Chapter 1 - Life Simulation

"And…done!" Jaune clicked send, and now the fake transcript that he paid money for online was sent to the official registration site of Beacon.

Now, he has to wait for his registration to be accepted. Hopefully, it would; after all, if this didn't work out, he would have wasted a year of working hard doing those part-time jobs.

Those fabricated transcripts weren't cheap at all, and most importantly he doesn't want his dream to end before it could start!

As for his dream…well, some people might call it childish but he wanted to become a hero like his ancestors in the past.

And as their descendant isn't it only given that it's his job to regain the glory his family once had?!

Unfortunately, his family, especially his father, didn't want him to chase after his dream and the glory that his ancestors once had, saying that only fools with a death wish would follow such a thing.

What does he know about it?! It's not like he tried it himself. He'll show him that chasing his dream for glory isn't foolish!

While he was having an inner monologue, all of a sudden he heard a ringing sound in his head.

"W-wha-?!" Startled by the unexpected sound, he almost fell from the chair he was sitting at.

"Who are you?! C-come out! I might not look like it, but I know a bit of boxing. Don't think that I can't defend myself!" Jaune quickly put on a boxing stance that would give a professional boxer a wry look.

Because it was such a joke, as literally everything about it is embarrassing and full of holes.

Unfortunately for him, no one came out; instead, a transparent blue screen appeared directly at his face, making him instinctively scream like a little girl.

"Kyaaa!"

His voice was exceptionally loud, and it got the attention of his elder sister, making his way through his room.

"Little brother! Are you okay?!"

"T-there's something in front of me!" Jaune pointed at the transparent blue screen.

His sister stared at the place where his finger pointed at, unfortunately his sister couldn't see it at all, making her confused.

"What are you talking about? There's nothing there."

"H-huh..? But there is!" He insisted.

However, despite doing so, his sister couldn't see anything at all and could only give him an odd look before saying. "...hey you didn't take drugs right?"

"What are you saying?! Do I look like I would do drugs?!"

"I mean…teenage curiosity is a thing after all…"

"No, no, no! I didn't take any drugs at all!" Jaune shook his head in denial.

"Then you must be hallucinating; now that I took a closer look, you do have some eye bags; you must lack sleep." His sister is closer to inspecting him.

She was right on the money, he did lack sleep due to the fact that he's waiting for transcripts to arrive and also registering for Beacon's official site.

"... anyway, it's probably just the lack of sleep. You should rest right now lest you'll experience more hallucinations." After confirming it wasn't anything of a big deal, his sister finally decided to leave.

Jaune, on the other hand, didn't believe that it was due to the lack of sleep, but there was no way he could prove it after all; while he might be a little slow, he wasn't all that stupid.

This thing was only visible to him. It was quite apparent already, however, what the heck is this?

[ Text Simulation - 1 ]

[ Immersive Simulation - 0 ]

It literally doesn't explain anything, so he decided to try tapping the screen to see if it worked, and it did.

[ Would you like to start a Text Simulation? ]

[ Yes/No ]

Despite not really understanding the full scope of this thing, due to his curiosity, he couldn't help but press yes, and then the simulation started.

[ Please select 1 of the 3 talents before starting. ]

[ Cooking Prodigy (Common) - A genius when it comes to cooking, anything related to it might as well be a cakewalk to you. ]

[ Perfect Smile (Common) - You'll have a perfect smile that would attract anyone regardless of their respective genders. ]

[ The Last Of Us (Uncommon) - No matter what the circumstance is or how dire it may be, you'll be the last to die before eventually dying. ]

Jaune blinked at the sudden surge of information; he did not expect this at all; however, from what little he could understand from it, he had to choose a talent before starting whatever this simulation was.

Looking at the three choices, frankly, they're all attractive to him, but unfortunately, he could only pick one.

While the other 2 were only common, and the last one was uncommon, and his gamer senses instinctively wanted to pick this.

Not only is it useful in the long run, but it's also the only one that has a higher rating; without much thought, he picked The Last Of Us.

[ Text Life Simulation Starts..! ]

[ You're confused as to why this transparent blue screen suddenly disappeared. However, it didn't long for you to forget about it, remembering what your sister said about hallucinating due to the lack of sleep, and she may be right; after that, you went to sleep. ]

"Huh..? What is this?" Jaune said, a bit lost; regardless of his confusion, the text simulation continued.

