Chapter 18 - Making a Friend

This was the first time Maya had heard this request before, "Titan bloodline?" Now that she thought about it, there have only been giant related bloodlines in the past but never a Titan. "I know where I can find the Titan Mythology books, but I don't think there has ever been a record of someone with a Titan Bloodline before. If anyone had it, they would be an S-rank awakened for sure. Here let me take you to the section."

Maya was hard to read, her face didn't express much emotion. She had delicate features with sage coloured eyes and her lime green hair was styled into an inverted bob. Aria thought she must be quite popular considering both her rank and looks.

Maya started walking to the upper floor as Aria followed behind. They arrived at a shelf full of old but well kept books. "I think here is where you will find Titan Mythology Literature," Maya said pointing to the shelf in front of them. "Thank you for showing me," Aria thanked her. The more Aria interacted with Maya, the more she wanted to be friends with her.

Remembering her mistake with Eric, Aria asked for her name. "May I ask what your name is?" Maya studied Aria for a moment before answering "My name is Maya, Maya Levus."

Aria looked at one of the books on the shelf in front of her. "So Maya, are you a second year as well?"

"Yes I am," Maya responded.

She hasn't left yet, maybe we can talk a bit more. "Do you have a group already for the upcoming portal excursion?" Aria asked expectantly.

"No I don't, usually I wait for them to group together the students who don't have groups yet. I hate socializing, so this way I don't have to worry." Maya was an interesting character, maybe a bit odd but Aria didn't mind.

"How about we group up together," Aria took the plunge. Her heart thumped against her chest, what if she says no? "I know I'm an F-rank but I am much stronger than I look."

Maya took a second to think, "Sure, and yeah I have heard rumors of the ruffian F-rank who can even take down a C-rank." Maya smiled slightly.

"Wait that just happened, how did you hear the rumor already?" Aria practically came to the library right after her fight earlier.

"My ability has a side perk, I can hear extremely well. I pick up whispers from the wind so to speak. It's also why I hate crowded places."

"That's so cool!" Aria's eyes were sparkling with interest. "Want to be my friend Maya?" After realizing what she said, Aria clasped her hand over her mouth. "Oops, sorry if that was too aggressive."

Maya was surprised at the abrupt request, she looked towards the floor. "Well, sure." She answered with a hint of red on her cheek.

She said yes! Aria had found her first friend at the academy. "Can we exchange contact details? I'll also go let my homeroom teacher know we are grouping together. Once the two exchanged details, Aria checked out a couple books from the library to read later on. As she headed out the door, she waved goodbye to Maya.

Maya waved back, there is something about her that's different.

.....

Back in her dorm, Aria was reading a book on Titans that she got from the library earlier. Most Titan myths came from Greek Mythology, from the 12 original titans. Essentially they were deities in their own right. As Aria read more about them, the more confusing it became. Various sources say contrasting things, so what is the truth?

Getting a headache from thinking so much, she put the book down. *Ding*

Aria wondered what this new notification could be.

[ User's has learned knowledge about their Titan heritage - Reward: 100 Exp, and 2 additional stat points. ]

[ Exp: 180/600 -> 280/600 ]

So the Titans from Greek Mythology do have ties to my Titan bloodline, Aria wondered what information the system had stored. She had gotten so used to the Celestial Engine, that she didn't think to question it anymore. Where did it come from, it flew down from the sky so maybe aliens? Aria giggled, "there is no way aliens exist."

Getting up, Aria started her daily quest workout so she didn't lose her progress.

....

The next day after classes, Aria was leaving campus for a few hours. Her brother Ben was staying at a nearby hotel while he looked for an apartment. Today she was going to visit him for the first time since she began attending Miraden Academy. She hated to admit it but she was feeling homesick, and her home was Ben.

Existing the front gate, she found the directions to the hotel. She strolled along the sidewalk taking note of the storefronts and people around her. Arriving at the hotel, she called her brother.

"Hey Ben, I'm here at the Hotel." She cheerfully told him.

"Alright, I'll come down. See you soon."

Coming out of the elevator, Aria ran up and hugged her brother.

"Easy there, I missed you too. Seriously though when did you get so strong." Ben was wheezing from the tight grip Aria had him in.

"Oh sorry, I just missed you," she said feeling a little embarrassed.

"Well shall we go out for supper somewhere?"

The two looked up places to eat before deciding on a nice Chinese restaurant nearby.

While eating they shared stories from both work and school. "Guess what?" Aria asked him. "What?" He said indulging her.

"I finally made a friend at school." Aria smiled brightly as she told her brother about Maya, the interesting girl from the library. "Oh and she's a B-rank awakened, isn't that impressive?"

Ben became worried hearing about Maya's rank. "She isn't taking advantage of you, is she?"

"She isn't that type of person, believe me. We are going to be partners for the upcoming field trip." Aria eased his worries a bit.

"Alright glad to hear it."
