Chapter 2 - Queen Crystal

Elra

As my mother basically drags me through the halls, as if I was a child and not a 250 year old Fairy Warrior, a Princess. Soon to take over her kingdom.

"Elra, please sit, my dear daughter." Mother says as she pulls me into her study, releasing my hand. It's a massively open room that smells of jasmine, oak and vanilla, all around the walls are spiraling stairs, with different level of books, each organized by genre, year written. The first floor hold my Mothers and Fathers favorites, the second floor consistenting of every history book ever written, multiple in languages the human kind have long since abandoned, the third, a cumulative collection of humans version of fiction fantasy tales.

There is fireplace that stays lit all year round, with ancient trees that continue to burn, to the left of that are three burgundy soft, comfy reading chairs and a matching couch in the middle, all with black fleece blankets and pillows to sink into on each one. My mother loves to read and study, and when you live as long as we do, you can acquire every kind of book known to man and Beast kind alike. The red oak furnishings around the room have always brought peace and comfort to all of the Castle. My Mothers Sanctuary/Office.

As we take our seats on the plush chairs, I start. "Mother, I know what you are going to say, you're disappointed that I keep squandering my time trying to broach training with the shifters and the others in our hidden kingdoms." I sigh, feeling as though another argument with my mother is about to start. "I know you feel like I'm being a rebellious teenager.." I start before she interrupts me.

"Elra dear…" She sighs, and her eyes seem to show the dark circles of age around them. Her 483 years of age showing her true exhaustion. In the Fairy Kingdom, you can live to as young as 1600 years of age and as old as 3800, and even my mother is retiring from being the Queen rather soon, about 600 years to soon... "Since your Father died… Killed by the Witches who sought to drain him of his life essence… I'm scared you are going to follow his path. I know he wanted peace with all of the hidden world, to make alliances with them and to unify as one…. but its a dark place out there. Full of greed, mistrust and betrayal. I know you are a strong warrior, even stronger since you lost your Father 80 years ago. You have pushed yourself hard to fight, learn and make him proud of you, making sure you are going to be an even more amazing Queen for our kingdom. Elra, he would be SO proud of you, but honey, you can't trust those in the hidden world. Hell, I don't even know how many we can trust in our kingdom since…Since some were the ones that betrayed him and tricked him into going to…." She sighs even heavier, the weight of losing my Father so early in their lifetime, still clenching her heart.

Fairy's, much like the Wolves, get Mates for life. We can not marry, unless we find our Fated mate, unlike the Shifters, who can find Chosen Mates if they can't find their Fated ones. We stay alone and single, until we find our Fated. Some still choose physical release before finding their Fated Ones, but the majority of us don't, trusting the Moon Goddess. My Mother and Father were Fated and found each other around the time most Fairy's do, around their 150th year of life. Us turning 150 is the same as a Werewolf turning 18, a Lycan turning 30. Though I have yet to find my Fated one, and I should have a hundred years ago, I can't imagine how difficult this must be for my Mother.

"Mom, I know we can trust most in our Kingdom, and I know we have found some that have turned spy for the Dark Coven of the Sixth… But we are vigorously searching for the coven that killed my Father, The King of the Fairy's and your Fated One. Though, I do believe the closer we get to making alliances with the others in this hidden world… The easier it will be to stop the Coven. They are not just after Fairy's life essence, but also after Lycan's, Vampires and Fated Mate bonds among all the Kingdoms. Especially since we are supposed to find our Fated ones in every form we take through our Soul lives. It would make it easier to stop them by joining forces Mother. Father believed in unity, and though I understand your hesitation, I will be taking over as Queen in the coming weeks, and you have trained me, as Father did before you, on how best to run the Kingdom."

I sigh moving closer, grabbing her hand gently in mine, but my passion for this burning through my words. "I need your approval of this fight for unity, given at my Coronation, for I will be traveling through the Kingdoms, with a group of our Warriors, to start the Alliances, and to show our TRUE selves to the rest of the hidden world… Please Mother." I pause, tucking a strand of my blue hair behind my ear, taking a deep breath. "Please Queen Crystal, will you bless my mission?"

"Elra… My dearest Elra… How much you remind me of your father every day. Your passion, loyalty, empathy and kindness, so full of love for not just our kingdom but that of the entire hidden world. How can I say no? Especially since it seems as though your Fated One is not here in our Kingdom." She looks at our adjoined hands, sniffling. Her emerald eyes meeting my sapphire ones, "Elra Sapphire Gravestone, I will give my blessing for your search for Unity and Alliamce through our hidden world, if you promise to take a small army with you. If you promise, on the Sacred Oath of the Moon Goddess, you will stay strong willed and survive, and we will hold the Coronation AFTER your safe return."

"Mother, Queen Crystal Tulip Gravestone, I will take The Sacred Oath of the Moon Goddess that I will stay strong and will return home alive."

With that, my mother hugged me so tightly, life her hug would keep life into me….
