As I was walking through the dim forest, the fog thickening as I head towards the sounds of fighting.
The sounds of claws on flesh, the roars of beasts echoing through the still forest.
Creeping around the RedWood trees, I peep to see them. The magical Beasts I'm told to fear, fire lit at their feet. Black, Brown and Auburn furs, of all shades. Some on two legs and some on four. The snarls and fighting should have terrified me, but I wasn't scared so easily.
Suddenly I felt a hand land on my shoulder, "Elra, we have already told you, warrior training between the Shifters, Werewolf and Lycan alike, is off limits to Fairy's. Princess or not, you must leave. It's not safe for any kind near us when we are in our Beast forms. Especially not delicate little flowers such as the Fairy's."
I should have known he would sniff me out, the Gamma of the Ashen Moon Pack, Landon 'Asshowl', as we in my realm call him, always waiting to scold me and belittle my kind, like we are the weaker of the hidden world.
"Landon, I'm not 'Just a princess Fairy'" I say with a subtle mocking in my soft tone, not wanting to draw the attention of the training shifters. "I will be the Queen soon, and I am the best warrior among us. If you'd only let us train with your kind, you would SEE we are not just 'Delicate Flowers'. We are not the fairy's that are in the human children's tales, not some TinkerBell, tiny and cute. We stand our ground and should be feared as much as the shifters, witches and blood suckers are!"
The asshowl chuckles dismissively, as he does every night that I sneak in here. "Princess DaeLynn, delicate flower, if you should be feared, then how can you not manage one day to sneak past me? Every night is the same, every conversation is the same. I can smell the Tulips and RedWoods more potently when you are near, a scent should not be so potent, especially not from a REAL warrior."
Condescending bastard.
"Listen you AssHowl Gamma.."
"ELRA SAPPHIRE GRAVESTONE! GET BACK TO THE CASTLE THIS INSTANT!"
I roll my eyes as I see my lovely petulant prison guard walk towards me. No doubt, the AssHowl sent a warrior to inform her of my location. "Lyla, oh, did I sleep walk to the training grounds of the shifters again?! Oh, my poor heart must have lead me here after I bid you goodnight." I say in the most convincingly innocent and confused tone I can muster.
"Nice try. Just another evening in being your protector. Now, you can either walk, or I can throw you over my shoulder back to the castle." She scolds. Turning to Gamma AssHowl she nods her head. "Thank you Gamma Landon for letting me know, found her quicker this time than usual." I can hear the quiet resentment in her tone.
"As always, delicate flowers like yourselves shouldn't be out past dark. Especially during shifter training. Both of you get back to your little sanctuary now, before the Lycan Kings men sniff you out." He says, the look of belittlement in his eyes, he must have picked up on Lyla's resentment.
"Princess Elra, if you would." Lyla turns to the side and points her fingers to move past her.
"Oh, you walk her flank?! I thought flowers protected each others side?" Landon snarks beside me. Lyla, seeing my expression, grabs my wrist and pulls me forward, knowing I could kill this bastard easily, all while she pretends the Gamma doesn't exist and practically drags me away.
He chuckles but makes no more comments as we depart. I give her a side glance, "As the leader of our Army, you could take him with a hand tied behind your back and not even pull your blade wings out. Yet, you let a measly Gamma, a sexist and prejudice one at that, speak so down onto us. Why?" I ask her as I get my wrist back from my protective Warrior.
"Shifters are not worth our time, nor anything else. They are beneath us, though they would think they are above us, because we have never shown them our true selves. Princess, you must continue to have them believe we are the things of fairy tales. It is our way, the only way." She says this as we enter our lands, we walk through what looks like a random willow in the middle of the redwood forest. As we both open our wings, stepping through the Willow Canopy, from the crevice in our backs that hide them, Lyla has Sharp Blood Red Wings, with black spike at the edges, a true Fairy Warrior.
Mine are pure white, with spikes the color of the ocean, pretty, but still incredibly deadly, we fly up into the willow, where my soon to be kingdom sits. Looking at it from here, you would think that we are the simple fairy's of the children tales, helping little babies soothe and helping the flowers grow. But what most of the hidden world doesn't know, is we are the deadliest creatures to have ever roamed this Earth, never daring to tell our secret, except for me. I want our secret known. I want the world to know what powers we wield. Not to fear us, but because of shifters like Landon, I want the respect for my fellow creatures.
"Lyla, when I become Queen and if I decide to let the truth be known of us, would you still stand by me?" I ask, keeping my tone casual.
"When you are Queen, I hope you make the best decision for our people, but no matter what, I have sworn my allegiance to you since we were both children." She says, her tone the same as always, serious.
"Lyla, we were children 250 years ago. You could change your mind after a couple of centuries." I say, musing aloud.
"Never, Elra. I know you and your heart. I would never change my mind." She pledges.
"ELRA SAPPHIRE! HOW DARE YOU GO AND WATCH THE SHIFTERS FIGHT, AGAIN! For the love of the Goddess my daughter. You'd think after all this time you would quit your foolish antics." My mother, coming from her bed chambers huffs. Curlers in her pristine pink hair, scoffing and huffing. She walks over to me, grabs my arms and looks me over. "I'd say my child, I assumed this time you had outted us for real. Good thing those shifters are idiots. They'd never believe us as warriors. Come now, we must scold you in private. Lyla, dear, thank you, but next time, a think a leash would work better for your little warrior toy you play with. Maybe that will help you not lose the Princess again?" My mother says, her eyes not leaving mine.
"Mother, it's not Lyla's fault…" I start to say as my mother starts dragging me away.
I turn to give a parting look to Lyla, as she mutters, slightly rolling her eyes "Just Another Night… trying to protect the princess."
