(so sorry about the delay, had an emergency to take care of but will resume normal updates of chapters, expect two chapters tomorrow)
Hook, hang, point, lift, stab, sweep, and slash. No matter how intricate a sword technique is, it cannot deviate from these seven actions. For two whole days, Wesley had been practicing new sword techniques because only techniques that he created would bring out his true strength.
So he had been practicing from the foundations and due to his epiphany or enlightenment before, it was going well for him.
The only drag was that he needed to keep a cautious eye on his surrounding since he was practically a prisoner.
'phew' he let out a breath in satisfaction and stopped waving his sword. 'the sword moves have started to take shape' he thought and turned to Grog.
'when do you think these beasts will come to get us.' Wesley asked Grog. For these two days, they had become kind of acquaintances but of course Wesley had not told him his true name, just a pseudonym name 'lesly' and if they ever got out, Wesley would bet his life on it, they would not connect this name to his true self.
'I have never seen one person so eager for death'
'I just want to see what they really need us for because standing from my side, these beasts lack control but the one I saw has a mind of its own'
'I propose two theories, either they have gained sentience or someone is controlling them, and that doesn't bode well for us'
'What is the level of the strongest beast in this lair.' he questioned Grog
'I believe in the second warrior level, late sensing realm' Grog did not know why he felt he could talk and answer this boy. Grog felt the boy's confident aura and lack of fear like the rest of them had 'may be that is why I defer to him, he looks like even if the heavens fall, he would not die.'
'May be I am just day dreaming due to my injuries and hunger' he pondered quietly.
Even though warriors could go without food for a while, he had been trapped in the mine tunnels for all this while. His bodily functions were declining very fast.
'hmm, I have a technique that can be used by four warriors to deflect and seriously injure a sensing realm warrior''
'Are you serious, if its true then we can survive this ordeal' one of the warriors who had been listening to them got up and stood in font of Wesley. There was a shining light in his eyes that told Wesley that this warriors was just hanging on to a thread.
'If they only patrol in singles, then we can first injure or kill the strongest beast and then fight off the rest'
Grog was hesitant to believe him and when Wesley saw the hesitation in their eyes, he pulled out the patterned swords.
'If we pour our spiritual aura into these swords, we can definitely deliver a huge blow to these beasts.'
When the rest of the warriors saw these swords, they laughed joyously in happiness because they saw hope in leaving this place.
Patterned swords or weapons came with inbuilt techniques and they were used by mostly third level warriors.
'This boy has a great background and if I play my cards right, I can avoid the city lord when I get out'
If Wesley heard what Grog was thinking, he would roll his eyes and laugh. Since he met him, he would do everything in his power to make Grog survive since he still needed answers from him.
'We shall attack when another beast comes and pray hard it is the strongest beast that comes at that time.' Wesley said as he sat down next to Grog. 'so please tell me, why is the city lord looking for you?' he asked him with a careless look on his face. Wesley wanted to portray a person who did not care about the city lord to Grog, that is why he put on his careless face.
When Grog heard this, he went utterly still. He turned to Wesley and saw his face which prompted him to quietly sigh and put on an aggrieved look.
'ummm...'
…...............
A few days prior when Wesley was fighting off the mole rats, the city lord had led a warrior party to do a sweep in the mines. This sweep was intended to kill off most of the dangerous beasts since he was going to be receiving visitors soon.
Brune did not want to leave a bad impression on them. Surprisingly he had moved out with most of the leaders in the city including Frost and the sisters of the seeker organization.
They had fought hard as they continued deeper into the mines and by a stroke of luck or divine fortune, they missed Wesley by a tunnel. They passed each other without their knowledge as they were in different tunnels, one was running out but the other were going in deeper. The team that was fighting the beasts deeper into the mines still crossed paths with the mole rats which had been scared off by the beast that had captured Wesley.
At this moment when the city lord was happy that he had at least reduced the numbers of the mutant beasts and Grog had started telling a story, a dark black light flashed in Frost's eyes.
