Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Lina let out a cruel laugh as she saw the fear on Emrys' face, her eyes glowing with sadistic pleasure as she prepared to unleash her full power upon him.

Emrys tried to brace himself, but he was no match for Lina's overwhelming strength, and he crumpled to the ground, unable to move.

Lina continued her onslaught, her attacks becoming more and more brutal, while her friends ran off to find help, their footsteps fading into the distance.

Lina smirked at Emrys who was lying on the ground, barely conscious after her brutal attack.

"Come on, weakling," her demonic voice taunted. "Challenge me, if you have the courage. Show me that you're more than just a pathetic Bronze grade loser. I dare you." With a sinister laugh, Lina continued her boastful tirade.

"There's no one in this system who's tougher or higher grade than us, the Emerald Witches Cycle," she proclaimed arrogantly. "We're the most powerful and unbeatable witches in the land, and no one can stand against us. Hahaha!"

Emrys' body lay prone on the ground, his body trembling with pain and exhaustion. Every muscle and nerve in his body screamed with agony as he struggled to move away from Lina's powerful attacks.

"Please...stop..." he croaked weakly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I can't...take any more…"

Lina's eyes glowed with sadistic pleasure as she towered over Emrys, her voice filled with malice.

"This is your punishment," she declared, raising her hand as if casting a spell. "I will transform you into a pig. You will be nothing but a lowly animal, living in the dirt and filth, just as worthless as the Bronze grade you are",

Lina began to chant an ancient incantation, her eyes fixed on Emrys as he lay weak and helpless before her.

However, just as she was about to complete the spell, a strange and sudden disturbance occurred in the air around them, causing the room to shake violently.

Lina's spell faltered and dissipated, and she looked around in confusion, her concentration broken.

" What's happening?", her demonic voice rhetorically asked,

Lina's expression shifted from confusion to shock as she witnessed Emrys, who was previously lying weakened on the floor, suddenly stand before her, surrounded by a strange and powerful energy.

"What the-how is this possible?" Lina muttered, her eyes wide with disbelief. "He should be weakened and unable to move, how is he standing?"

With a sudden surge of energy, Emrys lifted his arm, pointing a finger directly at Lina. His eyes glowed an intense shade of blue as he focused his will and unleashed a powerful force in her direction.

Taken by surprise and unable to resist the force, Lina was slammed back against the wall, pinned there by the unexpected display of power from the once-weakened Emrys.

" How…is…this…possible?", Lina said with shock on her face,

Emrys, his body now infused with incredible strength and power, moved with lightning speed, pinning Lina to the ground. He loomed over her, his expression a mixture of both anger and determination.

Lina struggled beneath him, trying to wriggle free, but she was no match for his unexpected strength.

"What is this power?" she gasped. "You're not supposed to be this strong! You're just a Bronze grade!"

As he held Lina pinned to the ground, Emrys' voice took on a deep and authoritative tone, very different from his previous meek and submissive demeanor.

"Remember this lesson well, Lina," he said, his voice thick with newfound confidence. "Don't waste your powers on bullying the weak and defenseless. Use them for something good, for the betterment of others, not for your own twisted enjoyment."

Despite her defiant and arrogant nature, Lina found herself momentarily stunned and subdued by the authority in Emrys's voice. It was a tone she had never heard from him before, and it carried a weight that seemed to command her obedience.

In a moment of unexpected acquiescence, she found herself replying meekly, "Yes...I will not bully weaklings again."

Just as Emrys began to relish his victory over Lina, he heard the distant sound of footsteps rapidly approaching the library. It seemed that someone was coming to investigate the commotion.

Emrys noticed that the extraordinary power he had tapped into moments ago was beginning to leave him, and his body felt weak once again. Realizing that he was slowly returning to his previous state, he felt exhaustion wash over him, and before he could do anything, he fainted, collapsing limply to the floor.

As she watched Emrys collapse to the ground, Lina's mind raced with confusion and disbelief.

