Chapter 17 - Is he dead?

Lucian ran after Morwen; he didn't want to lose his human tracker. Luna followed suit because she didn't want to face Thorin and his teammates alone, not when they were after her life because she chose to be teammates with Lucian.

"Coward!" Thorin chuckled. He thought that Lucian was afraid of him. He faced his teammates, who were waiting for his orders. "Today we slay the villain and return back home to our world. As the chosen hero, I'm going to speak to the 12 gods about those on my team and make sure that you all survived in Hlasked!"

Everyone in Thorin's team raised their weapon and shouted, motivated to fight from the ideal of returning home. They followed Thorin and chased after Lucian.

"No!" Morwen hit his fist against the wall when he came to the dead end. When he turned around again feeling lost, he was immediately punched in the face by Lucian.

"Seeing you hit this idiot isn't doing much to suppress the anger I feel." Luna was out of breath from running so much; her hands rested on her knees as she tried her best to regain herself.

Lucian grips Morwen's shirt and glares at him. Since he came to Hlasked, his kind and gentle nature had been slowly fading away, almost as though it was nothing but a facade he had built for himself as the only son of a wealthy empire because of his parents. Being in Hlasked was bringing out an evil side of him that was more violent and deceptive, a part of himself he crazily didn't mind, and somehow it made him feel free. The thrill and danger of the game he has been forced to play was starting to make his heart excited; it felt like something that was beyond his desire to survive. Lucian has always been cunning, although he hides it and refuses to accept that part of him, but in the sort of world he came from, it was impossible for him not to be cunning.

"Calm down." Lucian said, "When we fought against your captain, we were outnumbered and still won. I'm not asking you to fight; just try your best not to die."

Morwen paled at Lucian's last words, "I will hide behind you."

Lucian rolled his eyes and felt goosebumps on his skin from the danger he could sense from behind.

Thorin charged with his sword to cut Lucian down from behind but was stopped by Luna. The sharp tip of his blade was against the flat surface of Luna's sword; if her blade hadn't been covered with her poison from her hidden skills, it would have shattered under the strong pressure of Thorin's strength.

'It seems like this bitch has gotten stronger.' Thorin thought. 'not strong enough to stop me.'

Changing the direction of his blade, he quickly kicked Luna in the gut. She flew off and smacked her body against the wall.

Luna held the side of her body and tried to stand up on her feet. Two of her ribs were broken.

"Even with your puny strength, I still hate the sight of you." Thorin said in disdain. "What are you all looking at?" He asked his teammates, "Kill them; I'm not putting on a f*cking show."

Just when Thorin's teammates separated themselves, some went to Thorin's side in order to face Lucian and Morwen, while others went towards Luna. The dead-end rocky wall Morwen's back was against was smashed by Captain Gale, who was on the other side of the thin wall and could overhear the commotion of the battle happening on the other side. The sound of Thorin's voice grabs his attention.

The wall crumbled; Lucian was quick to use his knight skill to hasten his movement to escape from the rock. Morwen, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. Some broken rock hit his head, causing him to lose his footing and fall down; another heavy stone fell towards him and crushed one of his legs and also one of his arms. He screamed in excruciating pain, feeling like he was going to die.

"Shit." Lucian said as he examined Morwen's condition and the new team that just emerged from the other side of the wall. He took a fighting stance against Thorin and Captain Gale with a confident look on his face, even though he felt worried about fighting both of them and their teammates with only his knight skill and lightning ability. If his life is endangered to the point that he can't hold on anymore to only one skill, then he's going to have to reveal his other abilities and screw himself over. Lucian let out a curse as he thought about it.

"The two most key players of the game are both together in one place." Captain Gale brushed away a stray of his short blonde hair from his forehead and swept it all backwards. Not having gel to hold down his hair from entering his eyes was more irritating than the length of his hair that kept growing out the more he spent his time trapped in Hlasked. He was the type of guy who was hair-obsessed and refused to use a sword to cut his hair to the length he preferred.

Captain Gale hummed silently, his gaze moving between Lucian and Thorin. "The hero and the villain, although the numbers between you two look unfair."

Gale moves towards Lucian with his hands up in surrender while Thorin watches with curiosity. "In this hunt my prey for now is the hero, so shall we have a truce until the hero is dead?" He smiled.

Lucian accepted Gale's truce, not because he trusts Gale but because he had no choice. Luna was still healing her injury, and she needed to heal Morwen before death takes his soul away, so Lucian intended to keep up this farce alliance until he had enough time to gather his teammates together; after all, once Gale is done with Thorin, he is next.

"Check, is he dead?" Lucian asks, holding up the huge stone that had crushed Morwen's bones.
