Synopsis
A young man in an unforgiving world learns that true progress is only made through sacrifice. He learns that bad things happen to good people. How much is he willing to lose? How much does he stand to gain? This is a story of what i think a realistic journey through danmachi should be. This means that the mc will grow strong but not extremely rapidly and he will NOT become the strongest in 25 chapters. It also means that interactions between characters will be less anime like. It also means key events will be altered such as the timeframe of bells ascension. This is a moderate pace story so expect progress but not finishing the story in 100 chapters. This will not be a tragedy story despite what the synopsis suggests but that does not mean that it won't be dark Disclaimer I am not Indian and thus my interpretation of kali is almost entirely self made except from certain aspects such as her divinities.

Chapter 1 - Decrepit elfs and humble beginnings

"The second floor…. THE SECOND FLOOR!". flummoxed the rather stern advisor or should I say my rather stern advisor, leaned back, sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Listen I get that the 'thrill of the hunt' or whatever gets you animals exited but that's no reason, you as a rational being, should be swayed by your beastly nature". Really, I should be quite offended but standing by my principle of taking things in the best faith possible, I'd decided to take the racially charged comment as his worry for me instead. In fairness as decrepit, bastardly, old elf's go: this one was practically a saint.

Regardless of my silent musings the old elf continued, in a far firmer tone "you WILL get yourself killed if you continue like this" leaning forward and grasping his knuckles he muttered "honestly, second floor on the first dive, solo at that; maybe a psych eval should be arranged: Even better one for your entire Familia".

"Hey -!" I made to protest but was silenced by his withering glare. "Out with you I have enough stress as it is" he pointed to the door. I complied yet as I was about to pass through the door he spoke "I'm serious, the dungeon isn't a game; lady Fortuna may have favoured you today but continue as you are and it will catch up to you."

I simply nodded.
