Synopsis
Imagine being reincarnated into an anime but not in the OG animes like Dragon Ball, Naruto, or One Piece, but into My Hero Academia, that was Reagan Desmond's current situation. "But at least I get to attend UA in class 1-A," he thought, but nope, he got incarnated into the body of a hero, not All Might, not Endeavor, not Hawks, but into the body of the normal hero: Manuel. So disappointing. A hero so useless to the story plot that he didn't even get a heroic death; all he got was to be Eraserhead's water boy. But not this time, just wait, Desmond is determined to climb and is going to be the No.1 Hero. And at least he got a 5-year head start.

Chapter 1 - Waking up as MANUAL

I began to gain consciousness as my eyes slowly opened, the blur in my vision gradually clearing. The edges of the room came into focus in jagged fragments, like a puzzle I was struggling to piece together.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The sharp, insistent noise pierced the fog in my mind. I blinked repeatedly, trying to make sense of it. My body felt heavy, every movement sluggish, but slowly, awareness returned. I realized I was lying on a bed, wrapped tightly in white bandages. The room was pristine—walls, floor, sheets all glaringly white, and the harsh smell of antiseptics, so sterile it almost hurt my eyes.

Beside me, a machine whirred quietly, its monitor flashing a green line that jumped and beeped in rhythm with the alarms. I tried to sit up, but my muscles protested, stiff and weak. My voice emerged in a hoarse whisper.

"Where am I?"

The door opened with a smooth, almost casual motion, and my gaze landed on something that made my heart nearly stop.

A creature, no, a monster walked into the room. It had the head of a duck, white, pale and expressionless, but the rest of its body was human. My pupils widened, my chest tightening as terror clawed its way up my throat.

"ARGHHHH!!!" I screamed, flinging myself to the other side of the bed. "A monster!!"

Desperate, I scrambled toward the window. "Someone help me, please!!" I yelled, panic cracking my voice.

"You need to calm down, Mr. Mizushima," the creature said, tossing the clipboard it held toward a nearby table. Then it advanced slowly toward me.

"GET AWAY FROM ME, MONSTER!!" I shouted, yanking at the window in a futile attempt to escape.

"Mr. Mizushima, don't jump—we're on the third floor," it said, raising both arms in mock surrender.

Before I could react further, another voice entered the chaos—a commanding, clear voice that cut through the panic.

"Doctor Hurano, what's going on, sir?"

A woman with striking red hair stepped into the room. Her eyes widened at the sight of me struggling, and she gasped, "Oh no!"

Then, in the blink of an eye, her hair—long, crimson, impossibly fast—whipped forward. Before I could even move, it extended like living rope, coiling around me and binding me tightly. I struggled, but it was no use.

"NOO!!" My voice trembled as I was lifted back to the bed I had just tried to flee from.

"GET AWAY!" My hands clawed at the bed. Nothing. My legs refused to move. Panic boiled over. This was real. Too real.

"Thank you, Miss Hibino," the duck-headed figure said with a sigh of relief.

"Not a problem, Doctor," the woman replied, retracting her hair as if nothing had happened.

"PLEASE—don't hurt me! Let me go!!" My fear boiled over, my voice breaking as my heart pounded in my ears.

"Mr. Mizushima, calm down," the doctor said firmly, his tone now commanding, professional. "We are here to help, not hurt you."

The words clawed at the edges of my panic. Slowly, I forced myself to take a shaky breath, attempting to calm the storm inside me.

"Right now, you're in a hospital," the doctor continued, taking measured steps toward me. "And I'm the doctor in charge of your care."

I scanned the room, him, the nurse, the machines, and only then did I notice the pristine white coat draped over his shoulders.

"You're really a doctor?" My voice was barely audible, trembling like fragile glass.

"Yes," he said, placing a palm on his chest. "I am Dr. Hurano Takana. This is Miss Hibino Rukia, she's a nurse." He gestured toward her.

"Nurse Hibino, you can put him down," the doctor instructed, eyes meeting mine with calm professionalism.

"But doctor, he might try to run again!" Miss Rukia protested, worry clear in her voice.

"I don't think so," Dr. Hurano said firmly. "Besides, trust is essential when dealing with patients."

Rukia hesitated, then slowly unraveled her hair, freeing me from the coils.

I sank back onto the bed, still trembling. My heart raced, my hands shook, but I forced myself to observe, to understand. Questions tumbled through my mind:

What happened to me? Why am I in a hospital? And why is a duck-headed person running it?

"Doctor, I don't remember anything. Why am I in the hospital?" I asked, staring at my bandaged arms. Confusion and fear gnawed at me.

Dr. Hurano glanced at a clipboard Rukia handed him and exhaled slowly.

"Hmmm. It seems the explosion caused more physical injury than we initially thought."

Explosion? Physical injury? My memory felt like fractured glass shards floating just out of reach.

"According to your records," he continued, "you were hurt while rescuing citizens from a tanker explosion. Fortunately, Best Jeanist arrived just in time to save the citizens, the other heroes, and you."

My mouth fell open. Silence pressed down on me like a weight. What was he saying? Best Jeanist? Heroes? Rescue? A hair-elongating nurse? A duck-faced doctor? None of it made sense.

I blinked rapidly, trying to piece it together.

"What… which hospital is this?" I asked, turning swiftly to the doctor.

"Hospital?" he asked, tilting his head in confusion.

"Yes! Which hospital is this?" I insisted.

"Hosu General Hospital," he replied, his expression showing faint surprise. I ignored it. That name… it sounded familiar. I was sure I'd heard it before, but from where?

"Oh no," I muttered, voice trembling as cold sweat ran down my face. Both Dr. Hurano and Miss Rukia looked at me with concern.

Before I could think further, panic surged again. I dashed toward the window.

"No, Mr. Mizushima!!" the doctor called out, but I didn't try to escape, I stopped directly in front of the window, catching a glimpse of my reflection in the glass.

The sight stopped me cold.

The face staring back was not mine or, rather, not the face I had expected. No long hair, no dark circles, no familiar features from my previous life. This face was different, energized, vibrant, brimming with an intensity I recognized instantly. A face only a complete Otaku like me could know.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, realization struck. Somehow… I wasn't sitting on my couch. I wasn't staring at my anime figurines.

Somehow… I had been transported into an anime.

Not just any anime. One filled with heroes, villains, chaos, and quirks.

"MY HERO ACADEMIA," I whispered, the words tumbling out before I could stop them.

I couldn't think straight. My heart pounded, adrenaline still coursing, mind still spinning. Somehow… I was in the body of the Normal Hero: MANUAL.

I sank to my knees, hands pressing against the cold, sterile tiles of the hospital floor. Disappointment and despair washed over me, dimming my eyes as I stared down at the white floor.

All my excitement, all my dreams about reincarnation, all the fantasies of being a hero crushed in a heartbeat.

I let out a bitter laugh, trembling with a mix of fear and frustration. My hands dug into the floor as if trying to ground myself, to keep from being swallowed by the absurdity of it all.

And yet… one thought echoed through the haze of shock and disillusionment:

"I got reincarnated into MHA but… why not ALL MIGHT?"
