Chapter 1 - Transmigrated

"hehehehehe"

Lin Mian giggled, her eyes glued to the screen as she read the latest chapter uploaded by her favorite author. Her joy was short-lived as she eventually reached the end of the chapter.

"Dammit the chapter was so short!" She exclaimed in annoyance.

The author had left a note at the bottom, she clicked on it.

'sorry for the short chapter my cat died.'

she blinked suddenly feeling guilty of her earlier annoyance. She then exited the book interface, not before giving the chapter a like.

Lin Mian scrolled through the website looking for something else to read. She spotted a book there was no rating, but it had thousands of views.

"huh that's weird."

She clicked on the book out of curiosity, not long after had she clicked the electricity of her apartment went out. she frowned, the light from her phone screen illuminating her face.

She got up, but her knee hit something in the process making her wince. She reached back to support herself against her chair but in the dark her hand touched nothing and with a bang she landed on the floor hitting her head as she blacked out.

'System loading….1.2…3…'

She heard a mechanical voice in her head, she tried to open her eyes, but they felt like they weighted millions. she groaned turning over on the bed wait a minute…a bed? wasn't she on the floor?

Lin was finally able to open her eyes, she was in an unfamiliar room. She looked around taking in her surroundings. It looked like a young girl's room, stuffed animals on the bed, a plush carpet and a bunch of romance novels on the shelf.

'Welcome to the first world host! I am system 009.'

She heard a mechanical voice in her head. what? a system? the first world? what is exactly going on, is this a dream?

Her mind was filled with a bunch of questions, before she could continue this train of thought the mechanical voice of the system interrupted her musings.

'this is not a dream host, you have been chosen to fix this world.'

"Fix this world? What is wrong with it?"

She asked the supposed system in her mind.

'I don't know what's wrong either, this world and others just keep on collapsing.'

At the systems worlds she rolled her eyes.

"When you don't even know the problem how am I supposed to fix it? you're useless,"

'. . .'

The system had nothing to say, it hadn't expected to be dragged like this on its first day at work.

She sighed and got up from the bed. There was a body length mirror near the window she walked up to it, curious about her appearance.

Her eyes widen as she looked into her reflection, she had gotten younger! soft supple skin, a hint of rosiness on her cheeks. Thick and long eyelashes, she looked so youthful.

She cupped her face in disbelief.

"Oh my! I'm so pretty" she exclaimed, unable to contain her excitement she hoped around the room in joy.

The system looked at its host who was jumping around like a bunny and shook its head.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Lin Mian stopped in her tracks and went to open the door. A woman stood in the doorway, she looked similar to Lin.

'Host, this is your mother.'

"I can see that."

Every time she heard the voice of this incompetent system she got annoyed.

System: "…."

The system didn't know with whom should it share its grievances.

"Mian Mian I'm going to the supermarket, is there something you need?'

Her mom asked, smiling softly.

Lin was stunned for a moment, she couldn't remember the last time someone talked to her so gently. She had been an orphan for as long as she could remember and her foster parents were very ignorant. So she grew up without any warmth and love, hearing this woman talking to her so gently she almost cried.

"No mom, I don't need anything."

She responded

"Alright, I'll be going, your breakfast is in the kitchen. Don't be late for school."

With that the door closed, and she was left in the room.

Lin Mian couldn't help the smile that bloomed on her face.
