The kid stopped its tantrum and became quiet. Dark magic wrapped itself around him in the form of thick black wind, and then suddenly the kid was no longer a kid but was now an adult that looked like he was in his early 20s. "You should have just peacefully given me my reward." Darion said, his eyes dark with red irises. Through his adult form he could release his full ability; the only human-like thing about him was his body.
Luna and Lucian felt suffocated by the sudden change of air in the cave. It wasn't poison; it was the fear they felt from the dangerous being that was before them.
'What am I going to do?' Lucian thought. Knowing fully well that he couldn't escape the demon before him. This wasn't exactly how he expected a demon to look, but with the sort of humans he had met in his world and thought of them as demons in human form, he's not that surprised to see that he was right after all.
"I'm going to kill her and make you play with me forever." Darion snickers and moves with speed, aiming to capture Luna from behind Lucian, but Lucian reacts quickly and grabs her before Darion could touch her.
Lucian's body tumbled on the ground along with Luna; his eyes and senses couldn't follow Darion's movements. He let out a heavy breath as he quickly got back to his feet. There was no time to waste; he was extremely afraid, but at the same time, Lucian wanted to break through Zyros's power limits by killing Darion so that he could steal his ability. With an ability like that, he was going to be invincible. No player in the game could stop him; perhaps even the 12 gods couldn't stand against him.
"Do you really think that we can fight against that thing?" Luna's hands shake in fear, her sword pointed at Darion. Even with Lucian's ability, she still felt like she was going to die.
"You followed him here because you want me to open the portal for you, didn't you?" Darion asked with an amused smile. Other than the 12 gods, he was the only one in Hlasked who had the key to the portal that led in and out of the dungeon.
"Why don't you stop all this and open the damned portal you talk about, and we will leave you alone." Lucian smirked. Even though he had no idea how he was going to fight against Darion.
Lucian had a summoned sword in his hand; his sword was covered in lightning and flames. He was going all out, activating every magic he had stolen, regardless of how strained it made his body feel. A migraine hit Lucian as he tried reading Darion's mind in order to know his next attack. His mind-reading ability wasn't strong enough to be used on stronger opponents.
"If you want me to open the portal, then you are going to have to beat it out of me." Darion laughed; in a flash he appeared in front of Lucian, held his sword in one hand, and shattered the blade.
Luna raised her poisonous sword and tried cutting off Darion's hand that was still holding on to Lucian's shattered blade, but she was easily stopped as Darion shifted his feet to the side and used what was left of Lucian's sword to block off the attack.
Angry by how it seems like the dungeon king was toying with him and Luna, Lucian let go of his broken blade and hardened his arm. The magic he had placed on his sword wasn't enough to stop the dungeon king, but maybe his knight skill and beast strength could do something. He released a poison gas since the dungeon king was still close to him.
Darion laughs at the poison Lucian releases in the air. "You really think that this can harm me?" He asked in an amused voice, "The last team that was here put in more effort than you, Mr. Villain. If you don't impress me with your strength, I'm not letting you out of this dungeon."
'The other team?' Lucian thought. Stepping back to distance himself from Darion. 'That means another team successfully made it out of the dungeon; could it be that we are doing this wrong? If I'm being honest, he's too strong for me and Luna to kill; perhaps there's a different way to get him to open the portal without fighting?'
'Lucian sacrifices Morwen to the dungeon king.' Luna's mind has been repeating every action and decision Lucian made since they both made the decision to kill Nova and get their revenge. Although Morwen was a terrible person that wasn't to be trusted, Luna felt like Lucian had gone astray since the day he became the villain, and she didn't want to accept his recent change. The way Morwen was killed, fed to a demon, was cruel. 'Lucian is too cruel.' Luna tried attacking the dungeon king but was slapped on the cheek, making her fly off the ground; her neck made an unnatural cracking sound. Quickly, before her brain could process the pain of her twisted neck, Luna began to heal herself. She had no plans to move again until she was done.
'If this whole world is like a video game or a novel, like Luna suggested, perhaps killing isn't the answer to every enemy that's encountered, but if I'm right, then what could this demon want?' Sweat drops down Lucian's forehead as he thinks back to the dungeon king's first appearance and every word he said, including the bedtime story that has been told.
Darion felt the sudden release in restriction that had been placed on him by the 12 gods; the one who had released him was Zinnia. He didn't know why she did it, but he didn't care, because this means more snacks for him. Without the restrictions holding him back, a rule of the game can be broken; he is now allowed to kill the hero and the villain. "It seems like there will be no need for you to play with me, Mr. Villain; I will be eating you instead."
