Chapter 1 - First Day of College

Amara's POV

"Jia, wake up," said Mom. It was our first day of college. Jia had been so busy arranging her college essentials last night that now she just wanted to sleep. It's already 8 in the morning, and our lectures start at 9:00. Neither I nor Jia are early birds, but since this is the first day, we need to hurry and get there on time.

"Oh, now breakfast is ready, so my little sleepyhead has to wake up," Mom added.

"I will take Jia here; you take your breakfast, Mom," I said as I left the dining table and walked toward our room.

"Jia, wake up! Do you really want to be late on our very first day of college?" I asked, entering the room—but she was already awake and now showering.

"Good morning, babes," said Jia, exiting the bathroom.

"Morning, hottie. So what's the plan?" I said, smirking at her.

"The plan is to make at least five to ten boys fall for me," said Jia, giggling.

We started getting ready, having a little outfit suggestion session between us.

"Wow girl, you're looking like a sexy bitch already, huh?" said Jia, looking at herself in the mirror.

"Let's go, and don't forget to keep your admission letter and ID card," I said, handing her the car keys.

"Ok," replied Jia, making a salute sign.

"You girls can't get ready before the last minute. It's the first day, and still you will leave just five minutes early," said Mom, her tone starting to freak us out.

"Sorry Mom, we are ready. Please give us breakfast," said Jia with a pouty face. Her face card never misses a chance to get everything she wants.

"Alright, have a great day ahead, girls, and Amara, Dad will get you a new laptop this evening," said Mom.

"Ok Mom, thank you!" we said, and both of us left as we couldn't afford to be more late.

Crescent Valley University

"Wow, the vibe here is really something," I said while entering the college.

"Yeah, the air of freedom and new beginnings," replied Jia with a proud and relieved smile.

"Amara, CS Department is on the 5th floor, and now we have to part ways as Law Department is on the 2nd floor," said Jia, with a commanding yet happy face.

"Ok then, see you," I replied while heading toward the lift.

I entered my lecture hall and, as supposed, the students were all rich and fully equipped with new gadgets. The first day really has different vibes. I went to a seat where one girl was coding on her laptop while others were talking and making new friends.

"Would you mind if I sat here?" I said, pointing at the chair beside her.

"Yeah, of course," she replied with a hint of joy in her voice.

"Hi, I am Amara," I said while offering a handshake.

"Lilliana Robinson, you can call me Lilly," she quickly accepted the handshake.

We were just talking when the professor came in. With a warm smile on his face, he entered the lecture hall.

"Good morning, Engineers, I am your Language Professor," said the professor and started the lecture with the very basics of Java language, as in this semester Java is our programming language.

Jia's POV

The lecture hall is huge compared to the other ones I saw on the way here, every face showing excitement as well as nervousness on the first day.

"Hi, I am Adrian Petrova," said a boy behind me.

"Hello, I am Jia Morgan," as we shared a handshake. He is cute enough to make me look at him again and again, I admit. Come back to reality, girl—you are here to study.

We sat together, and soon the professor came and started the lecture. It was a light lecture with a simple introduction to Law and the Legal System.

"By the way, Professor Harper is handsome, don't you think so?" I asked Adrian with an evil smile.

"Yeah, but not more than me," he replied with a smirk and proud face, and we both laughed.

"Wanna grab lunch together?" asked Adrian.

"Umm, next time. My sister might be waiting for me," I replied with a little forced smile.

"Ok, no problem. Yeah, sure, next time," said Adrian, and we started walking toward the ground floor by stairs—and don't ask me why, because this cute guy wanted to, so I couldn't say no. One 'no' had already been said.

"Ok, then I will take leave first. See you tomorrow," said Adrian as we reached the entrance on the ground floor.

"Bye," I said, waving my hand.

I walked out toward the parking, and yes, there she was—Amara, leaning on the car, hands crossed and a frown on her face, of course. It took us ten minutes only to come to the ground floor because of chatting and taking the stairs.

"Hey, how was the day?" I asked to deviate her attention.

"Was going good until I had to stand here for fifteen minutes," she replied with a hint of annoyance.

"Ok baby, sorry, but I have a valid reason for this. Get in the car, I will tell you on the way," I said with a proud, silly smile.

"Got the tea already, huh?" said Amara with a happy face.

We both hopped in as Amara decided to drive.

"So, tell me where you invested your fifteen minutes?" Amara asked while fixing her seatbelt.

"Yeah, so there's a cute guy I met whose name is Adrian. We sat together, and after the lectures, he asked me to have lunch together, but I denied," I said, but she cut me off.

"Why?"

"Because I didn't want to. It's just the first day, but I told him for any other day," I replied with a guilty face.

"Ok, but this conversation can't take fifteen minutes of yours," she asked again.

"Yeah, so after that he started walking toward the stairs while talking to me, and I thought it's kinda rude to make an excuse again for taking the lift, so I joined him," I replied.

"Yeah, that's right. Ok, apology accepted because you had a valid reason for being late," she said.

"By the way, how was your day?" I asked her, as she went silent after that.

"Mine went good as well. I made a friend. Her name is Lilliana Robinson," she replied, but she was not as excited as she usually is.

"Anything else?" I asked.

"Yeah, and I saw Julian there," she paused.

"What? Where? In your department?" I asked with annoyance.

"No, not in mine, but on the way to parking," she said with a faint smile.

"Don't tell Mom," she said while getting out of the car.

"Yeah girl, there is nothing good in him to talk about," I replied, trying to be a little funny.
