A sea of fragrant flowers stretched out before them. Clusters of Gracidea blossoms bloomed across the grass, swaying gently in the soft breeze, picturesque like a painting.
Several small white hedgehog-like creatures, covered in fresh green grass, looked around nervously as they passed through, shy yet alert. In the end, bathed in a glow of light, wings sprouted from their backs, and they flew off together into the distance.
Combee were also hard at work, gathering nectar. They flew over a Snorlax sleeping soundly in the flower field, carrying the nectar back to their hive to be made into Honey for storage or to nourish their Vespiquen.
But what they didn't know was that this Snorlax, its belly rising and falling, was actually conserving energy—planning to sneak over at night, once they were asleep, to raid the hive and gorge itself on Honey…
Lumiere leaned against Snorlax's belly, breathing in the rich floral scent and taking in the vibrant scenery. After sitting there for so long, he had completely accepted his situation.
He then smiled and reached out, gently stroking the smooth feathers of the small brown ball nestled in his arms, savoring the soft, fluffy texture…
Just an hour ago, he had still been at home, troubled by a hole in his newly bought limited-edition Rowlet plush. Since it wasn't especially expensive, he hadn't bothered returning it and instead decided to sew it up himself.
But just as he cut some fabric from an old piece of clothing and finished sewing the final stitch by hand, a flash of white light suddenly filled his vision. When he came to his senses, he found himself standing in this field of flowers.
And after seeing the Snorlax sleeping beside him, as well as the Combee tirelessly flying back and forth, Lumiere finally realized that he had transmigrated—and into the Pokémon world, no less.
As someone with nothing tying him down, being able to cross into a world he loved naturally made him extremely happy.
But then he discovered that the Rowlet plush he had just finished mending had come along with him!
What's more, it had turned into a real Pokémon, curled up asleep in his arms, unbelievably adorable. The suddenness of it all left him completely unprepared.
Rowlet is a round, owl-like Pokémon. Its face is white and shaped like an infinity symbol, its body covered in brown feathers. On its chest are two green leaves tied like a bow, and it has a pair of short orange bird claws.
According to the Pokédex description in his memory, Rowlet are highly vigilant. During the day, they use photosynthesis to store energy, and at night they become active, hunting prey.
Though Lumiere had no idea what something about the same size as a Caterpie could possibly hunt…
"My clothes feel kind of loose, and my skin looks a bit paler too…"
After transmigrating, Lumiere noticed that he seemed to have become younger. As for how much younger, he wasn't sure yet, but judging by how he felt, he was probably around sixteen years old now.
For the time being, all he could do was hold Rowlet and continue leaning against Snorlax, staring up at the sky. This world was still far too unfamiliar to him.
What should he do next? Where should he go? He had no idea at all—and he was hungry, too…
At that moment, a Combee seemed to notice his situation. It flapped its wings and flew over, placing a piece of Shimmering Nectar—still not yet processed into Honey—on top of Rowlet's head before smiling and leaving.
"Thank you."
Lumiere thanked it softly. It seemed that these wild Pokémon were fairly friendly, unlike in the games where they would attack people at the drop of a hat.
He picked up the Shimmering Nectar, but just as he split it in two, planning to share half with Rowlet—
Suddenly, a huge hand reached out, snatched his half away, and stuffed it straight into its mouth, pretending nothing had happened afterward…
"???"
"Hey! I haven't even eaten yet!"
Lumiere jumped up and shouted at the Snorlax behind him, but it just scratched its belly and ignored him completely.
"Goo~" At that moment, Rowlet smelled the nectar in his hand and finally woke up, happily staring at the food in front of it.
Just as it opened its beak to eat, Snorlax made another move,
knocking Lumiere to the ground and snatching away the Shimmering Nectar in his hand.
"!!!"
Seeing its food stolen, the enraged Rowlet flapped its wings and shot forward. At the very moment the nectar was about to fall into Snorlax's mouth—
It bit down first, snatching the food right from under Snorlax's nose, then rapidly turned around and flew back to Lumiere, who had just climbed back to his feet, landing on his head.
Right in front of Snorlax, it ate the nectar, then closed its eyes and went right back to sleep.
At that instant, Snorlax was furious!
"Snorlax!"
"Holy—!"
The ground shook. Seeing Snorlax charge straight at him, Lumiere hurriedly scooped Rowlet from his head into his arms, then turned around and ran for his life.
For a time, the entire flower field descended into utter chaos…
As the sky gradually darkened, who knew how much time had passed before Lumiere finally stopped in a dense forest, leaning against an Oran Berry tree and gasping for breath.
He hadn't expected that right after arriving in this world, he'd already be attacked by a Snorlax. Luckily he'd run fast—otherwise, with that size, who could survive a Body Slam from it?
"To think I even ran into a forest… the Pokémon world's forest at night…"
Lumiere felt an inexplicable sense of dread. But by now, he didn't have the extra energy to think about it. He had already been hungry, then chased by Snorlax for so long—his body was truly at its limit.
He looked up at the branches above, laden with Oran Berries. Unfortunately, he no longer had the strength to climb, so he could only poke the bubble Rowlet had blown to wake it up.
"Rowlet, help me pick a few berries, okay…"
"Hoo?"
Rowlet blinked, tilting its round head as if thinking about something.
