Chapter 1 - New Lord

In a dark room illuminated by torches hanging against the walls. A young man sits on a throne. His legs dangle at the edge.

'How did this become my life? Sitting on a throne bored out of my mind. I deserve more than this or at least a death befitting of my status. It has been five years since I defeated the Final Boss of this dungeon.

I have watched people walk into the dungeon. Only to die on the second floor. The ones I thought promising only made it to the fifth floor.

At this point, it will take centuries for someone to get to the hundredth floor. I won't deny this position has its perks.'

In an instant, Rye teleported to a room. Mountains of gold and precious gems went on and on. After he defeated Rasol, he got some new abilities he called dungeon magic. One of them was the ability to teleport anywhere in the dungeon.

It was one of the things he used the most. To pass the time he teleports all over the dungeon exploring it. Once in a while, he tried teleporting out but every time he appeared right in front of the threshold.

"Lord Rye!" a demon budged into the throne room.

Rye walked out from behind his giant throne.

"Hake, what is it?" Rye asked taking a seat on his throne.

"There is something you need to see," the demon said and Rye got up and followed him. As they walked down halls that twisted and turned.

'This does not show on the cardinal.'

Rye thought as he quietly followed him. After a while, they got to a chamber. In there was a Dargle encased in a chrysalis.

'A dargle, just like my predecessor. I have been researching them but there is little to nothing about their species. There is one thing I know for sure, and that is their strength. Rasol, the previous dungeon Lord wiped out my company. All seven hundred and fifty-two of us. Some died before they met him but, it would not have changed anything if they did. I sometimes wonder how I survived.'

Rye and Hake stared at the dargle in a crystallized transparent chrysalis. Rye followed vines from the chrysalis that led to another room.

In there was a huge transparent beehive-looking material. In it was a glowing liquid. It was an off-white liquid with blue undertones.

"What is this?" Rye asked Hake and he shrugged.

He put out his hand and announced.

"Cardinal!" A holographic map appeared in front of him.

"Legend!" Rye commanded and points showed on the map. There were three dots and a symbol of a beehive.

Waving his hands around, Rye tapped on the dots one after the other. A name appeared underneath everyone.

Rye, Hake, the third dot said Vernonia.

'Vernonia, my predecessor last word. She must have been important to him.'

He then tapped on the beehive icon on the map.

[Light Spore]

'Light Spore, what is this and why did Rasol hide it?'

"Who else knows about?" Rye asked Hake who was still fixated on the dargle in the chrysalis.

"Only me and two others," Hake said as he continued staring.

"Keep it that way," Rye said and walked out of the room. As he walked down the hall he tried teleporting but he could not.

'Rasol, what were you up to. All these precautions for a light spore and a girl in stasis.'

When Rye was out of the series of tunnels that led to the light spore chamber, he teleported to the dungeon's library.

"Light Spores," Rye called out and a book flew off the library shelf into his hand. Rye gently flipped through, then stopped.

"Light Spores are little energy orbs that emit from raiders. These spores gather in the spore chamber. They serve as a life source for the creatures of the dungeon," Rye read out loud.

'Does that mean I can bring Yash and Jus back?' Rye thought as his heart swelled.
