Swish swish' the air around Wesley was being cut by his sword as he attacked the oncoming three beasts. Wesley had started to regret as to why he had decided to fight in these narrow cave tunnels.
'thank the heavens I can see in these dark tunnels' earlier on when still with his team, they had stumbled into a dark tunnel, Desker and the rest of his brothers could not see a thing without a source of light but for him, he could see clearly though not as much. He had been surprised at the time but this is what he was relying on to fight these beasts in dark mine tunnels.
The tunnels were dark and scraggy, the only good thing about them was that he would not be besieged by a lot of beasts.
He could fight a few of them at a time.
The tunnels had stopped looking like mine tunnels a while ago, they now seemed like some animal had decided to continue burrowing into the ground and use them as pathways.
The longer he fought and moved forwards, the stronger the beasts became but this was good for him since he could harness more of his strength and also grow his combat awareness.
'boom' he kicked one of the beasts and slashed its head off. The remaining two growled in anger and rushed towards him with claws raised. He side stepped and knocked one down with a punch.
The third beast thinking Wesley was distracted jumped up and opened its jaws to bite him.
'hmph, you think I can't see you' he snorted, turned swiftly and impaled his entire sword into its belly. Gathering force in his hand, he cut its belly open and the sword went up to its hind leg almost cutting it off.
It let out a shriek in pain, fell down and stopped struggling.
'now for you' he turned and stared at the remaining beast. The beast growled in fear and took a step back. It leaned on its haunches as if ready to strike but what came next made Wesley widen his eyes in surprise.
It shook its body and bolted away from him. 'huh'
Wesley took after it after a momentary pause. They both ran into the winding connecting tunnels until Wesley felt like the tunnels open up more. They were becoming wider.
'where is this beast going' he asked himself in wonder. Since he did not want to lose it, held his sword like a javelin and threw it towards the beast.
'swoosh' the sword broke through the air and with a sickening crunch as the sword went through the beats body.
The immense force of the sword pushed it forward and until it got blocked by the walls of the tunnel.
'phew' he sighed out in relief after defeating the beast. Wesley walked to the shriveling beast and noticed that his surroundings were pretty different from the normal tunnel walls, there was a faint light coming off the walls.
This light illuminated the area and also showed him a shocking scene, in front of him about a few meters ahead were mole rats sleeping. The area looked like a small cavern and the rat like beasts were using it as a resting place.
What shocked him more was that due to the sound of him killing the earlier beast, some of the beasts had started to awaken.
'i am dead' he thought as fear shot up his spine.
Wesley picked up his sword not minding about the bead and like a startled bird, ran backwards from where he came from .
One of the waking beats saw this and let a blood curdling screech. When Wesley heard this sound, he knew he was going to fight for his life since these beasts had an annoying trait, they never gave up and knew how to burrow easily into the ground. They could attack you from any side since he was in a tunnel more over in the ground. This was their domain which was the most worrisome part.
'hmm,' he felt the ground vibrate, a claw came out from the side of the tunnel towards his face, he punched it back and continued to run, only a fool wound stop and fight the beasts at this time.
'swish, swish,' he could hear the beasts closing in on him as their claws hit the ground and made scratchy noises.
'aaaah' Wesley shouted in anger and frustration when he saw some beasts had burrowed in front of him trying to cut him off. He met them head on and with a flurry of clashes of swords and claws, the fight was on.
Wesley would kill if he could and continue running and if he could not, he would just injure the beasts by cutting off their legs.
'Lets see whether you can burrow without claws' he thought sarcastically.
But as Wesley ran and fought, he did not realize that the tunnel he wan in was big enough to fit his entire body of four meters and the worst thing, the beasts had stopped chasing him as if they feared to cross an invisible boundary.
Only the few beasts that were entangled with him had continued into the tunnel.
With the last swing of a sword, he killed the last beast and panted like a dog but as he calmed down, he noticed the other beasts pacing growing at him from a few meters away, they were just a stone throw away but Wesley noticed the fear in some of their eyes.
'This is bad' he was not happy the beasts had stopped chasing him, he was actually more afraid.
He turned around and noticed his current situation was not so good.
'oh my heavens' he whispered out a curse as his entire body froze in primordial fear.
