Chapter 30 - Partial Truths

A while later, Aria slowly blinked her eyes awake. She observed her surroundings and saw she was in a makeshift medical room. Her system sent her a notification right after waking up.

[ Energy levels have been restored enough to regain consciousness, more rest is required to fully restore stamina. Please increase Endurance stat to avoid this outcome in the future. ]

[ External healing ability has been used on host, so health is full. ]

[ HP: 300/300 ]

So that's what knocked me out, my lack of endurance. Aria remembered she was fighting those Ents and then was about to fight the Yggdravine, but passed out before she could.

What happened to Eric? He was there and I think he destroyed the core from the Yggdravine just before I blacked out. Where is he and what did he see of my abilities?

Eric was nowhere to be seen, but Maya entered the room shortly after Aria woke up. "You're awake, feeling better?" Maya asked Aria with a slightly concerned look.

"Yeah I am just about recovered, but what happened to Eric? He was there when I fell unconscious."

"Yes, he was with you when the portal closed and everyone was transported outside. He dissappeared shortly after but did say something about wanting to investigate what happened."

Aria wanted to speak to him but that can wait for a moment. "So what did happen, how did the portal close?"

"The portal was actually a B-rank with multiple crystals inside. The measurement device was tampered with, making everyone think it was a D-rank instead. After finding myself seperated from you two, I found two portal crystals and destroyed them. Then the portal closed." Maya's explanation was thorough and confirmed what Aria had been thinking.

"So that explains why the portal didn't close when I shattered the crystal underground." Aria muttered Thinking out loud.

"Wait underground? How did you end up there?"

Aria explained how she fell down a hole after getting separated from from the group, and encountered a large tree monster holding a crystal.

"I destroyed the crystal from a distance, but the Tree Ents guarded the monster and were protecting it. Eric defeated the Yggdravine though."

Maya was a little surprised, not at Aria's story though. The Yggdravine is an extremely rare monster and there is hardly any information available on it. There is only one book in the library with that information, and it's in the restricted section. How did she know what it was?

Maya decided to look into that later and told Aria that everyone was going to load up onto the buses soon to go back to the Academy. Shortly after, Maya left the room with an instructor after she was asked to answer some questions about the portal.

Aria was left to recover a little more, as another figure emerged. Deep within her thoughts, she didn't notice the shrouded figure come out of the bed's shadow.

"Thinking about me that intently?" Eric said jokingly as he seemingly popped out of nowhere.

Aria jolted with surprise, "Jeez, how do you do that every time?!"

"It's a gift, anyway I believe we need to chat." Eric proceeded to sit down on a chair at the end of the bed. "What is your real rank and bloodline? Your bloodline is likely a Celestial type like you said, but your file says Lower Angel. There is no way a Lower Angel bloodline could defeat a D-rank boss Tree Ent in one move. So ready to confess?"

Aria's eyes went wide, he saw everything but what should I tell him?I won't reveal the Celestial Engine but I'll be a bit honest.

"You're right, my bloodline isn't a Lower Angel Celestial Bloodline. I have an ability that allows me to learn information and I know that my bloodline is of a named High Celestial bloodline."

"I see, that makes more sense. You knew my full name which shouldn't have been possible. How did you get an F-rank?" Eric asked wanting to get more answers

"I didn't manipulate the results if that is what you are thinking. Something to do with my ability accidentally messed up the test and F-rank was the outcome." Aria huffed with annoyance.

"Interesting," he said while studying her.

"Now it's your turn to confess, what are you hiding?" Aria asked Eric with curiosity, she had her own questions that needed answering.

"Well you have been somewhat honest so I shall do the same. I am hiding my rank as well. My bloodline is a Primordial God, and the rest you can figure out on your own." He smirked.

Aria pouted a little but didn't push further, he told her more than she expected.

Eric continued, "I have a powerful family that could help you change your rank, would you be interested?"

Aria considered his offer for a moment before deciding. "I appreciate the offer but I will decline, at least for now. People underestimate me a lot which makes for perfect suprise attacks."

Eric laughed at her answer, he found her reasoning to be ridiculous but amusing all the same. "Very well, my offer will still stand in the future should you change your mind. As for what happened today, I believe it was an attack on me. A terrorist organization seems to have had a hand in today's events."

"A terrorist organization?!" Aria asked with shock evident on her face.

"Yeah but don't worry about them, my family is on it already." Eric said nonchalantly.

Aria was perplexed by the news, the only terrorist organization she had heard of was the Clandara. A radicalist group that wants to get rid of the elitist high rank awakened, and forcefully awaken every human through a forbidden process. The process was banned since it had an extremely low success rate and killed most people who went through the procedure. Aria got chills thinking about them and only hoped that they get taken down soon.

Soon an instructor came to get the two for loading up on the bus, it was time to go back to Miraden Academy.