[ After weeks of waiting, an email from Beacon Academy was sent to you, and as you received it, you were overjoyed as you were accepted as a student of the school despite your fake transcripts. ]

And finally, he understood what this thing was. "Don't tell me this thing can accurately show me my future in the form of text!"

Only then did he realize what it's called a Life Simulation because it could simulate his life in detail!

Upon this realization, he was overwhelmed with joy; after all, this kind of thing was literally overpowered!

Then he continued reading the text.

[ After receiving such wonderful news, you immediately told your parents and family about the letter of acceptance, and your family, especially your father,r, wasn't happy about it. ]

Seeing this, he frowned. He knew that his father didn't really want him to be a huntsman, so such a reaction was almost guaranteed.

[ Then, after that, your father told you to stop joking about it; after all, there's no way a prodigious huntsmen school would ever accept someone with no training; that's why he thought that you were joking about being accepted. ]

[ As you're about to show him the proof of the acceptance, however, you immediately realize that it wouldn't do anything good to you at all; after all, he would question you on how you were accepted in the first place, with no training at all. Not only that, he would prevent you from going to Beacon Academy as he wouldn't want you to go in the first place. ]

Jaune couldn't help but sigh at this, but also finding his future-self thoughts reasonable, he was correct. If he were to show his legitimate acceptance letter, there's no doubt that it would lead to questioning him about the fake transcripts and eventually stopping him from actually following his dream.

[ That's why, for the entire night, you kept your silence to this matter, and quickly time passed another month. It was time for you to leave and go to the Huntsmen Academy to fulfill your dreams. ]

[ But of course, you can't just leave abruptly as it would alarm your family and would be worried for your safety, especially your mother,, she's very, very protective of you, that's why you made an excuse of going to Vale experience work at a big city, while it may not be a great one, however, it is no doubt reasonable in the eyes of your family, after all, they knew that you worked part-time for an entire year, so it wasn't that strange for you to try and work at a bigger place. ]

[ With their blessing you managed to successfully go to Vale without them realizing your true intentions, although you felt a bit guilty about tricking them, but you have no choice as this was your chance to achieve your dreams and aspirations! ]

[ As everything was prepared, you went to the bullhead only to realize that it was the worst riding experience you'll ever have as you were airsick; during those few hours of flying in the air, you were holding your mouth in case you puked. ]

Jaune read this and became pale; he didn't know that he had motion sickness!

But then again, he had never really traveled on air before, and now, for the first time, he found out that he was simply not for the air.

And when he thought that it couldn't get worse

[ Without a warning, a massive Nevermore attacked the bullhead you're in, and the other passengers screamed in terror, including you to the mix. ]

[ "Brace for yourselves! I can't control it anymore!" When the pilot announced that everyone's fear amplified to the max. ]

[ It was those words that anyone doesn't want to hear while they're on air! ]

[ After a few minutes of the horror wreck, the bullhead crashed into the forest below. However, the horror didn't stop there as the Nevermore didn't leave and was still above the bullhead! Even if they survived the crush they're going to be this bird's breakfast! ]

Upon seeing this, he couldn't remain calm and paled in an instant; after all,, this was technically going to happen to him if he followed the text simulation.

[ But before you and the passengers became the Grimm food, unexpectedly the bullhead exploded! Killing all including the massive Nevermore! ]

[ But in such a crucial moment, your talent, The Last Of Us activated and despite all of the odds, you managed to survive as the last man of the tragedy. ]

Reading this, he couldn't help but drop his jaw; after all, it's absolutely impossible for someone to live in such a dire situation normally, but thanks to the talent he chose earlier, he miraculously survived!

He felt complicated, but he managed to survive, which caused him to feel a sense of relief. However, the death of the others made him guilty.

However, his relief didn't last long.

[ With some minor injury, you managed to get out of the burning transportation, still in a state of shock, you didn't realize something was growling behind you, but when you did it was already too late as you were pounded by a Beowolf crushing you to death with its sharp teeth. ]

[ You have died. ]

[ Text simulation ends. ]

By the end of it, he could only look at the results with his face filled with disbelief and shock.

Something I wrote because I couldn't get it out of my head. I originally wasn't going to publish this in public, but it's such a waste not to share.
