"Hey kid, wake up, hey, I'm talking to you."
.....-Excuse me.
I get up to give a seat to the elderly woman on the subway. I stand in front of the subway door. It's been less than four weeks since I got here. The last thing I remember was the darkness of my room, lying on my back, staring at my white ceiling, alone and quiet. That's when my eyes closed and I appeared in a dark place, but I wasn't in my room anymore. It was strange.
"NEXT STATION, CITY B"
It was summer and horribly hot. I was coming home from work from a nearby convenience store. Honestly, it doesn't matter. To be honest, I never cared about anything. Before I arrived, I felt that way too. I just felt useless, someone who will be an embarrassment to their family. When I see my mother, I just want to bow my head, and sometimes I just say, "I know you would have been better than me."
I walk through the subway station and honestly, I don't understand any Japanese. Even though it's hot, I still wear a thin hoodie so no one has to see me.
I walk toward the subway exit, and to be honest, it's a long walk to my destination.
"Why didn't I buy a juice inside?"
City B was quiet. It seems there hasn't been a kaijin attack these days. It's a good thing. I don't have to hear screams when I walk through these streets. My right arm is in my pocket, guarding the only cell phone I have, and in my left, I have a bag full of some supplies to make a good ramen.
"WE'RE IN CITY J, WHERE WE CAN SEE TWO HEROES IN THE EVENT OF A SERIOUS SITUATION. IT LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS ATTACKED THEM TO DEATH."
"That makes four cases this week. I don't think the kaijin could do something like this. This is strange."
I got off the subway at 4:00 pm and arrived in City Z at 6:00 pm. City Z, the only city where it's desolate and empty. Since it was announced as a risk zone, no one wants to live here. That's a good thing. Rent is cheap. I live in a five-story building. I walk in and see that the elevator is broken.
"Because I feel like they'll never come to fix it."
(KNOCK ON THE DOOR)
(SCREAMING) "I hate using the stairs. Those who don't come and fix this thing are lazy and scared."
I storm out and start up the stairs. The good thing is the light was working. I reach the fifth floor and take the spare key they gave me out of my pocket, carefully opening the door.
"I'm back."
