The courtyard buzzed with noise, laughter, chatter, the clatter of sneakers on pavement.
Maya adjusted the strap of her bag and stepped through the gates, her pulse quickening. This was gonna be Maya's first day at Crestwood Academy. The kind of school parents bragged about at dinner parties. Home to the kids of CEOs, politicians, billionaires.
Maya felt incredibly shy, she was gonna resume a week after the resumption date, 'I'm definitely getting the back seat' she thought but she'd manage. She was gonna find her way to the principal's office for registration when her eyes caught movement near the School's fountain. It was a female student making a video of herself, ring light propped, a familiar music playing from her phone, holding a cup of coffee, she was doing a tiktok dance, it was Maya's favourite dance "wow she's so good" Maya thought as she stood there smiling and watching it was so lovely until.... Bam
A guy had bumped into the girl dancing almost intentionally, the girl stumbled, coffee cup flying from her hand. It arced in the air before splashing over the guy's spotless white sneakers.
The courtyard froze. Honestly Maya was expecting the guy to catch the girl just like all those romance movie but the guy seemed to care more about his sneakers as he kept staring at the stain like it was some virus.
Meanwhile the guy didn't even flinch, he just stood there, tall and broad, his expression hard enough to make the air heavy
ADRIAN COLE
Maya had to admit he was strikingly handsome but he just felt.... Aloof with a kinda distant vibes. The dancer's face drained of color, she was visibly shaken, still laying on the floor "I'm... sorry.. It... was...an..accc..ident" she muttered.
The crowed leaned in. Adrian smirked, tilting his head. "do you have any idea how much this shoes cost?" he asked staring straight at the girl she felt soo intimidated "I'm so sorry I'll clean it" she said as she scrambled up and reached out for her handkerchief to wipe of the stain. "don't use that.... Use your tongue" he said almost as a whisper. Gasps, laughter, the click of cameras recording filled the air. The girl froze, trembling then she went on her knees, her face bent to his foot.
Maya's stomach twisted in a knot she had expected the girl or anyone else to stand up and confront that guy after all he bumped into her literally he could have walked somewhere else must not have been close to the fountain.
The poor girl shamefully wiped every stain with her tongue like a dog before scrambling away in humiliation. Adrian simply turned adjusting his jacket with that careless arrogance that made everyone look lesser around him, he turned to leave like the whole scene had been nothing but a nuisance. The crowd parted way for him. Whispers trailing behind. His hand slipped into his pocket, his stride arrogand and unhurried. Then he caught a pair of hazel eyes staring at him-Maya, 'her eyes had a spark of fearlessness she looked so innocent and.... pretty' . He thought but he brushed that thought, he just smirked faintly and turned away.
Maya could swear her heart slipped a beat when he had looked at her but nevertheless he should not get away with what he had done to that poor girl. Maya stepped forward, her pulse racing her voice slicing through the crowd of students like glass. "Hey you!! do you think you can treat a girl like that and just walk away like that?"
Silence erupted
