In his new form, a huge, red-furred ape with a powerful body, every move Goku made carried terrifying energy. Even through the crystal ball, the overwhelming pressure of his Super Saiyan 4 power could be felt.
"Wh-what is this?!"
"C-could this be… another stage of Super Saiyan?!"
Kibito Kai stared at Goku's new form in shock. This power didn't even seem human anymore.
At that moment, Goku, as if sensing their gaze, lifted his head and glanced at the crystal ball.
Just that look made Kibito Kai's heart pound. His body froze, and his soul felt crushed under the weight of Goku's aura.
"This really is a Super Saiyan," the Old Kai muttered, stroking his beard. His usually playful face turned serious. "The form of the Saiyans from the ancient times… I never thought I'd see it reappear in Son Goku."
As a Kai from fifteen generations ago, his knowledge ran deep. But even he didn't know whether to fear this or celebrate it. Was the return of such ancient Saiyan power a blessing… or a curse?
Meanwhile… in a higher dimension.
A massive temple stood in the center of space, larger than even the Sacred World of the Kais. This was the Realm of the Gods of Destruction.
Here lived Beerus, the God of Destruction, and his attendant — the angel Whis.
With Beerus fast asleep, Whis had nothing better to do than snack on sweets while watching the universe through his staff.
Suddenly, the crystal orb at the tip of his staff flashed.
"Hm?" Whis raised an eyebrow. "That's unusual. The staff only reacts to major events in the universe."
He tapped it, and an image appeared — Goku, in his giant ape form, evolving into Super Saiyan 4.
"Oh my… that's the Saiyan who defeated Frieza, isn't it?" Whis said in surprise. "To think he's reached this level in just a few short years… This power is rare, even across the entire universe."
But soon his smile faded into a thoughtful frown.
"This world… has changed."
Whis knew more than anyone — past, future, even the threads of fate. According to the universe's natural course, Goku was never supposed to unlock this form.
And yet, here it was.
By breaking his limits, Goku had raised the standard of the universe itself.
Whis chuckled softly, glancing toward Beerus' chamber. "Hehe… Lord Beerus may have an interesting rival waiting for him when he wakes up."
Back on the asteroid.
Super Saiyan 4 Goku stood tall, his sharp golden eyes scanning the endless void of space.
His body, his senses, his instincts — all had been heightened. And he could feel it. Someone, somewhere, was watching him.
"…This presence… is it King Kai? Or maybe the Supreme Kai? No… not them."
Goku frowned. "Strange… Then who could it be?"
After a moment of thought, he shook his head. "Nah, doesn't matter right now."
Canceling his transformation, his body shrank back down to normal. Still, he could feel his blood boiling with energy.
"Man, my power's gone up a ton. Heh, even without Super Saiyan 4, I feel way stronger than before!"
He grinned, then placed two fingers to his forehead. Locking onto Chi-Chi's ki back on Earth, he vanished.
Earth — Mount Paozu.
At the same time, Chi-Chi's temper was at its peak.
"GOKU!!" she yelled, arms crossed. "Running off to train again, while the farm work piles up?! Do you think food just appears out of nowhere?!"
Gohan and Goten stood to the side, sweating nervously. Neither dared to interrupt their mother in this state.
All they could do was silently pray for their dad.
Just then, Goku reappeared with Instant Transmission. "Hey, Chi-Chi! I'm back!"
The moment he saw her face, his instincts screamed at him. A bead of sweat ran down his cheek.
"You… still… dare… to come… back?!" Chi-Chi's voice trembled with rage, every word like a punch.
"Eheh… Chi-Chi… I-I can explain…" Goku started nervously, scratching the back of his head.
But the fiery glare in her eyes told him one thing — talking his way out of this wasn't happening.
After five minutes of Chi-Chi yelling, and with Goku bowing his head and admitting he was wrong, her anger finally cooled down. She shoved the rest of the farm work at him.
Goku didn't dare argue and just nodded. If I say no right now, I'll probably go hungry tonight, he thought.
He quickly changed into his work clothes, hopped on the tiller, and started plowing the field. But after a while he frowned.
"This machine's way too slow… there's gotta be a faster way," Goku muttered, his eyes drifting toward Gohan, who was standing nearby.
Suddenly, he grinned. He had an idea.
Stopping the tiller, he jumped over and landed in front of his son.
"Huh? Dad?" Gohan blinked, looking confused.
"I just thought of a better way to plow this land. But I'll need your help, Gohan," Goku said with his usual carefree smile.
Although surprised, Gohan couldn't refuse his father's request. "Alright, Dad," he nodded.
…
Soon, the two stood in an open area. Everywhere they looked, the land still needed to be cleared.
"Using machines would take forever," Goku said, cracking his knuckles. "But if we use our power… we could finish in minutes."
Gohan hesitated, his mouth twitching a little. "Dad… are you sure about this? If we lose control, we'll blow up the whole mountain…"
Goku just laughed. "But it's the fastest way, right? And besides… I wanna see how strong you've gotten, Gohan." He slipped into a fighting stance.
Gohan sighed. Since Majin Buu's defeat two years ago, he hadn't trained much. Most of his focus had gone to his studies. His power had dropped a lot. Still, his father was serious… and he couldn't back down.
"Okay, Dad!" Gohan shouted, his aura exploding around him. His power flared so much that Baozi Mountain itself trembled. Blue-white lightning sparked as he pushed into his Ultimate form—though not as strong as it had been two years ago.
"I'm coming, Dad!" Gohan's eyes lit with determination as he charged forward.
"Come on!" Goku grinned, not even powering up, and raised his hand.
Gohan's punch—full strength—slammed toward him. But Goku caught it with one hand, redirecting the force so it spread into the ground instead of hitting him.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The land around them exploded in shockwaves, plowed instantly by the raw energy.
Not stopping, Gohan unleashed a flurry of attacks. Punches, kicks, one after another. But to Goku's trained eyes, every move was full of openings. He dodged, blocked, and countered effortlessly—then finally landed a kick that sent Gohan flying back.
"Urgh!" Gohan skid across the dirt, clutching his stomach before forcing himself to stand.
"Your reflexes are way slower than before," Goku said seriously. "Even if the world's peaceful, you can't slack off on training. When danger comes, it'll be too late to regret it."
Deep inside, Goku's feelings were complicated. Gohan had more potential than any other Saiyan. In his past life, if Gohan hadn't given up training, maybe things would have turned out differently in that final battle against the Shadow Dragons.
Reborn in this world, Goku didn't want to see Gohan waste his talent again.
Hearing his father's words, Gohan stayed silent for a moment. Truth was, he did want to be stronger. He wanted to surpass even his father someday. But he also had studies and his mother's expectations weighing on him.
Noticing his hesitation, Goku softened. "Don't worry about what I just said, Gohan. I won't force you. Your path's your own to decide."
But Gohan clenched his fists, his eyes sharpening. "Dad… I'll do both. I'll become the scholar Mom wants me to be, and the warrior you want me to be. I'll prove I can handle it!"
Goku smiled. "That's enough for me. But for now—our work isn't done. Keep attacking!"
"Right!!" Gohan roared, powering up even further. His aura surged, shaking the ground again. He gathered energy in one hand, compressing it into a glowing sphere, and hurled it toward his father.
Seeing this, Goku instantly charged his own ki ball to meet it.
The two blasts collided.
BOOOOM!
The sky split with light, shockwaves tearing through the air as father and son's powers clashed across Baozi Mountain.
