"Ah Jesus Elijah, get up.You're going to be late for your first day!"

Elijah stayed huddled in his bed, ignoring the yelling of his mum, Adeline.

"Hahh… what am I going to do with you? It's your first day at a new school."

Adeline had enough of Elijah's crap, she went to the window and opened the curtains, then pulled up the blinds, letting Elijah's room fill with sunshine.

"I'm up..I'm up." Elijah got up from his bed, and was rubbing his eyes.

His mom, hovering over him, slightly smacked his cheeck, not in a way it would hurt but in a wake up call sort of way.

Shortly after, Elijah's mum had left him in room.

***

He was in the bathroom, doing his elaborate skincare routine when he had heard his sister, Esther shouting.

Elijah decided to ignore it because to him, his sister was a so called 'drama queen'.

Well, until he heard his name being yelled through the house.

"OH MY DAYS! I'm getting ready!" Elijah yelled back to whoever could hear it.

He was a bit tired from his family's shenanigans but right now he had to get his clothes.

When Elijah went in his room, he went straight to his wardrobe and pulled the outfit he picked out the other day and set it on his bed.

He stretched out his arms and legs. God was he exhausted, his insomnia was worsening, and he had to ask his mom to book an appointment soon.

He quickly put on his clothes and headed downstairs, he saw his sister holding her head in frustration.

"Esther..? What's wrong?"

Esther snapped her head towards Elijah, it looked like she was about to cry any moment now.

"It was auntie Rebecca..She's coming over today.."

Elijah's eyes widened in realisation.

Esther and their aunt had a horrible relationship, she would always bring up how Esther was rebellious — although she wasn't, and how her daughter, Tara, was a saint.

In an attempt to cheer his sister up, Elijah replied,

"Y'know, we could go somewhere while she comes over. I heard there's a really nice ramen restaurant a good few minutes away, like around a half 'n hour away from here, if we walk fast."

A small grin appeared on Esther's face, it was the only answer Elijah needed.

"C'mon sweethearts, eat your breakfast!"

Elijah pulled Esther off of the couch and led her to the kitchen where their mom was cooking pancakes.

"I'm so sorry sweetie, I really did try to make her change her mind.."

"No mom, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you for something that wasn't your fault.."

"Don't worry baby, I should've lied to her about being busy so she wouldn't have to come."

Elijah was already sick of them not making up, sure he didn't know what happened but he wasn't going to let his mom and sister break their relationship because of some fuckass auntie.

"Oh my fucking god just make up already. I physically can't do this."

When Esther and his mom laughed at his statement, something warmed in his heart, and he joined in too.

"What's with all the laughing? What'd we miss?"

It was their father, Cassian, and their little brother, Alex.

"Don't worry dad! It wasn't anything!"

"Okay, well you guys should get going, you're going to be late."

A hint of realisation appeared on Elijah's face, his eyes widened as he ate his breakfast.

"SHIT! I have to put on my shoes!!" Elijah yelled and ran out, stumbling on the way to where the shoes were.

"He really is your son, isn't he, dear?"

Cassian watched Elijah rush out, and smiled. "Yeah, he really is."

***

Well, Elijah and Esther were at the entrance of the school, and Elijah did not want to go inside. Who knows what type of stuff he'd see? Couples kissing eachother in the hallways, kids running around, shit like that.

Letting out a deep sigh, Elijah made his way up to the door with his sister and was greeted with people screaming and yelling.

He winced and quickly put on his headphones, trying to drown out the sound of people.

"Eli, we need to get to the reception. Remember? Our schedules?"

Elijah nodded. Thankfully the reception was right at the entrance so it wasn't a hassle to find it.

"Excuse me?"

The receptionist was a tired woman, her eyebags were a bit prominent, not as bad as Elijah's when he was 13 though, atleast that's what he thought to himself.

"Yes, is something wrong?"

"Yeah, we just need our schedules."

The receptionist pulled out a thick binder, "Names?"

"I'm Esther Smith."

"I'm Elijah Smith."

"Ah, yes, the twins. Right here you are."

She handed the two their schedules and homework journas then pulled her chair away from the window.

'Okay…well that's that then.'

"Your locker number and codes are in the front of your journal."

Esther responded, "Okay, thank you!"

The two left the office and were looking for their lockers. Esther found hers with no problem, but Elijah? A group of people were blocking his locker.

"Er..Excuse me? I need to get to my locker.."

There were 4 people, two were taller than him, and the other two were the same height as him give or take.

If he was to get into a fight, he'd be instantly overpowered and ganged up on.

"Oh, sorry, my bad." They instantly made way for Elijah to get to his locker.

Huh? No snark comments? No 'Get the hell out of my face' shit?

One of them spoke up, he was taller than Elijah, he had black hair, and a sort of menacing face.

"Hey you look kinda familiar."

"Oh.? Well- must be one of those faces y'know!"

"No, like I've literally seen you before."

The boy's eyes landed on Elijah's wrist, it just so happened that Elijah was wearing the lucky charm bracelet one of his friends had given him before he moved away.

Daniel snatched Elijah's wrist subconsciously, trying to get a clearer view of the bracelet.

"What the fuck man?!"

Elijah pulled his arm back and smacked Daniel's face.

"..Elijah?"

"…What?"

Elijah spoke up, "Why the fuck do you know my name? I've never met you before!"

The three people who the guy was talking to earlier looked as if they were watching a top tier drama series.

"Do you not recognise me?"

Elijah slightly squinted his eyes, when he looked harder he sort of did look a bit familiar.. Oh.

