Chapter 5 - Rosie vs the wild test...(chaos edition)

Rosie woke up with a start. Today was The Test. Not just any test—the big one Master Solaris promised would show if she was a true cultivator-in-training or just a pink-haired disaster waiting to happen. She rubbed her eyes and glanced at her wooden spoon glowing faintly on the table. "Okay, little spoon," she whispered, "let's not embarrass ourselves."

Down at the village square, Milo was already doing what he did best—flapping his arms like a mad bird. "Today you're gonna crush it, Rosie! I can feel it!"

Rosie gave him a half-smile. Feeling reassuring words from Milo was nice, but deep down she was nervous. How do you impress a master when your biggest weapon looks like it belongs in a kitchen?

Master Solaris appeared looking serene, which made Rosie feel even more nervous. His calmness was so intense, she wondered if he'd been meditating since forever. "Welcome, star pupil," he said with a wink. "Today your real trial begins."

Rosie gulped.

The test? Control your Qi, hit the targets, don't destroy the village. Easy, right? Wrong.

First challenge: Hit a small wooden target dangling from a tree branch. Sounds simple? Nope.

Take one: Rosie swung her spoon with all her shaky might—and released a burst of Qi so weak it looked like a glow stick had expired. The target barely twitched.

"Hmm," said Solaris, "an interesting start."

Rosie muttered, "Interesting? That's one word for it." Milo snorted in the background.

Second take! Rosie closed her eyes, focused. Flow Qi, she told herself. Calm, precise. She swung again—this time the spoon tip glowed brighter and whoosh! The energy zipped out like a shooting star, hitting the target squarely.

The crowd gasped. Milo cheered loudly. Rosie almost smiled—but then...

The third challenge was the nightmare: Two small targets swinging side by side, inches apart.

Rosie's plan? Hit both with one swing.

Reality? She swung her spoon like a pro golfer trying to smash a home run. Result? First pulse hit the right target perfectly. The second? It shot off—whizz!—and smacked a barrel filled with rotten cabbage, which exploded in an awful stench.

Everyone gasped. Villagers pinched their noses. Even Master Solaris blinked.

Rosie's face turned as pink as her hair. "I call that a… tactical distraction," she joked weakly.

Just when Rosie thought she'd salvaged the situation, the final challenge appeared: Hit the little bell hanging at the top of a tall pole.

She stared up. It looked miles away.

Taking a breath, she gathered all the Qi she could. The wooden spoon glowed bright blue now, humming with energy.

She swung with everything she had—and the energy burst flew out like a comet!

BANG!

The vase on the ground exploded instead.

Silence.

Rosie froze.

Master Solaris broke into laughter. "Well done! You turned a simple test into a village festival!"

Rosie laughed too, relieved. "I'm the chaos queen of cultivation."

Milo wiped tears of laughter away. "Only you, Rosie."

But beneath the fun and chaos, Master Solaris's words were serious. "True cultivation isn't just power, but control. You're off to a wild start, but your heart is strong. Keep honing your skills—your journey has just begun."

Rosie nodded, spoon in hand. She might have been messy and clumsy, but she was ready for the adventure.

The villagers couldn't stop talking about Rosie's test performance. The story of the exploding cabbage barrel and smashed vase spread like wildfire.

An old woman sighed, "She's… unique, that one."

A little kid told his friends, "Rosie's spoon has magic! She made cabbage fly!"

Rosie just smiled, happy to brighten up the village with her wild energy and big dreams.

That night, under the stars, Rosie held her spoon tight.

"Chaos or not," she whispered, "this is just the beginning. Tomorrow, we get stronger—maybe with fewer exploding vegetables."

And with that, she drifted off to dream about glowing swords, fierce battles, and one day, standing proud before the great cultivation school.
