I enter the apartment and leave my shoes on the wooden floor where the door is. I try to turn on the light with the switch, but nothing happens.
"That makes it three times this month."
I walk toward the small kitchen that's just off the living room; I knew she was making dinner, but I didn't think she'd know how to do it without the light.
"Marci, how's my favorite teacher?"
Before I came here, Marci was my first (friend/teacher), but more than that, she acts like my older sister.
"I brought ramen; it still needs to be made, but it's delicious."
She simply raises her arm and gives me a thumbs-up, approving of the idea of eating ramen. Something I didn't tell you is that Marci is mute. After making a quick, homemade ramen, we knelt on the living room cushions around a table, said our thanks, and tied.
(chewing) "I saw it on the news when I was passing through City B. They still haven't defeated the hero hunter, but he's already killed several B-class heroes."
He shakes his head, confirming that he also saw it when he went to buy candles."I'll call the electrician to fix the lights; the bad thing is they're afraid to come near this city."Marci laughs quietly. She smiles, knowing that what she said is funny and ridiculous; so far, no monsters have appeared in the city.
After dinner, Marci gets up from her pillow and takes a flyer off the shelf, handing it to J.
"I told you, I tried like three times and I always fail the written exam. Besides, I don't feel like I'm capable of being a hero; I'm useless at everything."
He hits me on the head to get me to react. When Joseph looks up, he sees Marci with an angry face, knowing that she hates it when he says that to himself.
"Okay, I'll try in the next election, but I can't promise anything."
I see her angry expression change to a smile.
"But you'll also take the exam, is that a deal?"
With an annoyed expression, she smiles and they shake hands, both agreeing to take the test on election day.