"Holy shit.. Daniel is that you?"

Daniel nodded, "I knew you looked familiar somewhere."

"Daniel, care to introduce us?"

It was the other tall boy, he had brown hair, and his jawline was a bit sharp. His skin was slightly tanned, as if he had only went out to the beach once or twice in the summer holidays. He had this look on his face, Elijah couldn't exactly tell what he was thinking but he assumed it was confusion, his body language sort of gave it away to him.

"Oh, sorry, Samuel, this is Elijah. Elijah these are my friends, Samuel, James, and Mary."

"Nice to meet you I guess..?"

Mary moved away from the others and appeared in front of Elijah.

She was around the same height as him, she had short black hair, and her eyes were slightly narrow and upturned.

"Hello!! I'm Mary Bonner! Daniel has told us about you a few times, it's really nice to meet you!"

Elijah had finally opened his locker when Esther had made her way to his side.

"You've already got friends?"

Elijah slightly flinched, but replied, "Yeah I guess, go introduce yourself or something I dont fucking know."

Esther rolled her eyes, "Hi I'm Esther, Elijah's twin sister. Also is that you Daniel? Sorry if I'm wrong you just look really familiar."

Daniel let out a loud laugh, slightly annoying Elijah.

"Wow Esther, you haven't changed a bit."

"Mary are you okay?" It came from James. James was just as tall as Mary but a slight bit taller, he had blonde hair and narrow fox-like eyes.

"Esther, do you like girls?"

Esther was slightly taken back from the sudden question, "Yeah, I'm lesbian!"

"That means I have a chance?!"

Mary was literally on the floor, she looked like she was praying or thanking someone.

"Oh wow. Um..How does one respond to that..?"

Elijah closed his locker and shrugged. He had no idea either.

Daniel cleared his throat, pulled Mary off of the floor and spoke, "Anyway, what classes do you guys have next?"

Elijah looked at his schedule, "I have Maths with Mr. Jones."

"Shit, me too!"

Samuel looked up for a second, "I think I also have Maths with Mr. Jones, but I don't know."

"Kay bro," Daniels voice quickly softened as he turned to explain to Elijah,

"Okay so basically, between every two periods we have a break as you can see in your schedules," Daniel spoke as he pointed towards the time table.

"So during that time we should have you meet with the rest of the gang!"

"Oh, um okay." Elijah pursed his lips, he wasn't sure how Daniel's friends would react to his interests and shit like that, he knew his friends from his old school would make fun of him for it, so he was worried. He didn't know what they would do.

Maybe he was overreacting though? Maybe Daniel would stop them? No, thats a horrible idea, he has just met the man after what? 6 years? Well doesn't matter, they've both probably changed alot of over time.

Whatever. He had to get to his class, who knows how the teacher is like.

***

Get me the fuck out of here.

Well, is what Elijah kept thinking on the way to his class. Daniel wouldn't stop talking about a new anime he's watching, Gakiakoo or something. Honestly it sounded a bit cool to Elijah, and he was glad they both had a similar interest —he'd have to watch the show when he was free.

"I fucking remember now!" Samuel shouted. A few people turned their heads towards them and Elijah could feel their stares shooting daggers at his back.

"You're Elijah Smith! I saw a few clips of you playing on the court!"

Daniel perked up, "You still play volleyball..?"

He tried to act a bit unknowing, fact was that Daniel watched all of Elijah's tournaments , either in person or from his TV at home.

Elijah's gaze turned away from the floor and to Daniel, "Yeah, my club competed in a few tournaments.. but I'm not that good."

Daniel wanted to slap Elijah there and then, it seemed his confidence hadn't gone up at all since they were ten.

Samuel butted in the two's tension, "You're not good?! My cousin was scared of spiking because of you!"

Elijah slightly blushed, he felt embarrassed to hear someone say anything like that, but he couldn't help but feel a bit giddy, he loved being praised by others, it made him feel warm.

Elijah opened the door handle and entered the room, not much people were there, and there was around 9 tables, each had three seats. He guessed that Daniel and Samuel would probably sit somewhere else and hang out with their other friends, and he would sit in the back like usual.

Daniel grabbed Elijah's arm a bit too harshly, and pulled him towards an empty table in the back. Samuel causually followed.

'Huh? '

Daniel forced Elijah onto the seat near the window and sat beside him, in the middle, and Samuel sat on the other side of Daniel.

Samuel took out his books and a pen from his pencilcase.

Elijah also took his books and pencilcase out, he didn't take a pen out just yet and placed a thirty centimetre ruler next to his perfectly aligned books, leaving half a centimetre gap between the two items.

Daniel didn't care and leaned back on his chair.

The room started to quickly fill up, and eventually the bell rang, signalling the start of class.

"The teacher ain't here yet!" A boy shouted to his friends. They shouted back.

Elijah, who thought it would be fine to take his headphones off, slightly winced at the sound, he switched his headphones out with some wireless earbuds he had in his pocket and stored his headphones in his bag.

"Tsk. Fucking hate that guy and his fuckass friends."

Samuel looked up from his phone from under the table.

"Oh. Jasper, David, and Lucas. Yeah I fucking hate them too."

Elijah decided to look towards the commotion, "Yeah, I can see why. They look annoying as hell."

Samuel responded back,

"And they are annoying as hell. Always getting everyone and their moms in trouble."

Samuel turned off his phone and hid it away. And as if he were some kind of prophet, the teacher entered the class and scolded Jasper and his friends to get off of the tables.

Wow…getting lectured on the first day.
