Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9: THE BRONZE STUDENT IS NOT WHO WE THINK HE IS

( At Lite Magical Academy)

Two weeks had passed since the incident in the library, and Lina's friends, concerned etched on their faces, gathered around her.

"Lina," Zira gently said, "since the incident in the library, we've noticed you've been different. You seem distracted and distant,"

Lina, her usual composure slipping, admitted, "It's true, I've been feeling off lately. The incident at the library has really thrown me. I can't shake off the feeling of unease."

Nie, her gaze filled with sympathy, spoke up, "Lina, I understand your regret over losing control, but please know it wasn't your fault. Anyone in your position would've felt the same way. Besides, the person who should be feeling traumatized is the bronze student, not you."

Lina's friends nodded in agreement, offering their support. "We're here for you," one reassured her.

As Nie mentioned the bronze student, Lina's eyes widened in fear, and her face paled. The memory of what happened in the library flooded back into her mind, and she felt an overwhelming sense of unease grip her.

Her friends noticed her sudden change in demeanor and exchanged worried glances. "Lina? Are you alright?" one of them asked hesitantly.

Lina's voice shook as she spoke, her words coming out in a tremble.

"The...the bronze student," she managed to say. "He's not who we think he is."

Her friends exchanged baffled looks, their concern deepening. "What do you mean?" one asked gently.

Lina's laughter lacked humor, a hint of frustration, and disbelief in her voice.

"He has power beyond his grade," she continued. "A power that overpowered me, an emerald grade."

Her friends looked at her, their faces registering both shock and curiosity. "But... how?" one managed to stammer, utterly stunned,

" The bronze student overpowered me effortlessly", Lina said, Lina's friends, not fully understanding the seriousness of her words, laughed nervously, thinking she was exaggerating.

"You probably imagined it," one of them said, still chuckling. "It was just a bronze grade, after all. How could he possibly overpower you? You're an elite emerald grade",

"No, I'm serious!" Lina insisted, her voice tinged with desperation. "When we fought, I felt like I was pinned to the ground by a sorcerer. I couldn't move."

Her friends exchanged uneasy glances, noticing the sheer conviction in her words. "Lina..." one ventured hesitantly, "are you sure you didn't hit your head or something?"

Lina's frustration mounted, and she lashed out, "Why can't you guys believe me? I'm telling the truth!"

Her friends looked at her, a mix of disbelief and concern etched on their faces. "Lina, it's just... It's a bit hard to believe," one said gently. "A bronze student with sorcerer-level power, it's unheard of."

Zira, a serious expression on her face, interjected, "Besides, sorcerers are no more. After the last battle ended centuries ago. A bronze student can't possess sorcerer-like power."

Lina's friends nodded in agreement, their disbelief deepening. "It's true," one said gravely. "Sorcerers are extinct. The idea that a mere bronze student can possess that kind of power is utterly absurd."

Ina chimed in, her words firm and factual. "Lina, remember, sorcerers are no longer in existence after the last battle between the dark dumas and the sorcerers. The dark dumas wiped them all out. It's been centuries since their extinction."

Lina frowned, her frustration growing. "I know all that," she replied impatiently. "But what I experienced was real. I didn't make it up!"

Zira, ever the pragmatic one, posed a logical question, "Let's assume what you are saying is true. How do you intend to prove it?"

Her friends, their skepticism still evident, looked at Lina with anticipation. "Yeah, how are you going to prove it?" one questioned. "Claiming something so outlandish without any proof won't make us believe you."

Lina, determined to prove her claim, proposed a plan.

"I'll try casting a spell on him again," she said stubbornly. "You four will hide and observe. Then you'll see I'm telling the truth."

Her friends exchanged doubtful glances, but agreed to her plan, albeit reluctantly. "Alright, we'll watch," one reluctantly replied. "But we hope this won't bite us in the ass."

As Lina and her friends continued their conversation, Nie suddenly caught sight of something in the distance and pointed toward the field.

