YOUTHFUL LOVE IS LIKE A FLAMING TORCH. IT BURNS FIERCELY IN THE MOMENT, UNAWARE THAT THE FUEL IS FINITE AND WHEN IT FATES, IT LEAVES THE PERSON STANDING IN DARK.

ALMOST EVERY YOUNG PERSON HAVE LOST THEIR FLAME AT LEAST ONCE, BECAUSE MANY LOVES BEGIN IN THE EARLY BLAZE OF YOUTH.

THE SPARK IS EASY TO IGNITE, BUT LEARNING HOW TO CONTROL IS NOT. WHEN THE FLAME DIES, MANY LOSES THEIR WHOLE TORCH.

WHEN THE FLAME CATCHES, WE LET IT BURN WILD, NEVER REALISING LOVE IS NOT MEANT TO BE A BRIEF INFERNO BUT A SLOW AND STEADY BURNING EMBER.

Hi, this is Samy and this is my story of how a Passionate flaming torch meets a slow burning ember.

As every major love stories the dawn of my story also begins in the campus or so i thought.

*

It's Friday morning, the final stop before the weekend. The alarm was buzzing loud. Anna distrubed by the noise knocked at the door trying to wake Samy up.

The door unlocked, the room empty and the phone still buzzing. Where could Samy have wandered off this early in the morning.

Anna took the phone and turned off the alarm wondering where could he have went without even taking his phone.

Meanwhile Samy running across the street, puffs of white breath escaping his mouth with every step.

Holding a bottle of water he slowly raised it up to have a sip of reshre- wait he threw the bottle.

Take it, shoo shoo, he shouted desperately.

A dog was chasing him.

The dog barely slowed down. It continued to chase samy through the street. Samy getting tired of it regretted kicking the stone earlier which hit the dog and how he got into this mess.

Samy upon realising that the dog will keep on chasing him knew he had to climb something to avoid getting a shot of tetanus.

A few meters away he saw that there is a guava tree, without wasting a single thought he quickly climbed up the tree to escape from the dog.

The dog barked outside for a while and then disappeared. Finally Samy took a sight of relief that the dog was gone, he then saw a ripe guave so without thinking much he plucked it out and took a bite off it while thinking to himself what a horrible day it was for him not realising it was gonna get worse.

The owner of the guava tree an uncle spotted him and started calling him a guava thief, he told him to step down from the tree and seemed very unpleased.

Samy flustered said I'm not here to steal your fruits, but then he realised he actually plucked one and also took a bite.

The uncle slandered him saying not only did you stole but lies about it, look at what you're holding in your hand, come down here right now.

Samy knowing well that he is in a great trouble wanted to run away but his lace got stuck in the branch and now he couldn't even escape.

Samy got his lace unstuck so he could escape but the dog returned with more reinforcement.

Samy now couldn't climb down to where the dogs are knowing the dogs will chew his bones off, having no choice he had to climb down to the owner side, atleast this way he'll still have a bone.

The uncle told him "Come down right now or else I'll report you to the police for trespassing and theft under Sections 447 and 379!"

Samy thinking to himself "all for this one guava"..?

He knew that the uncle is definitely not a normal person if he knows the law, the uncle is definitely civil servant.

Samy looked at the half-bitten guava in his hand, ready to blame it for all his problems.

All this… for one guava?

He glared at the fruit as if it had personally betrayed him. Then he noticed something inside it. It moved—

A worm.

"What the—"

Samy panicked. In his sudden attempt to shake the guava away, he lost his balance.

The branch beneath him cracked.

CRACK.

"Wait—wait—!"

The branch snapped completely.

Samy fell straight out of the tree and landed with a loud thud in the uncle's yard.

For a moment, everything was silent. The dogs went mute, the trees rusting stopped and the sound of the fall echoes.

The fall was not that high and Samy managed to avoid getting injured or seriously hurt, he slowly opened one eye. The uncle stood there, staring down at him with folded arms.

The dogs at the other side of the fence now started barking more victoriously. Samy got up and sat straight as he groaned and rubbed the back of his head.

Then suddenly one guava fell straight onto his head. And just like that, the Newton effect took place.

All the cells in Samy's brain started working.

His nerves connected.

His mind filled with visions and possibilities.

The past, the future, and the entire universe seemed to align as he calculated every possible way to escape the situation.

