hitting my head on the pole standing tall at the other end I felt a warm mouth full of blood I forcefully coughed out along with the rest of the air I had in my lungs. I could no longer pick myself back up again as things slowly started to fade to black.
