Synopsis
I grew up believing I was unwanted, left in a countryside orphanage with no family. So when my parents suddenly came to take me home at seventeen, I truly thought it was because they loved me. But everything shattered the moment I stepped into their mansion. My real mother was long dead. The woman I called “Mother” was only a stepmother. And their so-called kindness had a price. On my eighteenth birthday, they forced me to marry a disabled billionaire—a man my “lovely” stepsister refused to marry. I was just a tool to secure their precious connections. After that night, my life became like a movie I could only watch. Someone or something took over my body, destroying my marriage and shattering my husband’s heart until he no longer cared whether I lived or died. By the time I regained control of my body, it was already too late. I died. But fate gave me another chance. This time, I awoke on the very night of our wedding—the night everything began. This time, I won’t let anyone control me. This time, I’ll protect him…or do I need to protect myself?

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Did God Give Me a Chance

"She's lucky, right..." One of the guests said, looking around at the luxurious hallway, which was decorated with flowers.

The man standing beside him raised his wine glass. "Heh, you think the Bai family is lucky, don't joke around."

The first guest clinked his wine glass with his, smirking the entire time. "Don't be jealous. We can't compare to the Bai family now. Bai Zhen has completely kowtowed to the Xie family.

"Say whatever you want, but I'm shocked the Bai family didn't marry their eldest daughter."

The guests were chatting happily, clinking glasses and making connections. On the second floor, Bai Feng's eyes stirred open with difficulty; Her eyes felt like they were tied shut with a rope.

"Ughh." With trembling hand, she rubbed her head, feeling a fabric blocking her from touching her skin.

When her cloudy vision cleared, all she could see was a world of redness and blurriness.

'Is this hell....' Thinking she was in hell, she sat up, her hands sinking into the soft mattress that confused her.

'wasn't hell supposed to be painful, why is this so heavenly...' The veil covering her face fell off with her movement, revealing her long eyelashes, her jade-like face, and red lips that are enough to ignite any male's desires.

Seeing the red bride veil on her lap, Bai Feng tilted her head, but the moment she recognized the veil, she scrambled off the bed in a hurry.

Standing on the floor with bare feet, she felt the weight of the bride's dress. In panic, she touched her cheeks, her ears.

"I can feel my face." Bai Feng mutters in amazement. She remembers that for five years, she couldn't feel her skin, no matter how much effort she put in it.

She shivered, hugging her arms, remembering those painful memories. It was like watching a movie of her life and watching her ruin her own life.

Her eyes caught the decoration of the room with a pale face, and she walked around the room, taking every detail in.

"No way..." She quickly turned and ran near the dressing table, looking at her reflection carefully.

"Gulp, Did god give me a chance to live again?" She turns her body, looking at every corner to make sure it's not a dream.

Walking back, she sat down on the bed, gently rubbing the mattress. "Now I need to figure out a way out of this situation." In her previous life, on the first night of their marriage, her husband was utterly drunk and not in his right state of mind.

He had declared that he did not love her and had already started to maintain his distance from her.

"What should I do waaah?" She lay down and started rolling on the bed in frustration.

"Gosh," she stopped rolling and looked at the ceiling.

----

"Stop it already, bro..." Quan Huan reached out to snatch the beer bottle from Xie Meng's hand.

"Um." Xie Meng pushes his hand away in irritation and gulps beer again, "Hah." Putting the beer on the table, he looked up at the dark sky, his hair scattered, his cheeks red from overdrinking.

Quan Huan rubbed his forehead in irritation. With an annoyed sigh, he reached out and took the blue headband from his head.

"Come on, bro, this moment comes to every person's life. How long do you want to remain a bachelor?" His eyes widen, and with a quick hand, he snatches the bottle Xie Meng was reaching for and throws it down.

Xie Meng watches calmly as the bottle falls and shatters in the garden below them.

"Go now, brother. Mom will get angry if she knows you are drunk on this important day." Quan Huan patted his shoulder and turned to walk away, waving his hand without looking back.

Xie Meng leaned back on his wheelchair, resting his head against it and closing his eyes, raising his hand, he loosened his tie and unhooked the top button of his shirt, revealing his collarbone.

---

Bai Feng's eyes stir open at the sudden sound of wheels sliding. In panic, she quickly put on the veil again and lay down, closing her eyes, pretending to sleep.

"Click."

Her eyes trembled at the sound of the door opening, her fist clenched tightly against the hem of her dress.

Xie Meng raises his brow, seeing her sleeping, with narrow eyes. He slid the remote lever forward, moving his wheelchair closer to the bed.

He stopped his wheelchair near the bed. The room was silent with only the sound of Bai Feng breathing. He raised his hand toward Bai Feng in bed.

Bai Feng became anxious. She opened her eyes and peered through the red veil, and she noticed his hand reaching for her.

'What is he doing? Is he going to touch me....' She closed her eyes again, and her mind raced with inappropriate thoughts that made her heart race.

Xie Meng simply removes the veil from her face, his blurry eyes trying to focus through drowsiness.

He leans down, his face inches away from her face, trying to check if she is asleep or not, too drunk to think of his actions.

'WHAT, WHAT, WHAT....' Bai Feng held her breath; she could feel the warm breath of his directly hitting her eyes, her toes curling up to force herself not to show him she was pretending.

She sighs in relief when he leans his head back and turns his wheelchair in a different direction.

"Bang." She flinched at the sound of hitting some metal, and she squinted her left eye, opening it so that she could see what had happened.

What she caught shocked and froze her. Xie Meng was opening his shirt buttons, then he threw his shirt on the sofa.

Despite being disabled, his physique is rather astonishing, with toned muscles and a perfect body that cant develop without a workout.

Xie Meng, unaware of eyes on him, stretched his arms, his stomach churning. "Tch, why did I drink this much?" He mutters, reaching back, he pulls out a pistol and puts it in the drawer.

"Gasp."

He frowned, the downiness vanishing at the sound of an unmistakable gasp; his eyes stared at Bai Feng carefully.
