Chapter 1 - Plot Armor?

"What bad luck."

In an apartment, Long Yun sat on a couch with empty eyes. He saw nothing but shadows. His mind was hazy, and little by little, he was losing consciousness.

"What are the odds? The first wine I ever bought has methanol in it. That's some next-level bad luck." Long Yun sighed, accepting his death.

Closing his eyes, he waited for it all to end. But before he completely lost consciousness, a soft sound echoed in his ears.

[Divine Plot Armor System has been activated]

[Due to poisoning, a forced transfer to an immortal plane will occur]

"Huh? Am I hallucinating?" That was the last thing Long Yun managed to think.

After the young man passed out, a golden light descended to Earth, tearing through space at the speed of light. In seconds, it cut through the atmosphere like a falling star, leaving a trail behind it, until it hovered above the building where Long Yun was.

Ripping through the void, the light passed through the walls without a sound. When it entered the room, it landed on the young man's forehead but didn't harm him. When it touched him, it caused no damage.

Twisting space and time, the light sank into his head, and moments later, his body vanished.

Inside the apartment, there was no one.

The event caused no stir in the world, not even after years had passed. After all, no one knew who Long Yun was, nor that he had ever existed. He was erased from Earth without leaving a trace.

...

Mount Yue, located in the Crimson Phoenix Land—one of the Seven Continents of the Holy World—stretched vast and high, with peaks rising for kilometers.

Above it, the dark sky suddenly gained a golden star. It descended toward the summit like lightning, crossing the distance in an instant before landing on the silver-white ground.

On the soil, the star was replaced by a young man with short hair, wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and modern white pants.

[Plot Armor has been activated]

A sound echoed within Long Yun's consciousness, where there was only darkness. That voice awakened his mind, making him open his eyes. But he still couldn't see anything.

Touching his chin, Long Yun began to think: 'What the hell is going on? Was I taken to a hospital? Yeah, that sounds likely. But why do I feel so good, aside from being blind?'

He could move his limbs and even smell things, but the current scent was strange. It was sweet and had the freshness of pure air.

"That's weird. And this voice in my head?" Long Yun frowned, wondering if he was dreaming.

[Host, this is not a dream.]

"Huh? So it's real," he said casually. "Wait— it's real?"

Long Yun froze, unable to believe that something straight out of a novel could happen in reality. It was far too shocking. Yet, surprisingly, he didn't feel fear. In fact, he was oddly calm.

"This isn't right. I'm accepting this way too fast… Maybe it's because I died? Yeah, that must be it." He tried to rationalize it, then focused on the voice.

"Hey, System, you said the Plot Armor was activated. What the hell does that mean?"

[I casually manipulated fate so that something would happen here to save the host. Think of it like the protagonists in those novels you read, surviving after falling off a cliff.]

"...."

Long Yun was speechless and stayed silent for several minutes.

"So I've got some illogical plot armor that'll save me no matter what I do?"

[Yes.]

"That's a nice cheat… if used properly."

Even if he was an indestructible cockroach, Long Yun didn't want to keep running around, chased by experts, relying solely on luck to survive. He disliked that kind of protagonist who acted brainlessly and provoked stronger people for no reason.

"Hey, System… how exactly does this plot armor thing work?"

[Through probabilities and coincidences.]

[The system always traces the best path for every situation, sometimes forcing coincidences—like right now. The host is blind and infected with a liquid that's slowly destroying his body. Still, he can move because his soul hasn't fully adapted to this world, blocking part of his general perception.]

"That's bad..." Long Yun's heart raced, but he soon calmed down, thinking about causality and probability. "System, in my current situation, the best thing would be a coincidence. So what the hell is about to happen?"

[I don't know. I can manipulate fate, but not foresee the future.]

"...."

"So all I can do is wait?" Long Yun, with no choice, sat on the unfamiliar ground and waited silently.

As the young man sat there, a creature climbed up the floating shroud, seemingly attracted by something. Soon, the small being spotted the motionless boy. Its eyes gleamed, and landing on his thighs, it moved its mouth to his fingers and began sucking the enticing liquid.

"Hahaha!" Long Yun laughed, feeling something sucking his ring finger. "System, what the hell is going on?"

[The Blue Moon Silkworm was drawn by the wine in your body. The scent is unknown, but pleasant to the creature.]

'I've been saved. The wine in my body is being drained… But my eyes will still stay blind.' Long Yun wasn't in a good mood. "Hey, can I use the plot to heal my eyes?"

[No. Probabilities and coincidences don't work like that. They can provide a path but never an instant solution. That's how the laws of Heaven and Earth stay balanced.]

"So I can walk down a path that leads to a solution, but I can't stumble right onto it. It's like playing a blindfolded game where you know you'll get lucky—but never know what kind of luck it'll be."

Long Yun concluded bitterly. He didn't want to stay blind in a strange world where he couldn't see anything. To make things worse, he'd have to wander around searching for a way forward. He was afraid of falling into a river. Even with plot armor, he didn't want to act like an idiot and seek death on purpose.

"But I don't have a choice… What a damn mess."

He cursed several times. In the end, he accepted that he'd have to walk aimlessly. Not that it was much of a choice—after all, he couldn't just sit there waiting to die of thirst or hunger. Sooner or later, he'd have to face reality.

...

The Silkworm, its blue skin covered in snowy fluff, happily drank the wine. Its small face turned a rosy red. When the feast was over, it curled up on Long Yun's lap, closed its eyes, and took a nap.

"What an interesting little thing." Long Yun raised his hands toward the creature. It was small and cold to the touch, its fur icy, as if made of pure frost.

"Blue Moon Silkworm? You should be called Snow Silkworm instead."