After processing the infinite wisdom of the cosmos, Samy arrived at a single conclusion.

He looked at the uncle and declared,

"This guava started it all."

The uncle stared straight into his eyes, completely unimpressed.

"So after all that thinking," he said slowly, "you decided to blame a fruit?"

The uncle grabbed him by the collar.

"Tell me—should I hand you over to the police, or—"

"Ah— I'm so sorry, sir!" Samy blurted out.

"I didn't mean to steal anything! I was just jogging this morning to prepare for college. While running, I accidentally kicked a stone that hit a dog. The dog started chasing me, and to escape I climbed the tree without thinking about the consequences. Then I saw the fruit right in front of me, so I took a bite… not knowing it would lead to all this!"

Samy explained everything in one breath.

After finishing his explanation, Samy suddenly realized something.

He had not taken a single breath the entire time.

His vision began to spin.

The uncle's face blurred.

The barking dogs echoed like distant thunder.

"Oh…" Samy muttered weakly.

Then he fainted on the spot.

It's 7Am in the morning, samy still haven't regained his consciousness. He didn't had a great start to the day. And now, he is unconscious in a stranger's house—a stranger he had also somehow managed to offend.

Was his downfall going to continue… or was something else waiting for him?

Samy, still unconscious, faintly heard a voice.

It sounded like someone explaining something…

A girl?

Slowly, he began to regain consciousness.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself lying inside the house.

For a moment, everything felt peaceful.

Then it all came back.

The dog.

The tree.

The guava.

The fall.

Samy shot up immediately.

Right on cue, the uncle walked into the room.

"I'm really sorry, sir!" Samy said quickly, his voice filled with embarrassment.

The uncle looked at him, still stern, but this time there was a hint of sympathy in his expression.

"Are you injured?" he asked.

Samy shook his head. "No, sir… I think I'm fine."

The uncle nodded.

"My daughter told me she saw everything from her room," he said. "It seems the dog was indeed chasing you."

Samy felt a small wave of relief.

Finally… someone believes me.

"However," the uncle continued,

"you still broke a branch of our family tree."

The relief vanished instantly.

"So there must be some form of compensation."

Samy froze.

He didn't know whether to feel happy that he was understood…

or terrified about what came next.

"Okay…" Samy said automatically.

A second later, his brain caught up.

Wait… why did I say okay?

What if he asks for money?

I can't ask my parents… I don't have that kind of cash… I'm finished.

The uncle looked at him carefully.

"You said you're preparing for college?"

"Yes, sir," Samy replied. "I'm in second year economic student…in Apex College."

The uncle nodded slowly.

"Good."

He paused.

"My daughter studies there as well, or more like will study there, she just transferred college recently."

Samy blinked.

"We're new to this town," the uncle continued.

"So as compensation for breaking the tree…"

Samy held his breath.

"You will tutor my daughter, and guide her around so she fits in just perfectly."

"…What?"

"And help her adjust to the new environment."

Samy stared at him.

"So… you're basically hiring me as your daughter's tutor… and bodyguard?"

Exactly but "Without pay," the uncle replied immediately.

Samy's shoulders dropped.

"And," the uncle added,

"if she is not satisfied…"

He leaned slightly closer to him and said.

"You still trespassed on private property so…Under Sections 447 and 379," the uncle stated calmly.

Samy nodded slowly in fear.

"…I suddenly feel very motivated to teach."

That very moment—

"Who is he, dear?"

A woman's voice came from the doorway.

Samy turned his head.

The uncle's wife had entered the room, knitting an unfinished scarf.

The uncle glanced at her."This found this boy just this morning he is from the same college. He'll be in the same class as her," he said calmly.

"So I've basically found a guide for our daughter."

The woman's expression softened instantly.

"Oh, that's wonderful," she said with a gentle smile.

"I was worried she might have trouble fitting in."

Samy blinked.

Wait… I just got promoted from guava thief to official guide?

The woman stepped closer.

"My name is Marie," she said warmly.

"And this is my husband, Joe… though I'm sure he didn't bother introducing himself."

Samy glanced at the uncle—Joe—who looked exactly like a man who indeed did not bother introducing himself.

Samy gave an awkward smile.

"I'm Samy."

"Nice to meet you, Samy," Marie said kindly.

For the first time since morning, Samy felt a little at ease.
