After applying to several major companies consecutively, Laura Quincy felt exhausted both physically and mentally. She drove towards her apartment, eager to go back and rest.
Suddenly, a small boy appeared out of nowhere on the road ahead, startling her so much that she quickly hit the brakes. Damn! Did she forget to check her horoscope before going out today?
Once the car stopped, she hurriedly opened the door and walked over to the little boy. "Little guy, are you feeling unwell anywhere? How about I take you to the hospital?"
The boy looked up at her and said in a childish voice, "I'm not trying to scam you."
Only then did Laura take a good look at this little boy. His eyes were as bright as black grapes, and his long eyelashes looked like a row of small fans. His fair, tender cheeks seemed so pinchable… Hmm…
"...Little guy, what's your name?" Laura asked with a gentle smile, wanting to avoid any trouble.
"My name is Just...in." (Daddy said not to casually tell strangers my name.)
"What? Mars?"
Laura picked him up, ruffling his messy curls, her smile radiant, "Wow! So you're a little guy from Mars! No wonder you suddenly landed in front of my car!"
Perhaps it was the dazzling smile of the woman in front of him, or for another reason, he changed the words he originally wanted to say, pouting and pointing at his leg, "My leg seems a bit uncomfortable."
Upon hearing his soft voice, Laura felt her heart melt, "Then let's go to the hospital now."
Justin Hawthorne curved his lips slightly, "Okay."
Before reaching the hospital, Laura hurriedly called her doctor friend, Nina Pierce, "Which floor and room is the best pediatrician in your hospital? I'll head straight up there via the elevator."
Nina was stunned for a few seconds, "What do you mean? Where did you get a child?"
Laura felt it was hard to explain to Nina right now, so she just laughed it off, "I'll explain when I see you! I'm driving, gotta go."
Thankfully, it wasn't far to the hospital, about ten minutes or so. After parking, Laura got out of the car first, then opened the rear door, asking in an inquiring tone, "Little Mars, your leg is uncomfortable. How about I carry you up?"
Always having disliked unfamiliar women getting close, Justin Hawthorne surprisingly didn't refuse her offer, "Okay."
Being held by an unknown woman for the first time, Justin didn't find it repulsive or disgusting, instead, he liked being with her. Perhaps it was because she didn't put on airs! Unlike those women around Daddy who were always trying to please him, so annoying!
After walking a few steps, Laura suddenly thought of something, "Little guy, you've been out by yourself for a while, won't your parents worry? Want to call home?"
Justin's bright eyes immediately dimmed, "No! Daddy is very busy. He leaves me at home alone every day, I don't want to deal with him!"
Laura made an understanding "Oh" sound and didn't ask further. Though she found the little boy adorable, she wasn't interested in prying into others' privacy.
Meanwhile, back at The Hawthorne Estate, it was chaotic like ants on a hot pan. Little Master Mars, the old man's most beloved little grandson, was unexpectedly missing!
Butler Forbes quickly gathered all the servants attending to the little master today for a thorough questioning.
"The little master said he was too bored at home and wanted to go out for a walk. Then he found an excuse to ditch us all after going out…"