"What in the world just happened?" she murmured to herself. "He was so powerful, and then suddenly, he just...fainted. It doesn't make any sense!"

With Emrys unconscious on the floor, Lina found herself growing increasingly dizzy and disoriented, the events of the past few minutes leaving her more baffled than ever.

As Lina's friends hurried back with the head witch into the library, their eyes widened in shock at the sight before them. There, in the middle of the room, lay both Emrys and Lina, both unconscious and sprawled out on the floor.

"What on earth happened here?!" one of them exclaimed, running to Emrys' side and checking for signs of life.

" Thank goodness, he's still breathing", One of Lina's friends Zira said,

"Take them both to the sickbay IMMEDIATELY," the head witch ordered, gesturing for the friends to quickly lift the unconscious teens onto makeshift stretchers,

After Emrys and Lina were taken to the sickbay, the Head Witch was left to investigate the library for any clues as to what had transpired. As she walked around the room, her keen intuition and magical senses picked up on something odd.

"This energy... It's very strange," the Head Witch murmured, her brow furrowing in concentration. "There was a massive disturbance here, that much is clear. But what could have caused it...?"

{ AT THE SICK BAY}

As news of the strange incident in the library spread throughout the academy, Sola heard of it and was immediately filled with concern. Without a moment's hesitation, he bolted towards the sickbay, his heart pounding in his chest with worry.

He burst into the room to see Emrys resting weakly in the bed, pale and tired but thankfully alive. Sola hurried to his side, placing a gentle hand on Emrys's shoulder.

"Emrys, are you alright?" he asked

urgently, his voice filled with worry,

Emrys' voice was faint and slurred due to the exhaustion he felt, but he did his best to speak clearly.

"I...I can't remember exactly," he said, his eyes half-lidded. "But I do recall that Lina was upset with me. She was about to...to cast a spell on me...and that's what happened",

Sola listened intently, his concern growing. "A spell...on you, why?" he asked, his voice tight with worry, Emrys took a deep breath, continuing his story with difficulty.

"I said something that upset her," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean for it to be offensive, but it must have struck a nerve. She became furious, and...and..."

He trailed off, his face twisting in pain as he tried to recall the next part,

Sola's expression darkened as he listened to Emrys's story, fear and concern etched on his face.

"I've warned you, Emrys. I've told you that if Lina gets too upset, she loses control, and you end up getting hurt," he said, his voice low and serious. "I was honestly expecting to find you far worse off than this with how furious you said she was. You're lucky you're even conscious right now",

Emrys's eyes cast down, remorse lacing his voice as he recounted the next part of the story.

"I tried...I tried apologizing to her," he whispered. "I knew I'd said the wrong thing and that I should have been more careful with my words. But...but she was so furious, beyond reason. It didn't matter what I said or did, she just kept getting angrier and angrier",

Sola nodded, a hint of a grim smile on his face.

"You're lucky she didn't cast any spells on you, or worse," he agreed. "The members of the Emerald Witches Cycle are notorious for their powerful magic. Even a minor spell from them could have been devastating, especially in Lina's state."

He sighed, his expression darkening. "But I agree, she could have also easily snapped your limbs like twigs in her rage."

Emrys felt a shiver run down his spine as he thought of what could have happened had Lina succeeded in her spell.

"Yeah...I'm thankful she didn't turn me into a pig," he said shakily, a hint of terror in his voice, "I've heard tales of the Emerald Witches' transformation spells. I'd look ridiculous in hooves, and the smell would be horrible," he added, trying for a weak joke.

Sola gently patted Emrys on the shoulder, his expression serious.

"You should rest up before school ends for the day," he said, a hint of protectiveness in his voice. "I'm going back to the training class. Please, try to stay out of trouble, okay?" He gave Emrys' shoulder a reassuring squeeze before reluctantly making his way out of the sickbay, heading back towards the training area.
