Synopsis
Since kindergarten, Nina and William have been inseparable. Their friendship seemed unbreakable, a bond everyone envied. Until high school. When Chloé, brilliant and confident, enters William’s life, Nina believes she can remain the loyal, silent friend. But gradually, her feelings shift. What she once considered pure friendship turns into a confusing emotion she doesn’t dare to name. Around them are their friends: Sophia, Charlotte, and Rose, Nina’s confidantes, and Thomas, Franklin, and Junior, William’s circle. Each brings a perspective, support, or obstacle, making the high school environment both familiar and tension-filled. Through laughter, parties, homework, and mundane moments, Nina experiences the rollercoaster of teenage emotions: jealousy, guilt, and fear of ruining everything. Every small gesture, every silence becomes a minefield. Her notebook becomes the only place she can pour out her racing heart: “Love me, please, William.”

Chapter 1 - The First Day of High School

The morning sun was slipping through the tall windows of the classroom, casting long, wavering shadows across the polished floor. Nina was walking beside William, her backpack bouncing lightly against her shoulder as the hallways buzzed with the anxious chatter of freshmen. She was trying to appear calm, adjusting the strap of her bag for the third time, but her heart was already a drum in her chest. It's just high school… just another day, she told herself, forcing a small, steadying smile.

William, as usual, seemed unbothered. His confident stride and casual smile drew glances from students passing by. He waved at a few familiar faces, his presence commanding attention without effort. Nina glanced down, suddenly self-conscious, as if her own steps might betray the storm inside her. Why does he make it look so easy?

They entered the classroom together. Desks were neatly aligned in rows, papers stacked, chairs tucked under. The smell of fresh markers and polished wood filled the air. Chatter filled the room until the teacher's sharp voice cut through. Settle down, everyone. First day of high school.

Nina slid into her usual seat beside William, feeling the familiar comfort of proximity. Memories of kindergarten, of scraped knees and secret handshakes, flickered behind her eyes. We've always been together… always. But something in the air today hinted that nothing would remain the same.

William leaned back, stretching casually, catching her gaze. "Ready for this?" he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice.

Nina nodded, hiding the fluttering panic. "As ready as I'll ever be."

The morning passed in a blur of introductions and new faces. Teachers spoke, students whispered, and Nina kept her attention anchored to William, observing how effortlessly he navigated the room. She wanted to laugh, to joke, but the words lodged in her throat, heavy with something she couldn't yet name.

During the lunch break, small groups began forming. Sophia waved from across the yard, Charlotte was already laughing with a cluster of friends, and Rose, quiet and observant, sat nearby sketching in her notebook. On the other side, William was joined by Thomas, Franklin, and Junior, voices blending into a warm, competitive camaraderie. Nina drifted between the groups, a shadow tethered to William, half-hidden, half-hoping to remain unnoticed.

A bell rang, slicing the air. "Second period," muttered William, grabbing his books. Nina followed, notebook tucked under her arm. She couldn't stop herself from jotting a single, hurried line: I hope today doesn't change everything.

As they settled into the next classroom, the energy shifted. New challenges awaited, new connections forming in the edges of the room. And in that swirl of excitement and fear, Nina realized that high school was not just a continuation of childhood—it was the first chapter of something unknown, something fragile, and possibly dangerous to the heart.
