This will be the last time we speak to each other.
I am sorry that I have never dedicated a message to you before—I only learned recently that it is proper etiquette to perform such a ritual for the dead.
For the last nine years, since I left your sanctum at the age of four, I have lived with my loving mom, dad, and brother. We share very similar features, my brother especially, but our blood is not the same. A few months ago, our family was separated. Now, I only have my brother left, though he has grown distant from me as well. I miss them deeply: dad's cooking, mom's kisses, and my brother's brimming smile.
But my time away hasn't been entirely dark. Since entering the academy, I've met a lot of new people—everyone is so nice here—including your old friend. He helped me control my power, but at the cost of his own life. I hope it brings peace to your conscience to know that he died smiling. For him to choose your dream over his own life after all these years, you must have been a good person.
I saw Senior today. He looked really angry, and I wasn't able to beat him.
Because of that, I won't be reaching where you are. I hope that Death will be quelled with this. May none other carry this burden.
