Even Goku himself didn't realize that when he mastered Super Saiyan 4, he had opened the floodgates of his Saiyan bloodline. The amount of hidden potential inside him was bottomless.
Even for someone like Old Kai, unlocking Goku's potential only lasted three hours before he was completely drained. Any more, and the effect would be too small — nowhere near as good as Goku's own training.
"Thank you, Old Kai." Goku stood up, clenching his fists as he felt his Saiyan blood boiling inside him. The bottleneck he'd been stuck at was finally loosening.
"Hey, don't go crazy while I'm still standing here!" Old Kai panicked when he noticed Goku about to let loose his power.
The last time he unlocked Gohan's potential, he got blown away by the shockwaves. This time, he wasn't taking chances. He quickly ran far back, keeping a safe distance.
Seeing Old Kai had moved, Goku smiled, then powered up without hesitation.
In an instant, his golden aura exploded upward, a beam of light tearing through the sky of the Kaioshin Realm. The pressure shook the world. When the light calmed, Goku stood there in his wild, red-furred Super Saiyan 4 form.
The power boost from Old Kai's ritual wasn't massive, but it was real — his SSJ4 had grown stronger, and the bottleneck he had felt for so long was showing cracks.
(So that's it… unlocking my potential alone won't break the wall for Super Saiyan 4. I'll still need to train hard, push my base power, and take it one step at a time…) Goku thought, already planning his next move.
Now that Old Kai had done all he could, the rest was up to Goku's own training. As for the new "god power" cultivation method, he'd save it for later — maybe even mix it into SSJ4 to push the form further.
Releasing his transformation, Goku walked back over to Old Kai and bowed his head.
"Thank you, Old Kai."
"Hmph, don't mention it. Just remember our deal," Old Kai said, waving him off.
"Got it. I'll be going now then. Thanks again, Old Kai… Supreme Kai." Goku smiled, then used Instant Transmission and disappeared back to Earth.
Old Kai stroked his chin as he watched him vanish. Something about Goku felt… different. Like he was both the same person and not.
"Maybe I'm just overthinking…" he muttered.
Earth – Mount Paozu
Goku appeared back at home. This trip to the Kaioshin Realm had been huge — his potential unlocked, and a new training method about divine power. But Goku wasn't rushing into it. First, he needed to push past the wall of SSJ4 the natural way.
He knew training couldn't be forced. Impatience only slowed things down. Better to keep training steadily and let the breakthrough come when the time was right.
So, for now, he went back to normal life — working the fields with his cultivator, plowing the land.
Meanwhile – Vegeta's side
Vegeta was acting strange. For the first time in years, he wasn't locked inside the gravity chamber.
A year ago, he broke through Super Saiyan 3. Since then, he trained harder than ever, pushing himself nearly nonstop. Other than eating and sleeping, every second was spent in the gravity room Bulma rebuilt for him.
Now, after a full year of intense training, Vegeta had mastered SSJ3 completely. The time had come.
Smirking, he stretched out his senses until he locked onto Goku's familiar energy.
"So… you're finally back, Kakarot." Vegeta's smirk turned into a devilish grin. With a sudden burst of power, he shot off at full speed toward Mount Paozu.
Back at Goku's place
Goku was still in work clothes, driving the cultivator across the fields.
"Man, it'd be great if there was a faster way to do this…" he sighed.
He once tried plowing the land with ki blasts, but Chi-Chi chewed him out and banned him from dinner that night. Ever since then, he did it the honest way.
Still, he found some peace in this simple life.
But then, he suddenly felt Vegeta's power closing in — fast.
"Huh? That's Vegeta's energy. Why's he coming here all of a sudden?"
He stopped the cultivator and looked up. A black speck in the sky grew bigger until Vegeta landed in front of him.
"Kakarot… what the hell are you wearing?" Vegeta asked, scowling at the sight of Goku in his farm clothes. It felt wrong. This was the man he considered his greatest rival — and here he was, farming.
"I'm working. I still gotta finish today's chores."
Goku scratched his head with a grin. "So, Vegeta, you here for something? If not, I better get back. If I'm late, Chi-Chi's gonna yell again."
Vegeta's eye twitched. He couldn't believe the strongest Saiyan he knew was… farming.
"Work?!" he scoffed. "We are Saiyans, Kakarot! Warriors! Not… peasants with plows!"
Still, Vegeta held back his disgust. He had come here with a purpose.
"Kakarot! Fight me!" Vegeta demanded, his voice sharp and unshakable.
Goku's eyes lit up. His Saiyan blood boiled at the thought. He glanced back at the tractor and waved it off like it didn't exist.
"Heh, work can wait. I haven't stretched my muscles in a while anyway."
He cracked his knuckles, a big smile spreading across his face. "Alright, Vegeta. But let's move—Chi-Chi will kill me if we wreck the farm."
"Hmph! Fine by me." Vegeta folded his arms, but inside his battle spirit was burning.
The two Saiyans stripped off their work clothes and blasted into the sky, heading for a wasteland far from Baozi Mountain.
A Rocky Wasteland
The ground cracked beneath their boots as they landed on jagged cliffs, facing each other from opposite sides. The air itself trembled as their auras rose.
"It's been, what, three years since our last fight?" Goku said, smiling with that playful edge. "Let's see how much stronger you've gotten, Vegeta."
"Hmph!" Vegeta scoffed. His aura flared white, the ground quaking beneath him. "I'm not the same as before, Kakarot. Today you'll see the difference!"
The sky darkened as Vegeta powered up, rocks floating around them, space itself groaning from his energy.
With a shout, he charged straight into Super Saiyan and blitzed Goku. His punch roared through the air—but Goku tilted his head, dodging effortlessly.
"Too slow," Goku teased.
Snarling, Vegeta unleashed a storm of fists and kicks, lightning-fast strikes one after another. Goku weaved between them with calm precision, smiling all the while.
Booms echoed across the battlefield as Vegeta's attacks ripped the ground apart, but none landed.
"Damn it!!" Vegeta roared, and with all his rage, he poured power into one massive punch.
Goku raised his arms in a cross-block.
BAAANG!
The shockwave blasted the wasteland apart—but Goku didn't budge an inch.
Vegeta's eyes widened. "What?! That was my full power!"
Goku's expression hardened, his aura crackling with white lightning.
"My turn, Vegeta."
His energy exploded in a storm that pushed Vegeta back a hundred meters. In a blink, Goku was on him—fists and kicks crashing down like meteors.
"Urghhh!!" Vegeta barely blocked, his body rattling from each blow. Every strike reminded him: this was Goku fighting without even transforming.
Finally, a fist slammed into his gut, crushing the air from his lungs. He spat blood as his body flew backward, smashing through a mountain.
"Impossible…!" Vegeta staggered, clutching his stomach. His pride burned hotter than his pain.
With a furious roar, lightning burst around him—he ascended into Super Saiyan 2.
His aura tore the sky, rocks vaporizing in his energy.
"Don't you dare mock me, Kakarot!!" Vegeta's voice shook the heavens. "I came here to fight you at full strength! I don't need your pity! Transform!!"
Goku smiled, calm but serious. He could feel Vegeta's determination.
"…Alright then, Vegeta. Show me everything you've got."
