How fast would you run to escape?
Knowing that, the escape you're sprinting towards doesn't exist.
When you've been set with a responsibility.
You don't know why.
Why was it specifically you?
But there's nothing you can do.
Nothing The Solivagant can do.
When you're mesmerised by something, how long does it last before you realise it's due to end?
Sooner or later it'll end.
And you know you can't stop it from ending, all you can do is delay it.
So what if The Solivagant was put in the same situation?
Except, this time, the ending is unknown.
What is it you're entranced by?
The Solivagant doesn't know.
He doesn't know what the ending is.
He doesn't even know what he's waiting for.
Nor when it'll happen.
He doesn't know if the ending is something he's supposed to delay.
Or something he should aspire for it to happen faster.
He doesn't know if there is any point running somewhere.
He doesn't know why he needs to escape.
All he knows is that he exists.
At least to a certain group of people.
However, who knows if that group of people is what he wants to run from?
Maybe they're the ones triggering his survival instincts.
But he doesn't know that.
He doesn't know them.
And he won't, for a long time.
