The village was still buzzing with excitement from Rosie's first win. Everyone talked about how the pink-haired girl with the glowing wooden spoon had beaten the tough vine whip boy. Even the grumpy old man was forced to admit, "She's got guts, I'll give her that."
Rosie woke up feeling a little sore but proud. Milo bounced at her door as usual. "Ready for battle number two? It's going to be wild!"
Rosie sighed. "I'm ready... I think."
Soon, word spread that her next challenger had arrived. Standing tall in the village square was a strange figure wearing a colorful mask shaped like a fierce dragon. A giant drum hung from his shoulder, and in his hands, he carried a pair of huge drumsticks.
"This is Lian," Milo whispered nervously. "He's known as the 'Thunder Drum' for his loud battle music. Watch out!"
Rosie blinked. "Loud music? What does that have to do with fighting?"
Milo grinned. "You'll see. Let's just hope it doesn't blow your ears off."
The fight began with Lian swinging his drumsticks wildly, beating a thunderous rhythm on his drum. BOOM! BOOM! The ground shook a little. Birds flew away, and a few old ladies covered their ears.
Rosie covered her ears too, but she gritted her teeth and held her spoon ready to fight.
Lian's music wasn't just noise. With every drumbeat, waves of energy rippled around him, strong enough to knock people off their feet.
"Alright, music man," Rosie shouted, "Let's see if your beats can handle my spoon!"
She swung her spoon and sent out a glowing burst of Qi. The energy pulse floated through the air, cutting through Lian's powerful drum waves.
Lian laughed behind his mask. "Nice trying, but my beats never stop!"
He drummed louder, making the ground rumble like a tiny earthquake. Rosie had to jump and dodge as sonic waves crashed toward her.
Milo shouted from the crowd, "Watch out! Run, Rosie, run!"
Rosie ran around like a spinning top, trying not to trip on broken crates or stray chickens. She shouted, "How do you fight a drummer?!"
Lian grinned mischievously. With a sharp drumroll, he sent a circle of energy waves that pushed Rosie backward.
Rosie knew she couldn't just run forever. She took a deep breath and remembered her magical necklace. The Starbound Charm flowed through her, making her faster, stronger, and cleverer.
She focused her Qi into the spoon tip. It glowed bright blue like a tiny sun.
With a yell, Rosie swung her spoon in a wide arc. The energy shot out as a sparkling ribbon that danced through the air and hit Lian's drum—breaking the weapon into tiny glowing pieces.
The music stopped. Lian pulled off his mask, revealing a boy with bright eyes and a wide smile.
"You're amazing," Lian said, laughing. "I didn't think a pink-haired girl with a spoon could beat my thunder drums."
Rosie caught her breath, smiling back. "I may be weird... but I'm full of surprises."
The villagers cheered loudly. Milo jumped up and down so much he almost knocked over the village well.
Rosie wiped her sweaty brow. "Two enemies down, eight more to go. This is going to be fun... and chaotic."
That night, Rosie sat alone, thinking about the battle.
"Music, vines, giant chickens... what's next?" she wondered.
Holding her glowing spoon, she whispered, "Bring it on. I'm ready for anything."
