Chapter 1 - Prologue

heavy rain and thunder pouring down, the sight of two people can be seen from afar with a Burning school dormitory as the backdrop between them one with a sword plunged deep into the other

the girl her breath unstable as she desperately tried to keep her composure, her purple hair swept across her face by force of the wind helping to hide her expression and tearful honey colored eyes

the boy bleeding profusely held a strange grin, light from his black eyes growing dimmer as every second passes by his green hair mixed with blood and rain and the innumerable cuts all over both of their bodies showing the fight that happened merely seconds earlier

as he chuckled blood came out of his mouth

"hah, so this is how it ends, is that right? princess Kaya"

Kaya stays silent for a couple seconds before asking a question in her choked voice

"why? why did you have to go this far Adrian?"

As she spoke her question her voice started seeming more and more distant to Adrian's ears but he tried his hardest not to fall towards that never ending slumber "why you ask? no reason in particular, its just how things have to b-"

Kaya interrupted him, her tone a mix of agitation and saddness "dont give me that bullshit! Adrian Stellaris tell me the real reason, tell it to me and explain how this was all a misunderstanding, ask for help anything Adrian please!"

it was hard for Adrian to differentiate whether what's falling down her cheeks is tears or rain

"Kaya" Adrian says in a commanding tone prompting her to stop talking

"We are going to re-read this from the beginning, okay? princess Kaya protected the academy from the clutches of her evil brother"

"n-no!" as tears continued to streak down her face Adrian tried to go and caress his sister's head

..but before he was able to his vision grew too dim— his hands went limp right before reaching her his life memories flashing before his eyes,

a sad excuse of a prince who held no magic ability, the prince who's only supporter was his sister, the most pitiful prince, prince Adrian, that's how the world remembers Adrian and most importantly, how Adrian views himself.

as he was about to succumb a faint memory started playing alongside these memories, a memory he didn't recall having….

a memory of a tower, one that seemed to be located somewhere in a secluded area inside the castle The castle appeared to have overgrown plants all over it.

Adrian noticed he was holding the hands of a beautiful lady whose green hair fluttered so beautifully and whose black eyes held untold stories, whose entire figure seemed to radiate from the sunset

in a voice as warm as the ocean she said

"Adrian, honey you have to promise mommy something"

Adrian without noticing it answered in a voice much younger sounding than his actual age

"Yes mommy, what is it?"

his mother seemed reluctant for a bit but proceeded to state her question

"You have to promise me that you'll live happily okay? no matter what happens live for yourself"

before he could answer his scenery changed and what he saw next was a memory that made his breathing become haggard- it was the same tower except there were no overgrown plants but rather fire and rubble,

In the intense vortex of flames the view of his mothers burnt corpse could be seen, without thinking twice Adrian ran towards the front of the castle to his mothers body, the flame burning him but he disregarded it, only caring about going and getting his mother.

but his small body couldn't pull her out of the debris no matter how hard he tried.

without thinking, this small body that should've according to his memories been unable to process and use magic had magic aura surrounding it, a fearsome magical aura with a deep color of silver pushed all the debris in a strong gust of wind, he desperately tried to pull his mother out but due to overexerting his body the fire overtook him.

as he was burning he felt this strong magical power wash over him and his mothers body he tried looking towards the source of the magical power but the fire had stopped him from seeing clearly, however he reflexively knew who it was, just from the long luscious deep purpled colored hair he spotted, he ended up calling the name of the owner of the magic

"your majesty Marian!"

but his father didn't respond to him, he only stood there unmoving his silver colored eyes looked deeply at Adrian

Adrian continued to beg his father for help

"please help us your majesty, please"

yet his majesty didn't move.

"dad please.." the smoke and fire which had been calmed down earlier by the emperor's magic power had resurfaced and began slowly boiling the kid on fire

Adrian wanting to live no matter what tried using the magic power that he used at first despite never being able to use magic he was proficient with theory, it's the only way his current self was able to reach the prestigious magical school with his sister, he recited the magic spell for water but something stopped him, a translucent screen appeared in front of him with a warning sign

[Unauthorized use of magic detected!]

[this is a memory being replayed, changing of such memories is strictly prohibited!]

before he was able to understand what was in front of him he felt his soul get pushed out of his body leaving him be in a third person perspective his soul which resembled how his present self was looking at the situation in confusion

as he saw his father finally choosing to go save him, with one swipe of his hand the fire seemed to listen to his order as if he was not the emperor of humans but the emperor of flames, he then called over his attendant who was standing in the shadows and told him

"pick up the kid, leave the woman."

Adrian felt an intense sense of anger pile up in him as he tried to go closer and try to save his mother

...but he simply phased through her

he tried screaming for help but nothing came out, however he didn't stop and continued trying to scream as hard as he can until he heard a voice

"you know screaming wont help you right?"

Adrian turned his head to face the source of the face, what he saw in front of him was a white light in the shape of a human

Adrian looked at the white light with suspicion and anger, he mouthed the sentence

"Who are you?"

the white light understanding what he said replied

"I go by many names, you can call me Hastur however"

before Adrian could ask more about the light it continued talking

"I've been following your story for a while now, a tragedy from start to finish, truly how saddening so how would you feel if you could do it all over again? a retry ill even tell you a fun fact that should definitely provide much help for you"

although the white ball of light didnt have any discernable facial features to note it was obvious that a devilish grin was plastered across its face or where its face should be

Adrian stood there in confusion not understanding what's happening in the slightest

he tried to understand piece by piece by mouthing questions towards the ball of light

"do it all over again?"

the ball of light chuckled "of course i mean regression doesn't it sound nice?"

"and why should i trust you? to me you seem like a big voyeurism fan and that's it"

the ball of light looked deep into Adrian's soul form and answered

"of course you don't have to trust me in the end im nothing more than an opportunity giver"

Adrian looked deep in thought for a couple seconds that felt like a couple centuries to him

"what do you gain from this?"

the ball of light answered after a long pause

"To know the answer of that question you'll have to agree to my proposal"

Adrian floated in deep thought and after a while his face had the look of someone who made up his mind

he mouthed for one last time-
