The Villain's Greatest Plot Twist!
•━❪❃❫━•
It's the hero's job to stop the villain.
And the villain's job is to destroy the hero.
That's how a typical story should be when a hero and a villain are involved.
But that's not what happened when I first crossed paths with the notorious S-class and rank no. 2 villain who already made his name and noise in the city as the youngest high-ranking villain ever.
He goes by the name "Red Hilt."
As a rookie hero trying to carve out my place in an industry where saving lives is treated like a career, facing someone like Red Hilt was a perfect career opportunity. Not everyone gets to face a high-class villain like him with a hefty bounty on his head that rings out at Ten Billion Boris, which sends even veteran heroes on edge.
This was a rare opportunity in my career: to prove that Arondight wasn't just another rookie hero parading around with a powerful weapon and a glowing reputation handed to him by the public.
I wanted to prove that I was strong and worthy of the title of "hero" of Galahad City.
That's why when I cornered Red Hilt after he attacked a bank in the city capital, I immediately took the opportunity to fight him. I clashed with him with all I've got until I had driven him back and was able to point the tip of my lightning spear at his neck.
That scene embodies victory; the moment every hero dreams of achieving.
Of course, I couldn't forget the classic script that heroes utter whenever a villain stands on the edge of defeat, which also declares my sweet victory.
Despite the fatigue, wounds, and bruises that burn against my skin, I forced myself closer to Red Hilt. My grip remained steady despite my injuries, and I asked him:
"Any last words?"
He didn't respond right away. Instead, he just stared at me. Now that I look at him closely, I can see that the color of his eyes is exactly like rubies. The sharpness of those bright red eyes matched perfectly his pale, smooth complexion, along with his silky black hair that looks so soft it seems like a model in a shampoo commercial.
It's annoying to admit, but many villains have beautiful faces that could rival popular celebrities.
And this man was one of them.
Even so, I refused to submit to his good looks. I pressed the tip of my spear against his neck until it sank slightly, creating a thin streak of blood that slid down his throat. But even so, he kept staring at me as if he saw no one else around but me.
And then, finally, his lips curled into the faintest but alluring smirk I've ever seen.
Then he said calmly, "How about hooking up with me instead?"
For a second, I thought I just misheard him. That was the last I expected of all the things a cornered villain like him could reply.
This guy...
This fucking guy...
Does he mean...like that? Is he...serious?
I don't know if I'm asking or surprised.
But what I do know is that this moment should have been mine! At this point, I should be celebrating that I could bring down Red Hilt and prove that Arondight isn't just another hero rookie desperately crawling his way up just for fame.
But instead, my stupid heart's pounding like crazy in my chest, and I can't deny the heat spreading across my face, burning all the way to the tips of my ears upon hearing this villain's confession(?) suggestion(?)
I don't know anymore.
But I know this isn't how it's supposed to go.
No, definitely not at all!
