Countless arrows arrows flew one after the other in a fast succession at Lucian making him realize this wasn't as light as he thought.
Since he didn't have any weapons that can counter the unknown archer at the moment, he decided to escape and find a place to hide and decided on what to do.
The arrows stopped for a few seconds and Lucian decided to make his move. He broke the shaft of the arrow leaving the head still embedded in his thigh. He leapt forward and run with all his might on one leg while limping on the other.
Just as he thought he has created a good distance between himself and the unknown person hunting him, he heard a whistling sound and just then an arrow embedded itself in front of him.
"Oh sh*t" Lucian cursed, not knowing what to do next.
At that moment, a squirrel moving on a tree in front of him caught his attention. He grew up in a contryside, surrounded by woods and large trees.
Climbing was just one of the things he grew up doing and with the trees lined and connected through branches, it was the perfect escape route.
Since the trees were big, he decided to find a much smaller one he could climb. But before that, he decided to lure away his pursuer before he made his escape.
He took a left turn and run for almost ten minutes nonstop with blood still dripping from the wound. When he deemed he has created a good distance between him and the his hunter, he tore the arm of his cloth and tied the wound to stop the bleeding before climbing a nearby tree to make his escape.
After climbing the tree, a message popped up in front of him making him realize something.
"Sh*t, why didn't I think of this earlier"
[Do you want me to scan your surroundings]
"Yes" Lucian replied. He has almost forgotten about the system and the help it could offer.
After a few seconds, Nexus sent his report.
[The host's current location is Direland, located on the border between the western and northern continent. It houses some of the most dangerous beasts in the world and also one of the most skilled hunters in the world. If this person is the one training you, then I don't really know if you're lucky or unlucky]
"I knew this was going to be hard but I didn't know this hard. Damn you old man"
————————————
Somewhere in Frostgate town, Aaron sneezed.
————————————
[The Direland ends five miles away from here, if host is able to get there, you'll be out of his reach for now]
"Good, thank you Nexus"
With that information he moved on the trees, carefully picking stronger branches, moving from one tree to the other. He moved like that for almost three hours before taking a break out of exhaustion.
"How far am I from leaving his territory, Nexus"
[Just about five hundred meters]
Upon hearing five hundred meters, he deemed it wasn't that far and so decided to move out of the dangerous zone before resting.
A few minutes later, a text appeared in front of him making him frown.
[I think host should consider going back]
"Why?" Lucian asked out of both surprise and fear.
[I just scanned a few meters ahead of us and the least creature I recorded was Rank 4.]
"F*ck"
Lucian felt helpless and frustrated as he began to think of what to do next. He was caught between the devil and hell fire.
He was currently weak and not even up the beginner rank.
Defeating a Rank 1 Monster was already troubling enough, not talking about Rank 4. He would just die a miserable death.
He decided to go back instead. If even the man hunting him hurt him, he wouldn't kill him.
And even now that he had Nexus who could tell his location, he believed he could use the unknown man's own territory against him.
He took a different route back, moving on the trees the way he came. After deeming there was no immediate danger, he climbed down from the tree.
"Scan and see if you could find a place for me to rest" Lucian asked the system immediately went to work. He was still bleeding from the wound, which was taking a toll him. He needed to stop the bleeding and heal the wound and so he needed to find a temporary resting place.
Lucian understood his situation:He was currently in the middle of nowhere, with no place to escape to.
There was only one way, and that was to face what was in front of him.
A few seconds later, Nexus reported on his finding.
[A found a little make over shade three hundred meters east from here]
After receiving the message and directions, Lucian headed east and walked for about ten minutes before reaching the place.
It was a cave like shade, made from three branches and looked like normal leaves of a tree. It was the perfect camouflage he needed at the moment. Lucian pulled out the branches carefully. He entered and carefully closed it leaving no trace of contact.
He sat down on the ground and leaned against one of the top soil roots and took out his dagger and a recovery potion from his Storage rage ring. The rejuvenation potion was a highly potent one that his Aunt Anna specifically made for him.
It was made from rare herbs and ingredients his grandfather gathered from his adventures. He cut off the legs of his clothes and divided one of the cut pieces into two before tieing it to cover his mouth. He took the dagger and breathed heavily in and out before piercing the tip through the arrow wound. He forced himself from screaming as he tried to remove the head of the arrow that was stuck after he broke the shaft earlier.
Two minutes later, the metallic piece fell onto the ground as fresh blood oozed out of the wound. He took the other piece of cloth and tore it into two, tieing his thighs strongly. He took the small bottle of rejuvenation potion and poured half of the content onto the wound before drinking the rest.
Some seconds later, the pain subsided as the wound began to heal rapidly.
He looked to the east where sun was already setting. Since darkness would come soon, he decided to eat supper and rest at the place for the night then decided his next move the next day.
