Wind swept across fields of white, sending waves across the floral carpet as the thin, small flowers rose and fell. As far as the eye could see, all one color, contrasting sharply to the red woods that the fields crept up to, thorny braken bush set up along the outskirts, as if to keep outsiders away, and yet not high enough nor thick enough if one really had the intention to enter. However, if one could see the red woods with one eye, they could only see white with the other, unless they walked till it removed itself from the former eye, walked several lenghs more snd perhaps they might once again see red woods with the latter, so large were these fields of white set on almost completely flat ground, a light mist over top of it, thick enough to block out the worst of the suns rays, but not to make it impossible to see for several kilomters of field. This mist wasn't from the sky, but rose up from the flowers they guarded, and if breathed too much, could bring the most healthy individual to their kneels and then to pass away, after writhing about in sever pain, wailing of terror-stricken illusions. If in the center, all you might see was white, both above and below, but few knew the truth of this, because one bad been able to walk to the center, much less across it, and yet, today, a red trail of blood now made its way over the fields of white. The bright red cut through the white sheet like a long, searing tear in a clean mourning gown, but the perpetrator had no qualms of this blemish they made, only striking farther in toward the center; shouts emerging from the red woods that bordered the fields as her pursuers lined the edge, hesitating to step out like herself, before a few unfortunates were thrust out into the white in front, and yet, barely a few breaths and one could already see them wheezing and dealing in pain, delusions appearing in their eyesight.
"Crazy!" Scowled the man in front. He had a tall face, and a proud chin, with a brow that deepened the fierceness of his eyes. "She chose poison to any quiet or useful death!" He stood there for several more minutes, as red sap fell on his broad shoulders from above, staining his dark cloak and hair darker. He watched, immobile, his eyes not leaving her humble form, until the men pushed out into the flowers ran back past him, not daring to spend any more time out there and begging him and the rest for any antidotes they might carry. They didn't. There was no cure for those flowers, despite the encouragement to discover it, even the one who lived amongst them had no cure. He sighed, raising his hand. "Then let her die, her corpse will be irretrievable; everyone may retreat, but 5 who will stay with me until we verify her death."
The 6 of them did not have to wait long, but she was almost lost to the white mist by the time she collapsed, into the flowers, her black form a vibrant contrast the the white surrounding her. It was almost nightfall, as yet, as dark as the woods were, the fields were as bright as they had been hours before. He wondered if even at night they might glow still. Looking past her collapsed form into the endless white, even if he knew that the Blood Woods extended around and beyond this field of white it was hard to believe it wasn't 'endless', as if the white the cloaked your view might carry you into another dimension far away from Yenth and the rot it carried within it.