"Look, there's the bronze student and Sola," she exclaimed, gesturing towards the direction of the field.

Lina and her friends turned their attention to the mentioned individuals, their eyes following the direction of Nie's gesture. They saw Emrys and Sola indeed walking together, heading towards the field.

Nie nudged Lina, a sense of urgency in her voice. "So, are you going to prove it to us?"

Lina's gaze followed Emrys and Sola as they continued towards the field. "Yes, I am," she affirmed stubbornly. "Let's go."

Her friends exchanged uncertain glances but knew they had to follow Lina regardless. "Alright, let's go then," one said resignedly. "This better be worth it."

{ In the field}

I'm so sorry about your parents," he said gently. "I can't imagine what you're going through right now."

Emrys looked at Sola, touched by his kind words. "Thank you," he said softly. "It's been tough, but I'm trying to stay strong."

Emrys shared his experience, his eyes lighting up with excitement. "You know what the amazing part was? I was saved by a higher grade known as the Gold grades," he said, his voice filled with awe.

Sola's eyes widened in surprise and amazement. "Really?" he asked, his curiosity piqued. "The Gold grades saved you? That's incredible."

As Sola absorbed Emrys's words, a hint of awe and admiration crossed his face.

"You know, I've always wanted to be in the presence of the Gold grades," he admitted with a hint of longing. "They're considered the best wizards in the magical world. I can't believe you were actually saved by them."

Sola, a note of fascination in his voice, added, "The Gold grades are known for their unique abilities, particularly when it comes to defense and cooperation. They work together seamlessly to fend off any threat that comes their way."

Emrys nodded in agreement, his admiration for the Gold grades deepening. "They're impressive," he agreed. "It's not just their individual power, but their ability to work together that truly amazed me."

Sola nodded in agreement, his eyes gleaming with admiration. "And you know what else is interesting? Both the emerald witches' cycle and the gold grade wizards are renowned for their proficiency in creating powerful shields. Their mastery over defensive magic is unparalleled."

Emrys' eyes widened with awe. "I can only imagine the level of skill they possess," he said, his voice tinged with reverence. "No wonder they're considered the best in their respective fields."

Emrys' curiosity piqued, he turned to Sola, his brow furrowed in contemplation. "You said the emerald grade is the highest currently in the magical world," he began, his gaze fixed on Sola. "But how is that possible?."

Sola nodded sagely, his expression thoughtful. "Yes, that's correct," he confirmed. Sola continued to share his knowledge, his voice tinged with a hint of excitement.

"The reason why the emerald grade is higher is that they possess a unique energy that the gold grade can't match. But beyond the emerald grade, there is only one grade that surpasses it - the Ruby grade."

Emrys' eyes widened in astonishment. "The Ruby grade, you say?" he repeated, his voice filled with awe. "But you said it no longer exists, right?"

Sola nodded solemnly, his expression tinged with sadness.

"Yes, that's true," he confirmed. "The Ruby grade has been gone for decades now, ever since the last great battle."

Emrys' voice held a note of determination as he declared, "After witnessing that incredible battle between the gold grade and the evil force, I really wish to be like them. I want to be strong enough to protect and defend those who can't defend themselves."

Sola listened intently, his expression softening with empathy. "That's a noble goal," he said gently. "But you know, it's not just about strength alone. It takes more than that to truly defend and protect others."

Sola's voice took on a firm tone as he advised Emrys, "First, you need to focus on working harder and graduating from the bronze grade to the silver grade. Just like me, I'm constantly pushing myself to become stronger and climb the ranks to reach the gold grade."

Emrys listened intently, absorbing his words. "I understand," he replied, his resolve strengthened. "I'll have to work hard and climb the ranks step by step, from bronze to silver, and eventually to gold."

Emrys and Sola were having a pleasant conversation when, abruptly, Lina appeared before them. Her sudden presence took Emrys and Sola by surprise.

"Oh, look who it is," Lina said in a mocking tone, her gaze fixed on Emrys.

Emrys and Sola became terrified seeing Lina in front of them.
