Once she defeated the Chamelin, Aria was more cautious and keeping an eye of the surroundings. I got lucky with that last one, but my scan skill might not detect the next Chamelin. She walked to the corpse of the Chamelin she had just defeated and retrieved her dagger from it. Swiping the dagger through the air, the blue blood that clung to the dark metal splattered onto the ground. Ugh gross.
While Aria was in an open forest, there was what looked like a path indented into the vegitation. "That could either be a path used by random monsters, or the path to the boss monster. I may as well just stick to it since I don't want to get lost."
Some portals such as this one, were open and could be much larger than you think. In the past, many awakened have dissappeared and never returned. Likely they met their demise at the hand of monsters. Aria's goal was to only find the portal crystal and destroy it within a timely matter. Can't have agents show up and spoil my fun now.
Branches crunched under her feet, as she trudged through the forrest. I bet every monster knows I am here by now with how much noise I am making, so where are they?
Monsters are extremely territorial and will attack anything that stepped into their realm. Aria should have encountered something else by now.
Walking a little further she heard rustling come from a short distance away and a pink tongue whipped at Aria's back.
[ HP: 288/300 -> 274/300 ]
The sting came from her back as another Chamelin's tongue created a decent size scratch on Arias upper shoulders. Turning around she didn't see where the creature was. How can I find it? I could scan every tree in the area but that leaves me vulnerable to another attack.
Without much option, Aria went with a distraction skill. Activating her Luminous Blast Skill, the orb formed in her palm. She didn't know what direction to throw it in so she shut her eyes and slammed the ball to the ground below her.
Waiting for a second, she could hear the creature screech and fall to the ground. She opened her eyes and located the Chamelin at the bottom of a tree nearby. Its eyes were closed as it writhed on the ground it pain.
Aria ran to it and with a swift motion she slashed the head off of the Chamelins body. Blue blood stained her shoes and clothing. Looks like another set of clothes going into the trash.
[ D-rank monster Chamelin defeated: 70 Exp earned. ]
Rejuvenated by her Exp earnings, Aria kept walking through the woods.
Within another 5 minutes of walking, she heard what sounded like a wolf howling in the distance. Uh oh. That can't be good.
Wolf type monsters traveled in packs and were stonger together. While there were many types of wolf based monsters, Aria didn't know which specific one she heard just now. On average though, they were tricky to defeat.
Another howl was heard closer than the previous one, Aria got her daggers ready in front of her. Within a minute, six wolf like shapes jumped out of some large brush nearby. They quckly maneuvered and cornered Aria against a thick tree trunk. The wolf like creatures were now in view and Aria could see what they were. Everwolves.
Aria scanned one of them to get more information since they were currently locked into a stalemate. Neither party moved, but were ready to act right away if needed.

- D-rank Monster, Everwolf
- Large wolf like creatures that are related to Direwolves. This specific type is particularly vicious and built for battle, their intelligence is also quite high as they trap their prey. Their fur is variously shades of green and their eyes are a rich brown, which allows them to hide in their environment within the foliage.
-Weakness: Target the leader of the group which gives out the commands to the other wolves. With the strategic head gone, the rest will be scattered and easier to pick off individually.
The wolves in front of Aria were almost the size of a bear, but certainly were intimidating regardless. She looked at the six wolves to see if she could identify the leader of the group. She found one that was slightly larger than the rest, so that was her best guess.
Aria summoned her Star Piercer in her right hand with her daggers in her left. The wolves could sense the intense energy from the spear and backed away slightly. They weren't going to give up that easily though.
Aria knew if she just threw the star piercer, the wolf was agile enough to avoid. She needed something to distract them. With both her hands full, Aria activated her Seismic Pulse Skill by stomping on the ground.
A crack formed beneath Aria's feet and stretched towards the wolves in a web like pattern. It did the trick, as the wolves reacted and jumped away from the affected area. They did take their eyes off Aria, which was just what she needed. She threw the Star Piercer at the largest wolf of the group, its body now had a gaping bloody hole through it.

Thinking she got the leader, Aria expected the rest to possibly run or react somehow. However nothing happened, the five remaining wolves quickly recovered and surrounded Aria once again against the tree trunk. Was that not the leader then?
Looking at the group of wolves differently this time, Aria looked for one wolf that was acting odd compared to the rest. One wolf caught her eye. The wolf staying the furthest away from Aria was smaller, but the way it was positioned made Aria suspect it was the one she wanted.
Her previous tactic wouldn't work twice, they already were staying a distance away from Aria and out of reach of her Seismic Pulse Skill. They learn fast too, what else could I use?
