I have always been independent.
At least that's what my parents say. They say I'm mature for my age. I guess if you're exposed to social media at twelve, you grow up faster than most people.
Maybe it's maturity.
Or maybe it's just that I don't like asking people for help. If I can do something on my own, then why bother someone else?
To others I probably look calm. Logical. Maybe even a little elegant for someone my age.
But I do have a problem.
A pretty big one.
I have a personality disorder.
Not just two personalities.
Multiple.
The strange thing is, it doesn't really affect me negatively. Because of that, I never bothered telling anyone about it. I simply consider myself the main personality, while the others are more like side personalities.
Or… sidekicks.

"Ai, you know we can hear your thoughts, right?"
That voice belonged to Ruby.
Right. I should probably explain something. Ai is what the others call me—the main personality.
"Stop arguing, you two," another calm voice said.
That was Aqua.
If Ruby is loud and emotional, Aqua is the exact opposite—calm and logical.
"Let's just watch a manhwa from our watch list," Aqua continued.
I tilted my head slightly.
"Right… what was the name again?"
Aqua replied, "449 Years, 9 Simulations: I Found My Path to Immortality. A friend suggested it to us."
Before I could respond, another excited voice jumped in.
"Let's go! I wanna watch it already!" he said impatiently.
That was Kai.
He's the energetic one.
"Come on, Ai. Please? Pretty please?"
I sighed.
"Fine, fine."
Just like that, our internal discussion ended.
I opened my laptop and started watching the manhwa recap.
About an hour later, Ruby spoke again.
"This would've been better with snacks."
Kai immediately agreed.
"Yeah. Snacks would make this perfect."
Then the recap reached the part where the main character got hit by a truck and was isekai'd.
Kai leaned closer to the screen.
"Huh… the MC got isekai'd."
"…How I envy him."
Aqua crossed his arms.
"This recap is too short."
I stretched a little.
"Can't help it. I pray for the author's health… and faster releases of new chapters."
Ruby laughed.
"Anyway, let's go buy some snacks."
That sounded like a good idea.
I closed my laptop and went to put on my shoes.
Just then my mom called out from the living room.
"Where are you going, Ren Kai?"
"To the convenience store," I replied.
"Come back quickly."
"Okay."
I stepped outside and started walking down the street.
Everything felt normal.
Too normal.
And then—
Bright headlights suddenly appeared.
A loud engine roared.
A truck was speeding straight toward me.
Inside my head, chaos instantly erupted.
Aqua clasped his hands together and started praying.
"Please let us reincarnate into a harem genre instead of something like Berserk."
Ruby immediately exploded.
"You idiot! Didn't you watch the road?!"
Kai started screaming.

"No! I still want to be an otaku!"
"WHYYYYYY—"
And then—
Truck-kun struck again.
Everything went dark.
