The good thing is that it's summer; I can sleep relaxed and uncovered. The apartment was small, but we had three bedrooms, so we could do whatever we wanted.
"I want to sleep, but it would be better to study."
I grab a candle and light it. I put it on my desk for temporary lighting.
"Let's see the Hero Association guide. There are 50 questions, and they're all for marking. It'll be easy."
When I was on question 25, I closed my eyes for a moment. When I opened them, the first light of the sun fell on my face. When I turned around, my first impression was seeing the guide covered in saliva.
"How disgusting."
I woke up, and the first thing I did was try to dry the saliva with a vacuum cleaner I bought last week, but I knew it would take a while. I left my room and saw breakfast on the table and Marci in the kitchen.
"Thanks, I really think you're spoiling me."
Marci just shakes her head, denying what I'd said.
"Today I'll work overtime at the supermarket. Maybe I'll get some money and be able to buy you some clothes; we don't have much."
Since we arrived here, we've been through a lot, and the money we got hasn't lasted much. I've always been a supporter, but since I arrived, I've learned what life is like without anyone giving me easy things; at least I have food, health, and a great teacher.
"Thanks for the food, it was delicious."
I get ready for work and grab my guidebook, so at least I can dry off a bit. I put on my sneakers and leave my apartment.
"I'm leaving now. I'll be back tonight."
It's always the same walk to the subway, I leave, walk all over City B, and arrive at 12 noon. On the subway, I tried to study the guidebook, at least to memorize some things, but it was complicated.
(THE SUBWAY STARTS TO SHAKE GENTLY; THE MOVEMENT GETS STRONGER AND STRONGER.)
I didn't understand what was happening, a tremor or an earthquake perhaps. I saw an old woman next to me and took her arm.
"It's okay, calm down, it was just a..."The subway and the tracks flew away; the last thing I saw were the people on the same subway I saw boarding with me, flying everywhere.