Then its gaze landed on the Oran Berries above, and delight immediately filled its face. With a flap of its wings, it flew up.
Seeing Rowlet listen to him, Lumiere felt a bit happy as well, waving from below and calling out, "Pick a few more!"
However, Rowlet seemed to completely ignore him. One bite after another, it ate to its heart's content, as if it had turned into a Snorlax itself—doing nothing but eating and sleeping.
"How hungry are you supposed to be…"
Still, thanks to Rowlet's vigorous movements, several Oran Berries couldn't withstand the shaking and fell from the branches, which Lumiere managed to pick up.
He took a big bite, chewing nonstop, but his expression gradually grew complicated.
"This taste… unprocessed, it really is just barely edible."
Oran Berries might look like blue oranges on the outside, but biting into one felt like chewing on a compressed biscuit—extremely hard. And aside from sweetness, every other flavor seemed to be there just a little…
Just then, a rustling sound suddenly came from the tree above. He put down the berry in his hand and looked up.
A huge, long white stinger suddenly shot out from the leaves, stabbing straight toward Rowlet!
"Watch out!" Lumiere shouted.
As the stinger thrust out farther, its owner finally revealed itself—it was a Beedrill!
This kind of Pokémon is extremely aggressive, with a strong sense of territory, and will launch fierce attacks on anyone who enters it!
Rowlet was completely focused on eating and didn't hear Lumiere's warning at all, nor did it notice that Beedrill was already attacking from above!
The stinger glowed purple. The venomous strike hit a vital spot, knocking Rowlet flying off the tree. Lumiere hurriedly reached out and caught it, then turned and ran—but Beedrill wouldn't let its prey escape, turning into a streak of cold light as it gave chase!
As Lumiere fled, he looked down at Rowlet in his arms. It seemed completely motionless. As a Grass-type Pokémon, being hit by a Poison-type attack was no joke!
Rowlet's eyes were shut tight, its expression clearly one of discomfort. Though it hadn't fainted, it had entered a poisoned state.
"This is bad. I have to cure the poison—Pecha Berries, where can I find Pecha Berries…"
Lumiere was frantic. On top of that, the sound of Beedrill's wings vibrating behind him was getting closer and closer. He was almost out of strength to keep running!
Worse still, the forest at night offered terrible visibility. Focused solely on escaping, he didn't watch his footing and suddenly tripped over a tree root jutting from the ground, crashing down hard. Rowlet slipped from his grasp, rolling several times before stopping with a dull thud.
Enduring the pain, Lumiere scrambled back to his feet—but Beedrill gave him no chance at all. Raising both stingers, it aimed straight at his body. With stingers that large, a single hit would probably punch straight through him!
Yet in that split second between life and death, a blue figure suddenly shot out from ahead, leaping over his head and colliding head-on with the Beedrill, sending it flying and smashing it into a tree!
Lumiere quickly turned to look. Floating in midair was a small, blue, round figure that looked extremely similar to Rowlet!
But its appearance was closer to Snorlax—a blue body, with perpetually half-closed eyes that looked drowsy, vividly lifelike!
"Did it really sleep itself into a Snorlax…?"
Lumiere stared at the figure in disbelief. He was certain this was his Rowlet. And at the same time, lines of information suddenly appeared before his eyes…
〔Pokémon: Rowlet (Snorlax Form) ♀〕
〔Type: Grass + Flying (Normal)〕
〔Ability: Immunity (Its immune system is too strong; it cannot enter a poisoned state)〕
〔Moves: Block, Yawn, Rest, Snore, Sleep Talk, Crunch, Heavy Slam, Body Slam〕
〔Status: Plush Awakening (Will not evolve, has no innate ability, cannot learn other moves), Injured (a minor heavy wound)〕
〔Affection: 100 (Your bond is practically overflowing)〕
And it wasn't over yet. After those strange lines of information, a Rotom device of unknown model appeared before Lumiere's eyes, along with an introduction…
This is Alola Home: Rowlet's Wardrobe~
Functions are as follows…
Here, you can craft and store all kinds of outfits for Rowlet. This ability can only be used by you and Rowlet.
To make crafting easier, you can view information on all Pokémon and prepare accordingly at any time.
To craft an outfit, take any item carrying a Pokémon's genetic material—such as scales or fur—and place it into the Rotom Sewing Machine to obtain a new outfit.
After Rowlet puts on an outfit, it will additionally gain that Pokémon's type, ability, moves, and powers.
If you wish to upgrade an outfit, please insert genetic material from that Pokémon again. The outfit will automatically receive a patch, replacing the old genes with the new ones. (Friendly reminder: Mega Evolutions, regional forms, and form changes all count as new Pokémon. Even if they share the same name, they will not be treated as patches to replace old genes. Dynamax and Gigantamax do not count.)
Outfits will not be damaged or lost. As long as Rowlet is not wearing them, no matter where the outfit is, you only need to think about it, and you can retrieve it again from the wardrobe—so Mom will never have to worry about you losing clothes again.
Attention!!!
This is not a dark story. You cannot shove Pokémon directly into the sewing machine! And don't even suggest doing something to a Pokémon first and then stuffing it in—that would be far too horrifying!
After Rowlet puts on an outfit, all of its abilities will also receive a 50% boost. However, please don't use this method to bully other Pokémon. At the very least, try to be a kind and benevolent person…
